THANK YOU SO MUCH! Cylinder 1 spark plug code, changed Plug Only at work today and all symptoms relieved. Running like a champ! God knows what a dealership or random mechanic would say, do or charge. Can't thank you enough
Thank you! Perfect description of problem. One thing that started to lead us down another rabbit hole was this symptom appeared a couple miles down the road from buying "cheap" gas. Turned out the number 5 plug wire came off the ignition coil in my hand as I was getting ready to pull the plug! I pulled the ignition coil module off and it was corroded looking. I cleaned all the contacts with contact cleaner and reassembled. Purrs like a kitten again and all my code lights are off! This was on a 2014 5.3L Chevy Silverado. A code reader pointed us to cylinder #5 btw.
@@smile-more_worry-less9966 Any luck on a solution yet? My truck also started doing the same thing this morning when I was merging on the highway! Any tips help. Thank you in advance!!
Dude!!! It does fix the problem... I went to some local Mecanic & this guy out of nowhere said something is wrong with my tires or rims?? Just because I told him I changed all 4 of my tires but I knew something else is wrong. After watching this video I did exactly what u did & the problem is gone..!!!! Much appreciated!!!!
I cannot believe it because my roommate was telling me that my tires are too big for my Chevy Suburban. They are the exact tires that I had on there from the dealership. Then I had brand new tires put on in August 20/20 and came to Las Vegas from Cedar City Utah, and my roommate told me that because the tires were too big that was causing the stability track and traction control issue. I knew from previous experience in a Dodge intrepid that if one of the spark plug wires were taken off then it would have a rough idle just as my vehicle was exhibiting. So I paid my $350 to have AAA tow my car to a shop December 1st and my roommate said that he would have some guy come out who could tell me what the problem was. Course they came out 4:30 in the morning when they had me waiting from 3:00 p.m. in the evening until midnight.. so my roommate came to me telling me I needed to give 6,500 cash for them to start working on my transmission. I'm like that's totally impossible because my car has been at the St George Chevy dealership every 6 months since I've had the vehicle and everything is brand new on the vehicle including the air conditioning belt which was replaced in August when I got the brand new tires. I kept saying over and over it has got to be something wrong with the spark plugs or the spark plug wires and I dreamed about it pretty much at least once a week for the last 11 months. This is what happens your life completely stops, you don't have a job anymore you don't have any money, you haven't worked out, all because you trusted some idiot with a misdiagnosis of your Chevy Suburban. So your comment and enthusiasm has given me hope and I may not commit suicide after all. 😭
My grandfather was a Master Mechanic and he always told me start with the cheapest simplest resolution and work your way up. Most of the times it's something simple. If you don't already go to Walmart and spend $20 on one of those little devices you plug into your truck and it helps tremendously on the smaller problems. You can also erase that check engine light so it disappears.
Great and accurate. My multimeter said cylinder 7 misfiring.. Just as you did in this video! After a lot of sweat and money, trusting my gut ( and u ) I replaced plug 7.. Anyhow, long story short, I then replaced all the other plugs as you did. Thankyou for your honest and straight help!!
I had the exact same problem he described today on my 2011 GMC Sierra, 5.3L, 165k miles. Going down the road and the stabil- trac light came on, check engine light was flashing and the truck started missing/running rough. Noticed it was shifting hard as well. Got home, found this video on RUclips. I had the #1 plug to foul out last year so I tried that one first. Put in a new one in that cylinder and the warning lights went away and the truck runs fine again. Glad you made the video, not sure why the Stabil-Trac is related to a plug misfire…..
I read into it if the cpu detects any misfire codes it'll automatically reduce engine power so the service traction control service stabilitrak will come up
Mine was an accelerator sensor on the pedal. Your best best it to take it to someone who has a computer and let them run test. There could be lots of different things that cause this issue. It would be the most practical way to do things. If you replace spark plugs and that doesn’t fix it well now you’ve got to take it and get it hooked up anyways.
@@OtayBuckwheat if you pay attention I said to get it scanned first. And only do what I did if you get a p3001-3008 code for cylinder misfire or random misfire then try changing the spark plugs. Only cost me $70 to fix the problem.
Thank you so much!! we were having same issues and took our truck to mechanic that told us it was wheel bearings. no I didn't believe him one bit that's why I kept looking for solutions. we changed ,spark plug and so far issue is resolved. Thank you so much.😊
So my truck started doing this last night. It started with the check engine light, then traction control and stability track whatever that is. Anyways it started shifting hard and after plugging in Bosch Obd 2 it says misfire on cylinder 7. I will be replacing all my spark plugs tomorrow!! Thank you very much and I’m thanking you ahead of time and I hope it’s this. I will update everyone!!
