2013 GMC Sierra here. I've seen a few videos showing how to do this, and yours is by far the best. As a novice, I, too, appreciate all of the different views. I was really happy with the last view, because I didn't understand how the filter was supposed to be a valve lifter filter. Once I saw the manifold view at the end, it made sense. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Awesome video! Solved my P0521 light and low pressure warning! I usually record my work even if someone else has already done this video, but I couldn’t do a better job than what you did. Super clear instructions. It was a pain reaching behind the motor, but I got it done on my 2012 Cadillac Escalade EXT thanks to you! God bless!!!
That blow out step made me soooo happy! I was thinking there was stuff between that mesh and the pump somewhere in mine and was wondering what in the world I'd be able to do to make sure there wasn't. Didn't know it went strait down to the oil filter😊 thank you sir!
Thanks for all the details in this video. I replaced the sensor and it didn't do the trick so I replaced that filter and changed the oil and bingo. Works like a charm. I used a 1 1/16" o2 sensor socket an it worked great.
thanks for sharing this Chris. never saw anyone mention about blowing that passageway out. I did this job the first time without doing that and didn't help anything. my screen below the sending unit wasn't very dirty and didn't catch much blowing the passage way out but It's got good pressure now. cranks up cold at 50, runs hot at 40-42 and idles hot about 30.
I have watch a lot of videos on this process and have been trying to find out if the oil passage went only to the filter. Good video . I replaced mine and in a month the oil pressure has went back down to 20 lbs with the check engine light back on.
What a great video and easy to understand... didn't know they had the filter... changed my Daughters out on her Silverado but didn't know about the filter and we have the same problem after installing the sensor... guess I'll take it out and install the filter! But this is a great video!
Great! I am glad it was easy to follow and hope it helped! Make sure to like the Video and Subscribe! It really helps the channel! Thanks again for watching!
Just had the same code on a 2014 5.3l. I changed the sensor and screen with oem and still had code return. It wasn't until I changed the oil and blew the port out that the code didn't return. Thanks for the tip.
That's why I said "The right way." Because a lot of the time if you don't do it this way the code will return. I am glad it took care of your issue! Make sure you like and subscribe! It really helps my channel!
Yous is the best comprehensive video. Thanks for your time and help. I'm getting 20psi at idle when I think I should be a little more like 35-40. I'm also getting the code. right now the dealership/crooks are looking into it and already replaced it once with same results. I have no idea if they changed out the filter or not so back it goes for another try. I know I'm going to have to do this myself eventually so this was great information.
Forgot I posted to this 2 years ago. I had my oil pump replaced and the tube and a new sensor. This solved my problem. This was done under warranty since I brought the oil issue up before we purchased the truck. I'll also add that the only time I blew the code was when the truck would switch to the AFM 4 cylinder mode. It never did this in 8 cylinder mode. Must use more oil pressure and robbed it from the sensor or something. Just a heads up folks.
Wish I watch your video last week..... My pressure stay normal at high speed but decreased at idle wonder if I need to do that or replace pick up tube o ring?
Great! I am glad it was easy to follow and hope it helped! Make sure to like the Video and Subscribe! It really helps the channel! Thanks again for watching!
Chris, have you also seen cases where the oil pressure is way too high? Mine is at 70 PSI at idle (warm engine). With key on, engine off, the gauge reads 40. Is this also an indication of an oil pressure sensor failure?
Thanks for the video. I have a 2010 silverado 4x4. And I have try hard a hell and can not get or find a screen filter under the sensor. Any advice? Thanks...
Any additional advice for getting the electrical connector off the sensor? I can actuate the gray lever but am unable to squeeze the connector in a meaningful way for it to release.
Hello, I replace this part and I’m still getting the check engine light for P0 521 whatelse could it be I have low pressure but no warningb it goes from 18 hot up to 40 psi when accelerating no higher, no lower
Hi I have an issue with no park lights the signal, stop, daytime brake lights work just no brights or park lights on the same truck in this video I checked the headlight fuses hi/low bulbs are good any other thing I'm missing to check
for a 5.3 with the AFM. what is a oil pressure specs should read at the gauge? its a 2009 silverado.... i already replace the oil pump and pick up tube and it still reads less then 15 psi
I've had the "pleasure" 😠 of doing this job and I've always wondered why does GM feel its necessary to have a screen below the OPS. I've never met another manufacturer that does this. I've often thought of discarding the filter to prevent a comeback. Anyone else ?
Agree with you Its actually criminal that they let engineers design a motor and put parts in hard places. I would love to punch the engineer in the mouth for this and for making it so difficult to change the #8 spark plug.
Working on a 2007 chevy tahoe 5.3l replaced oil pump, oil pressure sensor, and screen. Still haven't got oil pressure, and it dies when the no oil light comes on. What else can be the problem?
When you get a tick tick on these motors your block will be cracked from the second crank journal to the middle Cam Bearing Journal that's the reason for the tick tick tick cuz he ain't got no oil pressure
Jorge Cruz M could possibly be a bad oil pump. It the oil pump strainer oring. Or the cam bearings are bypassing. But I would try the oil pump and oring before I pulled the engine and installed new can bearings.
Chris Arnau my mechanic changed the sending unit already but didnt change the filter, could that be it?? If not how can i know if its the pump or o ring? I drove it for 20 mins then stoped for about ten and made it back home just in time and it started again
My truck popped the code while driving an started to serger oil preasure never dropped below 30 psi but felt sluggish is this normal for this code or should i be worried?
Thanks Chris great video But before I get to my question I would like to go on record and say that the engineer or engineers who design this motor should get punched in the mouth. This spot where the switch is at is criminal. Also changing that #8 sparks plug is a pain in the ads also. I'm not sure how the mechanical team allows this. A mechanic I spoke with said engineers walk on water at the plants. My question is what size is that socket is it a sock to change o2 sensors??. Went to the auto parts place and they didn't even heard of such a socket. My luck I've been dealing with village idiots. Thanks hope I get your answer.
Ok, so I couldn't agree more about the #8 Spark plug. lol. You can go through the fender well and get it and OR (AND THIS IS GREAT!!!) They make a spark plug socket with a double swivel on it and it makes it super super easy to remove and replace the #7 and #8 spark plugs. Here is the socket. amzn.to/2Nerf8s It is definitely worth the purchase. As far as the O2 sensor. There are 2 different types of tools I use for this depending on space and you can buy them together pretty inexpensive. This one you install on your ratchet. amzn.to/2GNdNXI and this one has a handle on it. amzn.to/2X3GxRM I own both and use both often.
Gonna do this in a couple Hrs..always do my own work ..this is by far the BEST Knowledge , THANKYOU !!!
Of the 20+ videos I've watched on the subject, this one is the most helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for going the extra mile in showing how to replace the sensor! Great video!

