I mean they've only been changing their sound for a decade now, it's nothing new. Also changing and challenging yourself is a part of art. Any type of artist knows this whether it be culinary or visual.

So their mindset in the band kind of shifts from anger to being more focused about being a mature 40 year old dealing with actual family issues. Literally when they were HALF their age, they came out with Hybrid Theory. And all that anger and angst was appropriate then. Now that they're approaching middle age, they're outlook on life has shifted and they're attitude towards life is more mellow and mature.
Heavy is a great song.

Not sure why so many people are talking shit about Heavy. I've been a Linkin Park fan since Hybrid Theory and I liked Heavy and I'm optimistic about the One More Light album. But I'm also not scared of change. I think change is smart in the music industry. EverythingIsMacabre depression isn't about being happy, its literally an illness. I'm sure he had times where he genuinely was happy but when you're alone, as he was when he did it, that's when the voices in your head tell you that killing yourself will solve everyone's problems. That you know that people around suffer due to your depression. And that it's a way out of hurting anymore. People who kill themselves don't want to die at all. You just want to live without those voices and nothing has helped no matter how hard you try.
GingerGuitarist I hope so! If you ever get in that place just keep telling yourself that youre not yourself in that moment. I've been there. I had to check into a hospital and get help. I'm better. I live by the motto now that tomorrow may be the day that everything turns around, but you won't know if you decide to never make it there. When I'm going through depressive states I have to tell myself to just make it to tomorrow each day.