So after doing this my truck worked perfectly fine but it started to do it again today a year later, but the check engine light is off it’s just the stabiltrak and traction control. It comes on randomly and then turns off. Then I’ll drive and it will come off. Then it will turn off
I had the same problem 2 years ago, changing the plugs and resetting the computer (very important) fixed the problem. Two years and only 17,000 miles and it's doing it again! Going to try new plugs tomorrow to see if it fixes the problem again. I have 112,000 miles on it right now. When I sold my 2000 Silverado it had 172,000 miles on it and original plugs
@@Blackdynasty123 Thanks for the reply. I found the problem, I changed plugs 30k km ago and torqued the plugs to 11 ft lbs I bought them online and they seemed to be oem but bought another set from my local dealership where I get wholesale pricing just to be sure. When I went to replace the first plug it was loose... The GM torque specs are 11-13 ft lbs and had torqued them to 11 ft lbs when I changed them last time. 6 of the 8 were loose. The 4 that shut off with the AFM were extremely fouled. This time I torqued them to 13 ft lbs. I had the battery disconnected while I was changing the plugs as I know the computer needs to be reset when replacing plugs or you will have problem. The light cleared and no more issues. I also added a Range Technology Plug & Play AFM/DFM Active Fuel Management Disabler to keep it in 8 cylinder mode and my fuel economy has improved. I will be checking my plugs again in a few thousand km to make sure they are still tight
@@curtisw5732 I hope that solves the problem but when disconnecting the battery that will make lights go off temporarily for about two weeks so if it's still no lights after about 2 weeks to month you should be good
Thanks for the info. Mine started doing this exact same thing yesterday. I thought I may have a plug going bad but yesterday it all went to shit quick, these same lights started coming on and running really rough. Stopped at auto store and got new plugs, purrs like a kitten again! Thanks for sharing this, it did help my issue!
yeah had the same exact issue and just changed all wires and plugs... runs perfectly now. I knew I had the number 7 plug fowled, but once it got bad the stabilitrak and traction control went off and had the check engine light blinking.
How many plugs did you replace. I just now like right now not even 40 mins ago my truck started doing the same problem I don’t even know why it says stabilitrac traction problem and even engine light flashing
Thank you very much! My wife's 2011 Silverado was doing the exact same thing. I purchased a set of spark plugs and ended up finding one fowled plug. This fixed all the stable track control light and abs light. Awesome advice!
I appreciate the video. My Silverado started the exact same thing yesterday. Every symptom you described. I’ll change out all the Spark Plugs later as that’s not going to hurt regardless. I’ll post an update. Have an auto zone up the road.
So, from what I’ve found; there are a ridiculous amount for the same complaint across many Chevy models. I think the “root fix” is different depending on the model Chevy. Mine is a small model Chevy and the fix was actually PCV valve just causing a trickle down effect. Also, Chevy programmed their vehicles to trip the traction anytime an engine code is detected. Hope this helps someone.
This is EXACTLY what is wrong with my truck. The shaking, the warning lights, blinking check engine... Still making it through your video but going it can help me. Thanks
For me it was the main ground lead, $600 at dealership. Said cable was causing the electrical system to have too much resistance. Dealt with it for years before finally giving in to dealership. Well worth the cost. Would DIY if ever had to do again.
I am buying a 2008 Suburban Off Road conversion tomorrow directly from the auction. It shows that the Traction control signal is on showing just like yours but no check engine light. This video helped me. Im taking a chance but we will see. Thanks for sharing the video.
I'm here with you, I purchased a brand new 2019 chevy 2500 HD in January 2019, this past September at 8 months and 7500 miles, my truck was riding rough (like driving on asphalt in 4WD) from a dead stop to a slight acceleration and the traction control light came on briefly for 2-3 seconds only about 3 or 4 times but it did it steadily over the course of a weekend. Called the dealership and took it there to have it looked at and it never acted up on the way to the dealership and on the way home. No codes showed up at all. It does it every once in a while. Believe me, when you pay good money for a new vehicle, it better run in top shape for a liooooooong time. I still have over a year and 17,000 Miles for it to happen again and file a lemon law issue with chevy. I had a Ford before (brand new) and that truck cost me an arm and a leg with deductibles over 13 years- never again. Hoping chevy doesnt let me down.
It may be the throttle position sensor on the throttle body. If you look at the throttle body there's a black plastic piece held on by silver clips that has a wire connector. The sensor is operated by a small motor contained inside the throttle body itself. The wires send a signal to the motor and inside the sensor are a gear that actually moves the butterfly valve for the throttle body. If the sensor has broken that is your problem. It's either replace the sensor, which requires someone that knows how to install it because there's a part inside that has to be lined up with the butterfly valve or replace the entire throttle body. That fixes the problem. Tell the dealer you think it's the TPS on the throttle body and you know there have been service bulletins on the problem. ( TPS means throttle position sensor) Don't let them say it's not showing any codes to get out of fixing it. Here's an example of prior issues chevy has had with the TPS static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2012/SB-10044229-8347.pdf
Had this exact thing happen to me in my 2013 Yukon XL. Code reader was P0304 cylinder 4 misfire. Really rough idle when at red light or at a stop, dashboard stabilitrak, engine light flashing traction control, dash was lite up like xmas tree. First, check your oil. Mine was dry. 2nd change your plugs, and check them. I topped off oil, and changed all spark plugs problem solved in 2hrs. Goodluck.PS passenger side spark plug is a pain especially the one closest to the firewall, had to use my swivel head.
My truck did this yesterday and I just got back from dealer last month for plugs and all fluids changed 🤷🏽 . Scared me. Had to jump start it and now it acts like it never happened.
Thank you for this video! Changing my spark plugs helped me with my 2010 GMC Sierra Denali and my Traction Control Light no longer comes on & stays on. The dealership said my ECM was going out and I also needed to change my oil pressure sensor(which was causing my check engine light to come on).
Dude I just want to say thank you for this vid. My 2010 GMC Sierra shat on me and started trembling and same issue with stabilitrak n traction control. I freaked out, saw your vid and went to buy spark plugs n wires. Issue resolved! Thanks man!! Ps: once I pulled the boot off of one of the plugs I must’ve tugged the cord a lil and it all almost came off the boot. 🤦🏼♂️ good thing I went ahead and bought the wires with the plugs.