Great video! Thanks for such a clear explanation and the tip on cleaning it out before installing the new switch!
Excellent Video on how to replace the sensor. Wasnt sure about changing the filter, you answered that and more. thanks

Awesome video, Chris. Direct and to the point. Sure beats taking the intake off as some videos would have you do.

You are awesome, Im a little slow and definitely appreciated all the different ways you explained it, thank you
You have definitely done this a time or two my guy. Awesome video, just ordered my sensor/screen; thanks for the video!

Wish I watch your video last week..... My pressure stay normal at high speed but decreased at idle wonder if I need to do that or replace pick up tube o ring?
Thanks, great video ! Like the "do it right " philosophy !
I watched 4 other videos on this and yours was the best with the best info! Thanks for the help!

Best video for this particular truck. Thank you sir👏
Thank you so much....this video really helped me and I like the way you showed how to do it 3 times...Very helpful :)

I have normal pressure, but I got this code. I changed my sensor a year ago when I had no oil pressure.
Thanks for the video.
I have a 2010 silverado 4x4.
And I have try hard a hell and can not get or find a screen filter under the sensor.
Any advice?
Thanks...
I agree with Frank. Thanks
Thanks man! I appreciate the comment! Glad it could help someone!
Excellent video

Do the valley cover themselves go bad?.Do they cause the lifter problems 🤔, or add to it?
Not really. I have seen some bypass but you normally lose all pressure then.
Great video. What will this repair cost me in a shop?
Youre the man ,no need say more .
I've had the "pleasure" 😠 of doing this job and I've always wondered why does GM feel its necessary to have a screen below the OPS. I've never met another manufacturer that does this. I've often thought of discarding the filter to prevent a comeback. Anyone else ?

best video yet.....great job
Thanks!
Just changed the oil pressure sensor and filter.. code came back again! My mecanic says that the oil pump has to be changed. Any suggestions?
Did you do it the way I showed? If there is trash in the passage, you will continue to have the problem.
This is an excellent video my friend. Thank you !!
Working on a 2007 chevy tahoe 5.3l replaced oil pump, oil pressure sensor, and screen. Still haven't got oil pressure, and it dies when the no oil light comes on. What else can be the problem?
Could be the oil pump .or no gas in the tank
I changed my sensor and I am still popping up the p5021 code. Can't figure out why
Thanks for the video!
What does the compressed air do for the system
Just pushes any debris out.
Thanks..for the great understanding video appreciated.
Awesome, thanks a lot
Damn good job!
Please please please work.
Oh dear God please help me, a tired, confused, old soul.
very helpful
thanks great great video
hell yeah , bad ass bro , thanks , 2 thumbs up !!
When you get a tick tick on these motors your block will be cracked from the second crank journal to the middle Cam Bearing Journal that's the reason for the tick tick tick cuz he ain't got no oil pressure
timmy pruss that’s entirely untrue. Lol.
Thank you, subscribe love these Silverado videos.
I did this already and it still drops to 0 or very. Low oil pressure i have 2007 chevy avalanche... anyone what else can it be
Jorge Cruz M could possibly be a bad oil pump. It the oil pump strainer oring. Or the cam bearings are bypassing. But I would try the oil pump and oring before I pulled the engine and installed new can bearings.

I drove it for 20 mins then stoped for about ten and made it back home just in time and it started again
Yes if the filter is gummed up your gonna have the same issue
My truck popped the code while driving an started to serger oil preasure never dropped below 30 psi but felt sluggish is this normal for this code or should i be worried?
Do you need a special socket or will a normal deep socket do the trick?
Dumbbell Central definitely need an oil pressure sending unit socket. I linked one in the description. A regular socket will not work.
Here is the Socket. Oil Pressure Sensor Socket - amzn.to/2mx4b7C
Thanks Chris great video
