When I was in the army there was a young soldier who won the lottery. I was the first person he told and he asked for advice. I asked him who else he had told besides me and there was no one else. I told him to keep his mouth shut and tell no one. Next, I told him not to sign his lottery ticket because he needed to stay anonymous. After that reach out to a nationally accredited lottery company that specializes in getting his money. He had less than a year left on his service contract. He listened to what I told him and he even invested about 25% of his winnings. He's doing great right now. I never asked for anything. I just wanted him to be happy and financially stable/free. He's said no one has a clue what he does because he lives in a nice but modest house and he keeps to himself. What a lucky guy.

No outrageous cars or houses can be bought with that kind of money but it’d be a believable amount and definitely enough for essential expenses. We have won the million dollar lottery twice, three years apart about 10 years ago.
What they didn’t tell us at the Lottery and I didn’t realize was about the taxes. They withheld 30% of the winnings for taxes. THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE ENOUGH!!
This amount of money puts you in a higher tax bracket. You will be charged at a higher rate! A tax attorney may be able to figure out a way around it but I didn’t. The next year won’t be so bad because you paid so much in taxes the year you won.
I’m talking about the Federal Income Taxes. I can’t speak for the state and possibly city income taxes.

That's ok, but that doesn't help you become anonymous. You are NEVER anonymous to any state's lottery, even to the anonymous ones. People don't understand what the meaning of anonymous is when it comes to claiming the lottery. You can claim with a trust, but you ALWAYS have to provide your name, address and SSN to claim your prize. There is no way around it.

    • @TheDanEdwards

    • @ChochiT0-ddd7fd
      @ChochiT0-ddd7fd Год назад +1

@@TheDanEdwards Actually it won't work in any of the non-anonymous states that it is played. You are never anonymous to lottery officials. Every state has to make sure each winner is legal in the country, check whether they owe child support and/or other debt to the government. If so, then they will deduct the debt from the winnings immediately. In states that are "NOT" anonymous, if you claim with a trust, that only shields your name temporarily from the public. By law the lottery has to answer the door, and provide all your info., when reporters come knocking. In states that are "anonymous", the lottery officials will tell the reporters to go away, but the lottery themselves have all your info.

In some countries the lottery companies actually have specialists to help you do these things. Once you tell them you won, they will teach you what to do and what not to do.
Often they tell you to tell everyone you won some money and spent it all on your new car/paying for the house and not to live big, but continue your normal life for the time being. And of course invest a big chunk of it to have it if you need it or want to buy something.

The Devil and the New World Order hope that everyone's exchanging a central idea of their reality and then infecting others to that standard. That's why they chose the most vile leaders, governors, kings etc. so people experience infracture to their belief of reality under that leader. Sadly, you can't do that in Canada. Part of the "contract" is that they get to publish your name for promotional purposes. You can wear a disguise for the picture, but your name will be published. On the plus side, all lotteries in Canada are pre-taxed and there is no 20yr annuity either......so if you win $70million Canadian dollars (our biggest lottery), you get $70m tax free about a week later, which is when most people claim it. From then on, i'd imagine your life goes downhill, fast. There are many stories up here about lottery winners, and NONE of them are good.

If you sign the back then anyone can request your name and lotto has to provide it under the “ freedom of information act” since the ticket is considered a public document. You create an LLC so that the ticket can be signed to the LLC and put into a blind trust to protect your identity.

There's a couple of things to note.
    1. Yes, some states allow you to claim anonymous. The one with the scream mask was in texas which does protect the identity of its winners. In the event your state doesn't, you can have a representative, a lawyer for example, make the claim on your behalf.
    2. DON'T TAKE THE LUMP SUM. Most lottery winners end up losing all their money within 5 years this way.
Take the yearly payment option and with a financial advisor set up a budget of what gets invested/saved and a monthly allowance of your winnings as to not go broke within a week.

In Canada, you sign the ticket. There is no such thing as anonymity, it is a condition of collecting the jackpot, they will advertise you. Plus, there are multiple instances with dispute over a sus winner who had their ticket snatched, and signed by another person.

Great advice on all points, BUT if you don't sign or put your name on it that is the easiest way to have you ticket lost or stolen, definitely the least smart thing you could do. Look up the horror stories of not putting your name on it immediately. Also I'm very concerned for people who all have to worry about people wanting money from them, jeez. If your circle or family is that toxic cut ties now, yikes or else that's a serious case of paranoia and should seek professional help for that prior to playing the lotto. Lastly if you think people are really after your money (other then debt collector/ IRS) then just imagine how wealthy people all feel about you peasants

Take the lump sum instead of distributed, and do *nothing* with it until you’ve paid taxes on it. Then, do all your spending/saving/investing/gifting based on what you get to *keep*, rather than on what you won

No, once you do that, the lawyers can't do anything for you and you can no longer sign a blind trust. Your name will be reported by the lottery and they can let everyone know you won (depending on the state you live in). DO NOT SIGN THE BACK because the law firm will need to sign it in order to protect your anonymity. But because you don't sign the back, you need to protect that ticket in a safe or safety deposit box until you can hand to a law firm because if you lose it, then it's gone and you have no proof.

Just do like my very wealthy best friend (and a coworker whose salary was less than mine) did when I asked him how he was able to have all he had and do everything he wanted, he tried to BS me by saying he and his wife were pretty frugal, didn't go to many movies or out to eat much, etc... But he has a huge house on lots of land and has spent $100,000 on modifying his car for performance, he has a huge gun collection and has gone on over 50 safaris in Africa (Zimbabwe, RSA), Australia, Europe (Spain, Sweden, Russia), Asia and South America (Argentina). Finally, I pressed him and he replied, "If I tell you, I will have to kill you. Do you still want to know?"
      I said, "No!"