Did anyone have the problem of when you brake there very scrunchy and thats when my stability track comes on my abs and traction control! And just today I was driving and it felt as if I was losing power!
Man thank you so much! I literally just had this happen to my 2012. I did exactly what you said, came to RUclips and skipped over a couple videos to yours for whatever reason. I’m sure glad I did skip the other video’s because yours what exactly what I needed to know. Thanks so much! New subscriber!
My 08 Denali had all these codes this morning just started this morning everything you mentioned in this video I experienced, i went to auto zone to get a engine light check to confirm and yes it was a misfire on my cylinder 3... so I purchased 8 spark plugs and getting ready to change them out hopefully it works
I was skeptical, but I had these exact same symptoms with my '11 Suburban. Random misfire codes from 7 & 8. Replaced those 2 plugs, and now everything is good as new. Thanks for the tip!
my 2023 gmc was doing this last week, I sent it in to the deanship and when I get it back I will come on here and follow up on what the issue is for my particular case. seems lie really there are a LOT of possibilities.
Thank you so much. I changed the engine oil cooling lines myself and right after I am done I got this error and light came one for (stabitrack). I went and checked all the connections where I worked i thought maybe I hit or touched I wire connection somewhere. All where good. After watching 8mins of your video I went and unplugged all the cables between the spark plugs and the ignition coils and plugged them back. The light is no more showing. Thanks again I will change the spark plugs soon.
I had the same problem after changing the spark plugs on 2012 GMC YUKON XL, I USED A/C Delco plugs rapid fire. After that it started doing the exact thing you said. I then took one of the plugs i had took off to Orileys witch was an auto lite cheaper plug and said I need these exact plugs, re installed them and it fixed the problem. Ever since I've had it do it once again but after turning it off and back on it was back to normal. I will change all the coils in the future. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with reprogramming the idle control on the computer. I've seen a video that talks about that. Thank you for your video.
I experienced this today on my Chevrolet Impala(09).I'm understanding this is very common across-the-board with lots of Chevrolet vehicles. My service to bill attract was also associated with a flashing check engine light.. Once I got home I pulled the code, It was a cylinder one miss fire P301. My new my plugs have less than 10000 miles on them and the car does not burn oil. This process happened twice within 5 minutes of each other and then drove 15 minutes home from that point problem free. I will be pulling cylinder 1 spark plug, checking for carbon tracking. Highly doubt this is the culprit. I personally believe there is a deeper problem here. Maybe in the electrical.. I always test so I don't go down a rabbit hole. I have new wires I will install this weekend while I do the front brake upgrade. I'm going to test the coil, I like I said out of the blue this happened twice today.. If I'm not mistaken GM yeah stabilitrack service default typically trips a reduced power mode in the vehicle. Similar to the traction control when you're tires are slipping and the transmission cuts power to the wheels.the . But the miss I experienced today and lack of power was a cylinder misfire. I can rule out bad fuel that was 3 days ago is it go it would have acted up sooner. I'm just saying my issue might be electrical as I'm going to look at a wiring diagram.
Literally happened to me yesterday on my 08 Malibu ! And I was/ am so freaking paranoid & just having full blown ANXIETY! 😔 uuugghhh sucks! It’s not getting better ….. but I will TRY THISSS NOW! & hopefully THISSS will help. 😊😊😊😊
My issue was two things. One was the plastic clamps on the electronic pig nose plug that goes into the throttle body was broken so it would come loose and throw the stabilitrak notification. Second the wire for this plug was hanging loose causing the pig nose to unplug while driving. I replaced the pig nose plug and used a zip tie to hold up the wire and hasn’t done it for over a year now.
This maybe my problem. I already changed all the plugs and plug wires and put a new coil on #4 .but i still get the service stabil tract servivevtraction control and it starts kissing on #4 .the engine runs fine till th ed service stabliltrac comes on.then starts missing and the engine light blinking .i have ordered 4 new wheel speed sensors g9ing to try that. But i am going to check the plug end you mentioned too.
Truth is if there is a misfire, the engine light will blink. Always get an OBD scan to determine what cylinder it is, then you MUST change the spark plug and coil pack for that specific cylinder or the misfire will return.
I had the same thing going on with my 2008 yukon, took it to auto zone and it read that cylinder 6 was misfiring and i need valve springs and valve cover but now my truck have reduced power and my reverse gear does not work at times so i was told the problem is in my transmission so now i may have to get a new trans!!😭😭 But im praying this will fix All the problems.
There are several different issues that can cause this that I know of. One being loose battery connection. Another being Throttle bottle sensor being bad or possibly just need cleaned. A third being On Star is known to have caused these sort of issues. I have an 08 chevy 1500 that had this start happening and it ended up being my positive battery terminal was stripped/word out and would not tighten up and stay tight on the battery post. Replaced it and Everything has been fine for over a year now.
