Kind of true Medaka Box was on a roll the change to a battle shonen with unzen's introduction, the 2nd arc and kumagawa's arc really boosted sales and saved the series Kumagawa was the protag of a spinoff that happens before the main series and becomes an mc in the 4th arc

Oddly enough, Medaka sitting in the backseat until the Kumagawa fight was probably what made this arc work so damn well. And God willing it somehow does well enough to net a follow up season, they'd only need three total to finish the series. 37 episodes. It's nice to dream.
