Say man, what lens should i buy first if i want to do portrait photography, landscape as well and incorporate some video work as well. I own a 35 sigma dg hsm(the first sigma 35mm model) and a zeiss 55mm. Both on a Sony a7iv. Ive been interested in a sony 20mm 1.8, 24 gm 1.4, 35gm 1.4 to replace my current 35, Sigma 85mm 1.4, 24-70 dg dn. Stuck between all these on choosing which one to buy first. What would you recommend?
The suggestion at the end made my decision!! i am set to get the 35 and 85mm, so 20mm is clearly the best one. But if I have 50mm and 85mm, then 24mm is clearly the choice.
I’m not a pro but I have been enjoying an f2.8 Zoom Trio for a while but disappointed in low light, indoor portraits, so I recently bought the Sigma 85 ART f1.4 and it was amazing so I just bought the 24F 1.4 to kind of bookend wide-angle environmental family portraits to go along with a short telephoto individual 85mm portrait option.
Hello very nice video, I need to make a video of drummers playing their instrument. The camera must be close to the drummer to be controlled by the drummer himself. The instrument and the person who plays should be seen well, as far as possible, without distortion. What lens do you recommend for this situation?
I owned both, and they're both excellent. It felt silly to me to hold onto both when they're so close, but I was so reluctant to let either go. I finally sold off the 20mm to help subsidize the cost of a new-to-me used 14mm GM. I'll miss the 20 ... but whooboy that 14 is something special.
I believe it was a wise decision to replace the 20 by 14mm. After using both lenses I don't recommend having both 20 and 24 because the focal length is quite close.
@@tonyamartin1425 FWIW, even though I loved the 14mm, I'm selling it. I bought the Viltrox 16mm, which is stunningly good for the price - not better than the 14mm, but not all that far behind, and much less expensive. And it can take front filters, which the 14 can't.

Great comparison!
Great video. If I have a 24-105mm f4, will the 24mm f1.4 be redundant?
I also have the 24-105 and I use it for event coverage.
The 24mm prime is amazing at f1.4, specially for fashion and wide portraits
Guys, RUclips is dangerous. That's why I have both lenses.
🤣🤣🤣🤣same
Which one do you like better?
Lol
Hahahaha just saw the pictures and thought I want both.
Yeah, I'm having a 'me too' moment myself. 🤣
Excellent review, best head to head comparison between these lenses! Shukran!
Glad it was helpful!
i have the a7siii and the 24mm gm but the pictures are so unsharp, do you know why maybe? :/
Would you share a link of some of the sample images.
sony a7siii its only 12mp not sharp enough

You got the best two focal length. The 20, 35 and 85 are my favorites

A 24mm lens I suppose works the best for you.

Sony 24mm 1.4 GM, this one I can recommend
That girl kicking lens so much! No wonder your 24mm is dirtish :o
hahaa
My opinion 24mm 1.4 video looks like cinematic...20 mm too wide for me.. 20mm lens better for vlogging and street photography...
Wouldnt use 20 or even 24 for vlogging or street
@@fredriksvard2603 24mm or more than 50mm is best for street. 35mm is too main stream. 16-20mm for vlog and home video is perfect
@@ainjuhl4509 agree about more than 50mm
@@fredriksvard2603 what do you use for street video? I thought the wider the better for street!
20mm is too sharper, photos don’t look natural, gm better.
Sharp*