I appreciate your help that's exactly what's going on with my Suburban 😢 I had 3 different people looking at it. Change the spark plugs & wires and a couple of coil packs. Still doing it. Probably have to change all of them. The part store check it. We're having the same problem
Had the same problem with the rough idle after check engine light came on. Error code 1133 oxygen sensor. Only bad thing is it doesn’t tell you which bank or whether it is the upstream or downstream sensors. Upstream sensors are the same part number and both downstream sensors are the same part number. At 53 bucks each, it’s better off changing either both upstream or both downstream. I was lucky enough for the AutoZone printsheet to say it was bank one sensor two which is driver-side down stream sensor after the catalytic converter. The plug fouling can be because the sensor is running your engine too rich due to the bad sensor. Change it soon to avoid further cost and headache. Then reset the computer by pulling the negative cable off the battery and turn your headlights on to the drain the computer battery. Reconnect the battery cable. Worked for me and no more issues or error code lights.
This fricken alarm is life threatening! I'm surprised gm hasn't gotten any crazy lawsuits from this. I was crossing a intersection and boom alarm comes up engine power reduced. Truck crept across the intersection. Lucky nothing was coming. I got it working by using contact cleaner on the mass air flow sensor that worked for a few days but it went out again. I bought the truck in a auction and thought what the hell let me change the spark plugs since I didn't know how long they were in there and that solved my issue.. Haven't had the problem since
@@luissalgado4415 I did two things, I took the mass air flow sensor out sprayed it with contact cleaner that worked for a few days but then it happened again took the spark plugs out changed them haven't had that problem since
Try disconnecting and cleaning both sides of the battery, also check the life of your battery, it has worked for me three times. I own a 2013 traverse.
Most of the time your Stabilitrak and traction control come on for a wheel speed sensor either on the front hubs or on the rearend. It can also be the front hubs themselves. A good scanner like the BlueDriver is a good tool
Any ideas on my truck, when I go to turn right my left tire feels like it’s locking up and truck wants to stop and at the same time all my stability and traction control lights turn on or blink and after a bit of jumping around kinda forcing me left and trynna stop it goes away and runs fine but with all the lights still on
@@joelanzo3452 check your brake calipers as they may be intermittently locking up, but if it is primarily when you turn then I would check the wheel hub, ball joints and tie rods.
@@JustAGuy781 well I just put in a brand new rack and pinion maybe thinking that would fix it but still does it I belive it has to do something with a sensor don’t understand the locking up part Soo sometimes if I’m driving the lights blinks trans slip a lil but most the time like I said when I go richt It does it a lot more like I go to turn and the truck wants to pull me left hard and feels like it’s locking up trying to stop while the lights blink you let off let the lights stop and then it’s fine again just with the lights always on
My light was intermittent. Especially during cold and rain. I changed the spark plugs & wires / then got code for O2 sensor Bank 1 / changed that / cleaned the Throttle body / cleaned my other O2 sensors / cleaned my MAF / changed my Negative battery cable /so far in the past week I have not seen the triangle of death. Edit: my front wheels were out of alignment bad. The stabilitrac warning ⚠️ came back. After I got the alignment done, it has been good since
I think the main problem is the negative battery cable I guess there a recall on it that needs the updated cable! doing it this weekend hopefully that’s ic I’ve done everything to it!!
FIXED! My 2014 gmc acadia slt was showing traction control off and service stabilitrak after just a few mins of driving after about 35mph if I accelerated more than 1/3 throttle the truck would cut power in quick intervals making the drivetrain shake hard. So after finding that my brake switch sensor was always triggering the lights to be on and it had to do with the slack that built up over the years in my brake peddle... changing the sensor wouldn't fixed the problem... so I added a small piece of plastic to the sensor to fix the problem. I've been driving it alot over the last few weeks with zero problems! Hope this helps someone.
Dude thanks! I changed my plugs and all is well. Plug 7 was fried plug 1,3 and 5 were getting bad. 2,4,6 and 8 were ok.🤔 not sure why one side was worse than other but the lights are off and the truck idles smoothly. Also put some seafoam in tank ti help clean the fuel system.
My Truck just started doing this, I see all these comments of people doing it them self and I wish I can do it my self, GMC can get my Yukon in until a week from now.
Sounds like variable valve timing to me. This engine is much more complicated than older fuel injection. AFM is obvious with a knocking sound. But vvt is a common fail that causes multiple misfires due to the communication of the cam timing and the coil timing reading incorrectly to each other. Its a $50 part that requires a $350 torque wrench to install and removal of the waterpump and vvt sensor to get to it. i.e. it's the camshaft bolt/vvt valve/ torque to yield one time use. To prove my point, the best way to temporarily fix it is to change your oil. And when it's cols it'll be fine. Vvt needs about 25 psi oil pressure to work properly. So if your engine is getting worn and drops below that, it'll throw the cam timing off about 6° and give you a po00011 code I think. And it'll idle and accelerate rough. The vvt valve has a screen that is clogging up with carbonated oil and needs replaced. Then you'll get that super smooth idle your truck used to have. 👍
My 2007 Chevy avalanche 5.3 engine is doing the same thing right now I replaced all the plugs all the coils all the spark plug wires throttle sensor crankshaft sensor cam sensor and it still doing the same thing you think it might be the VVT sensor?
My 2013 2500 HD 6.0L is doing the same exact thing and I shot the parts cannon at it. To include fuel pump, cleaned injectors, cat on bank 1 was completely clogged and the cat by muffler as well However bank 2 was crystal clear… had them deleted, new air filter , cleaned MAF, new transmission filter and fluid, cleaned throttle body and plate, checked for intake leaks & vacuum, changed plugs, did coil spark test all 8 cylinders, did noid light test all cylinders, new 02 sensors. Still it will run fine one minute and next minute at low idle it will’s start stumbling, shaking, misfiring, traction control light, loss of power and sound like it’s about to stall out I’ll floor it down the road and I can actually hear it come out of it and regain full power again… I had it scanned by 3 shops and I’m losing my patience, however the last guy did say something about the VVT so now I’m really leaning towards that, I mean what the F else could it be!!??
@@SaltySnook from my understanding there’s a Variable timing bolt which has holes in the end that oil filters through screws inside your oil pump and then there’s the variable timing magnet. Both located in same spot right on top of the cam behind the water pump.
Mine did the same thing. I changed plugs wires. After a couple months it came back well it ended up being a lifter that seized. Fix that at a shop and it's been good ever since.
I'm thinking this is my problem. Pulled the valve cover and ran it, cylinder #5 rocker arm was stuck. What did they charge to pull the head and install new lifters?
Had the same issue. 09 Silverado. Replaced all plugs. Ended up being ignition coil no 6. Used an obdii tester and did spark plugs gap test to determine the issue.
My 09 2500 just started doing this. Changed all plugs, plug wires, #7 coil, and vapor canister purge valve. Also threw seafoam in tank as I had just fueled up. Still rough idle and same errors. Thoughts?
@@ThunderTruck2500HD so what happened with mine was a simple $50 fix. All it needed was a Throttle Positioning Sensor. Been about 2 months and no problem Hope this helps
I saw where a guy took all tire sensors and sealed them in a pvc pipe, and now just keeps it in the car (after he made sure they were set up correctly) I think if it ever bothers me enough, on my Ford, that's what I'll do too🙃 Thanks for sharing your fix. My gmc traction control just buggered on me, so at least I have a starting point. Gracias
My 07 started this a week ago watched this video last night went and got plugs and wires today,I also left the battery cable off to reset everything while I changed them, this fixed my problem! Thanks
Put seafoam in your oil, let it idle or drive for a half hour and then change oil...that will fix the oil sensor problem...may need to do more than once
@@503dcccccccccccc I was the spark plugs, that will also cause a knock. Get some new plugs and wires. Good video! Fyi: I had that happen to my 2014 camaro ss ….. it was my number 4 fuel injector! So if spark plugs not it. Look at that. Wires and coil pack too!
I changed the plugs and wires and still had the lights on stayed on so I watched about the throttle body being dirty clean it real good and that fixed it.
Stabilitrak This came up in my 08 GMC Sierra and it eventually went into reduced engine power mode which meant I couldn't give it no gas whatsoever. It would just crawl. Long story short it ended up being a throttle body sensor. A plastic piece on the side of the carburetor. But after you replace that, you have to have a code reader and reset all your codes or it will stay in reduced engine power. My experience.
@@SaraRodriguez-gr8wj are you able to drive or no? That throttle body sensor fixed mine but like I said I had to go to AutoZone and use the code reader to reset it

Did this work for you. I have a 2007 Yukon and stabilitrak light comes on about 80 percent of the time now. At first it came on less frequently but now it's almost guaranteed to come on. When light comes on the truck accelerates at about the same speed as my son's bicycle and if I'm trying to accelerate uphill I just get anxiety because it feels for certain that my truck is not going to make it up. This video is very uplifting bc my Yukon sounds/feels so bad that....I was almost ready to sell it for scrap metal bc I figured it would be a massive problem. I think I'm gonna start with the spark plugs and wires unless anyone has a better possible solution.
In my case, swapping the coil pack and plugs was useless.... I had an AFM lifter get stuck open.... Had to do a hard component AFM DELETE ... Swapped cam, lifters and reprogrammed....

I have a 2008 avalanche it’s showing the exact thing as yours exact both ttraction control and stability so I was driving fine to work on the freeway. I don’t know where it slowed down on me and started hearing like a clicking noise like if the motor or something but the truck had oil some people say it’s the motor they need to replace the whole thing, but I’ve been seeing a lot of videos here on RUclips gives me hope maybe because I’m a girl they’re trying to say it’s a motor and replace the whole thing
Mines was the front wheel bearing wire that rubbed against the strut. Not noticeable to the eye. It wasnt this missfire that everyone is talking about sometimes you gotta do a lil common sense diagnostic. Great video though got me into digging.
Hi, my 2005 Yukon Denali has started to do this. Unplug the battery cable for about 8 hours and start it and everything is fine for about 2 days when engine ans stsbilitrack lights come on. The truck loses power and starts to shake. Engine light do not blink. I replace all 8 ignition coils recently and spak and cables plugs a few months ago. Just replaced Bosch double platinum for original AC Delco spark plugs. At that moment was ignition coil #7 and that solve the problem. Will check spark plugs. Thanks!!
My saturn outlook is doing the same thing so im.going to get some spark plugs and trying it out just to see if it's the problem my stablitrak and traction control light came on loosing power check engine light started blinking as well thank for the video on this matter
Have you done this with one of these trucks? I did everything this guy is saying, before I watch the video. I've heard about the spacer, but are you saying it will turn off the stabili track code?
So, replace all spark plug and ignition coil will fix all the: Traction stabilitrak, service control and engine reduced power? Because that's what happen on my 2013 chevy silverado truck
Johnny my 07 Escalade keeps giving me a warning service traction control AND the stabilitrak keeps coming on and off I was thinking HUB assembly u think its the same issue?
All of the symptoms you mentioned are happening. As I'm delivering for door dash. I have to stop for the night because I don't want to cause any damage and I'm too uninformed in this area.
Michelle, 95% of the time you can keep driving the car, as long as the engine is not running rough and there's no red lights (oil pressure etc) lit up on the dashboard. In this case with a misfire and a rough engine it's an issue because unburnt fuel goes into the converter and clogs it, but most of the time check engine lights are sensor failures if the car is running fine. If in doubt, park the vehicle but more often than not, you don't have to.
@@kingjames3932 Ok, you have no comment history so I don't know where you're at in troubleshooting. Do you have a misfire? That would be codes P0301 to P0308. If yes, swap the suspectex misfiring coil with the one beside it, clear the codes, restart the vehicle. If the coil is bad, it'll give you a new code on the cylinder you moved it to. For example, if you get a 0304, swap the coils on cylinder 4 and 6. Clear the codes, restart and you'll now get a 0306 if the coil is bad.
I have a 2011 silverado 5.3l. I replaced the plugs at 90k, were sitting at 107k now. I had the rear brakes replaced and lines bled, the mechanic also tightened up the transmission dipstick. It started to do this (wife driving it) she said it was hard to start, then service traction control and service stabilitrak and went into limp mode. She turned it off waited 30 seconds and the problem went away. The truck ran fine and then 5 days later was hard to start so we tested the battery and it was bad and replaced it. Then 6 days later it does the same thing and then goes away. I hope it would be something as simple as spark plugs but I wouldn't think that 17k miles would foul them. We did run E85 for a while when gas prices were stupid expensive. It's just crazy because the symptom is take a few seconds to start, then service traction control and stabilitrak, then runs rough. Turn off engine and then its fine, but of course it doesn't happen all the time just every 5 days or so.
@@americanzacke I honestly don’t know what fixed it. I replaced the alternator, MAF sensor, then the crankshaft position sensor. One of those or all three fixed it

Javier Vega , I have. 07 and I’ve watched so many videos and the symptoms relate, but when I do what they say to fix it, nothing.... still same stuff. Mine is the #7 misfire and it’s due to a collapsed AFM lifter. Look up “before you remove your heads AFM FIX” it’s a quick fix that has a 75% success rate.
Javier Vega My 07 has this happening now , I had to remove valve cover to find Cyl 4 intake valve not working due to collapsed lifter .( Known issue on 5.3 L engines with AFM system) The AFM uses Cylinders 1,4,6,7 to basically make a v4 engine under light load conditions . Already replaced #4 coil and all 8 plugs and wires . Did a lot of searching on you tube to find this answer . More than likely is your problem also . I am pricing cost to rebuild myself or buy rebuilt long block to save time .

If you don't already go to Walmart and spend $20 on one of those little devices you plug into your truck and it helps tremendously on the smaller problems. You can also erase that check engine light so it disappears.

@@FernandoRodriguez-ds5ri have you fixed yours?
I had the exact same problem he described today on my 2011 GMC Sierra, 5.3L, 165k miles. Going down the road and the stabil- trac light came on, check engine light was flashing and the truck started missing/running rough. Noticed it was shifting hard as well. Got home, found this video on RUclips. I had the #1 plug to foul out last year so I tried that one first. Put in a new one in that cylinder and the warning lights went away and the truck runs fine again.
Glad you made the video, not sure why the Stabil-Trac is related to a plug misfire…..
I read into it if the cpu detects any misfire codes it'll automatically reduce engine power so the service traction control service stabilitrak will come up
The system needs accurate rpm information, in order to adjust for road conditions.
If you follow the advice on some of these videos you'll spend a fortune and fix nothing. SCAN

Nice to see an average joe like us explaining things. Helpful.
Goodluck I never had an issue after changing my plugs in this video!
Could be just low fluid could be a loose ground are one of the 5 wheel sensors I would check those first
@@Blackdynasty123 Thanks for the reply.

Thanks
Change your spark plugs lol
For me it was the main ground lead, $600 at dealership. Said cable was causing the electrical system to have too much resistance. Dealt with it for years before finally giving in to dealership. Well worth the cost. Would DIY if ever had to do again.
I am buying a 2008 Suburban Off Road conversion tomorrow directly from the auction. It shows that the Traction control signal is on showing just like yours but no check engine light. This video helped me. Im taking a chance but we will see.
Thanks for sharing the video.
Same issue, you figure it out? No engine light, so can't narrow it down.
Thank you for this video! Changing my spark plugs helped me with my 2010 GMC Sierra Denali and my Traction Control Light no longer comes on & stays on. The dealership said my ECM was going out and I also needed to change my oil pressure sensor(which was causing my check engine light to come on).

What did u do to fix?

What did you do to fix it while on the highway
My issue was two things. One was the plastic clamps on the electronic pig nose plug that goes into the throttle body was broken so it would come loose and throw the stabilitrak notification. Second the wire for this plug was hanging loose causing the pig nose to unplug while driving. I replaced the pig nose plug and used a zip tie to hold up the wire and hasn’t done it for over a year now.
How much did that cost?
Mine was hanging too and wires got matted together. Where did you buy yours
Lol, God bless you son 🙏. It's nice to see a special needs young man growing and being successful 👍
Truth is if there is a misfire, the engine light will blink. Always get an OBD scan to determine what cylinder it is, then you MUST change the spark plug and coil pack for that specific cylinder or the misfire will return.
Well thanx, bcuz I changed all my plugs, but not coil packs. Going back to have them find out which cylinder and replacing the coil. Thank you.
So it can run fine and just have intermittent issues? Cause that’s what mine does
I had the same thing going on with my 2008 yukon, took it to auto zone and it read that cylinder 6 was misfiring and i need valve springs and valve cover but now my truck have reduced power and my reverse gear does not work at times so i was told the problem is in my transmission so now i may have to get a new trans!!😭😭 But im praying this will fix All the problems.
I'm gonna attempt to get my burban to the shop for diagnostic....hopefully it's an easy fix. I changed the plugs and wires today and it didn't fix.

Lol just bought a avalanche yesterday then today at a stop it did the exact thing man thanks for the video
Nice👍 My 11 Sierra had the same issue, They also told me was sparkplugs or wiring and I found wire #6 was hitting the steering wheel Column
Cylinder 1 3 5 7 are a part of the dod. That is where the cylinders drop to a 4 banger to conserve fuel..... could be partnof the problem
My Truck just started doing this, I see all these comments of people doing it them self and I wish I can do it my self, GMC can get my Yukon in until a week from now.
Those ac delco brand are chevy sparkplugs
my yamaha f115 outboard fouled a plug like that because it was getting too much fuel to that cylinder.
THANK YOU! I had the same problem on 2013 V6 Silverado. New spark plugs fixed it.
What's the exact name of the $50. part you're referring to? VVT valve? VVT sensor?
@@SaltySnook from my understanding there’s a Variable timing bolt which has holes in the end that oil filters through screws inside your oil pump and then there’s the variable timing magnet. Both located in same spot right on top of the cam behind the water pump.
I think you might be right, because right now the change oil light is on
Mine did the same thing.
Had the same problem with my Camaro but it was a lifter. Your video was awesome with the description!
Would yours go into limp mode?
Had the same issue. 09 Silverado. Replaced all plugs. Ended up being ignition coil no 6. Used an obdii tester and did spark plugs gap test to determine the issue.
My 09 2500 is doing the same thing. Gonna replace the plugs and hope for better luck.
Been about 2 months and no problem
Hope this helps
I saw where a guy took all tire sensors and sealed them in a pvc pipe, and now just keeps it in the car (after he made sure they were set up correctly) I think if it ever bothers me enough, on my Ford, that's what I'll do too🙃 Thanks for sharing your fix. My gmc traction control just buggered on me, so at least I have a starting point. Gracias
My 07 started this a week ago watched this video last night went and got plugs and wires today,I also left the battery cable off to reset everything while I changed them, this fixed my problem! Thanks
My 18 doing the same thing. Just posted a quick video of it. My oil pressure gauge is moving up and down more than usual too
Put seafoam in your oil, let it idle or drive for a half hour and then change oil...that will fix the oil sensor problem...may need to do more than once
I did a video changing the oil pressure senor as well
You're going to change spark plugs you may just as well change your wires as well
These Ls engines are all coil over plug, no wires like the previous generation. I grew up with the old stuff too.
Thanks for this video, exact issue. From the forums I was concerned I had a stuck lifter.
What did it turn out being? I just ran into this issue except it’s got a slight knock
@@503dcccccccccccc I was the spark plugs, that will also cause a knock. Get some new plugs and wires. Not sure if u are mechanically inclined but all plugs except the back passenger side are very easy to change. Do one at a time rather than pulling all wires off at once. Also be gentle, if u break a plug off in engine it will be real trouble. Take care, good luck
@@tomworrall8310 my 2007 is doing the exact same thing as this video I just noticed that my truck has the ngk v power copper plugs instead of the iridium ac delco and has a very slight knock I have changed everything except plugs you might think that’s the problem?? I also heard these trucks want nothing but ac delco plugs
@@gueroburban4989The engine really needs the iridium ac delco plugs. Make sure they are iridium...
Good video! Fyi: I had that happen to my 2014 camaro ss ….. it was my number 4 fuel injector! So if spark plugs not it. Look at that. Wires and coil pack too!
Had the same issue.. Changed the #7 spark plug and the rest is history.. Both codes went away😎😎😎
Get used to changing number 7 twice a year to avoid this in regular basis. At very least once a year....
I changed the plugs and wires and still had the lights on stayed on so I watched about the throttle body being dirty clean it real good and that fixed it.
Thank you so much I had the exact same problem with the exact same lights so helpful thank you!!!!! 🙏🏼
Saved my butt I was in vacation the same thing happened to mine! Thanks a bunch!
I have same problem you did but mine 08 Yukon hybrid it will shut off with same problem your having I’m still not sure what it is
@@SaraRodriguez-gr8wj are you able to drive or no? That throttle body sensor fixed mine but like I said I had to go to AutoZone and use the code reader to reset it
Did yours have a noise? Mine is also a 08 GMC Sierra it has all the same problems but it also has a noise.
I can’t drive it either! Soon put in gear it cuts off and says the word
The noise sounds like in back of car like by back tires
thank you, just fixed my yukon today with a spark plug
I have a 2004 Yukon and my light blinks only when I’m doing 70mph any idea what I should do?
Big Kook chg spark plugs
This did work for about 5 minutes. Then all of my lights came back on. Turns out I had a bad lifter.
How much was the lifter?
????
@@eddiestafford6443 lifter 4 failed on my Tahoe, it was making a loud clicking noise, it also caused cylinder 4 to misfire so I tore into the head and replaced the pair of lifters, gaskets and lifters were a few hundred but my service stablitrak light is still on and it’s running rough
@@eddiestafford6443 cheaper to buy a used engine. Shop told me 5 grand. They have to pull both heads and adjust everything. Between the rust and lifters I will never buy another chevy
I got the same exact issues with a 2011 Yukon Denali.... Changed coil pack yesterday and changing plugs and wires today... We shall see.
Update
@@tristianhymes9231 did you fix the problem? My 07 tahoe is doing the same thing
Had the same exact problem, thank you sir, fixed it
I am having the exact same problem in my '09 Avalanche and I hadn't ever had any problems with my truck since I bought it 2 years ago!!! I thought I was screwed! I Just new I was about to pay out a fortune.... So thank you for this video!!! I'm going in the morning and buy a set of plugs and change them out. I certainly hope this is my fix as well!!!!! Thank you!!! My truck started acting like that 2 days ago, after I used FLEX fuel, my truck calls for it but I just never used it. When gas prices went up I thought I would give it a try and that's what I get....
Did the plugs make a difference??
Same 07 avalanche last week inpit $85 of flex for the first time T $3.06 a gallon now its rough and Trac light etc..blinking
I believe you have to tune it to use flex fuel.
I have this exact issue with my 2010 Chevy Malibu. Rough idle and the lights came on. Gonna try this
07 Silverado 4x4 had rough idle and would shift hard so changed sparks & nothing changed cable’s nothing changed tbs nothing 😂 changed map sensor and everything works perfect hope helps out for someone having trouble
I have the same problem in my car today ... I’m happy for this video.
Thanks
Mines was the front wheel bearing wire that rubbed against the strut. Not noticeable to the eye. It wasnt this missfire that everyone is talking about sometimes you gotta do a lil common sense diagnostic. Great video though got me into digging.
My 2014 Silverado has thrown misfire codes three times. Always a bad spark plug. This is a common problem in these 5.3 motors and GM won’t admit it.
Should of bought an older 2003-06 chevy those don't have those problems
My 02 silverado had over 300k miles on the motor. I changed the plugs in it once just because I felt like I should lol
Facts
Mine is a 2007? Same problem like this video you think spark plugs? And they are not ac delco??
My Cadillac dts had the same problem, my problem was cylinder 1 coil pack I got that changed and now its good
Good video my truck. Have the same problem but i changed the plug all the time 😢😢
there's a spacer with the thread to weld on the exhaust for 02 to make it think it has a cat. will shut off check engine
Have you done this with one of these trucks? I did everything this guy is saying, before I watch the video. I've heard about the spacer, but are you saying it will turn off the stabili track code?
If your having this exact problem please I repeat change your spark plugs ASAP !
So, replace all spark plug and ignition coil will fix all the: Traction stabilitrak, service control and engine reduced power? Because that's what happen on my 2013 chevy silverado truck
Check your wheel bearings. Mines doing the same thing. It was my wheel bearings causing stability trac to go off
Johnny my 07 Escalade keeps giving me a warning service traction control AND the stabilitrak keeps coming on and off I was thinking HUB assembly u think its the same issue?
I would think its in your hub.
Is there a way to tell which hub??
I had to take mine in.
All of the symptoms you mentioned are happening. As I'm delivering for door dash. I have to stop for the night because I don't want to cause any damage and I'm too uninformed in this area.
Michelle Talley I changed out the spark plugs and the codes went away
Michelle, 95% of the time you can keep driving the car, as long as the engine is not running rough and there's no red lights (oil pressure etc) lit up on the dashboard. In this case with a misfire and a rough engine it's an issue because unburnt fuel goes into the converter and clogs it, but most of the time check engine lights are sensor failures if the car is running fine. If in doubt, park the vehicle but more often than not, you don't have to.
@@lornes7526 change plugs no change
@@kingjames3932
Ok, you have no comment history so I don't know where you're at in troubleshooting.
Thank you for this video. You saving me some $ and very informative 👌
make sure you use ac delco spark plugs on those chevys and gmc's they are specific
I have same problems but i have a slight ticking when i accelerate. Did you have any ticking noise?
Can installing lift blocks cause ABS and Traction / stibili track light to come on (2013 Chevy Silverado WT)
Did your truck sound like the lifters where bad making a ticking noise
Turn off engine and then its fine, but of course it doesn't happen all the time just every 5 days or so.
what was wrong did u fix it what was wrong with it??? if u don’t mind me asking?
@@americanzacke I honestly don’t know what fixed it. I replaced the alternator, MAF sensor, then the crankshaft position sensor. One of those or all three fixed it
My 2012 Silverado 1500 is doing exactly the same thing. I did not change the spark plugs yet but I will. It looks like I have no compression in one of the cylinders. Did that happened to you as well? Thank you!
I have an 09 Silverado 1500 and mine does the same thing.it has a.f.m.systemin it and I changed everything but it still deos the same if you can help me find the problem I really appreciate it .thanjs
Javier Vega
My 07 has this happening now ,
I had to remove valve cover to find Cyl 4 intake valve not working due to collapsed lifter .( Known issue on 5.3 L engines with AFM system) The AFM uses Cylinders 1,4,6,7 to basically make a v4 engine under light load conditions . Already replaced #4 coil and all 8 plugs and wires .
Did a lot of searching on you tube to find this answer .
More than likely is your problem also .
I am pricing cost to rebuild myself or buy rebuilt long block to save time .
