I was working up at Superman when this happened. I remember hearing a loud bang and looking over to see the train valleying between the loops. Didn't hear how bad it was until I was watching the news that night.

This ride was at Six Flags over Texas until 2012 I believe, was called the flashback. It used to have red tracks and teal support beams and structures. It was the 1st big coaster I ever rode as a kid, good times.

@@ConceptualCoasters I did the same for all the GCI ones I could get my hands on so I can't blame you.
I remember being there on a day where people got stuck on the tight loop, and it was kind of insane. I didn't even know about this accident! I haven't ridden it since it opened years ago because it was too short of a ride and very uncomfortable!
And this is why the old maintenance manager got fired. Well other reasons but this lead to it. The new one don’t give a crap if a ride has to close or remain closed if there’s an issue. Example he came in and thunder river was shut down for the first half of the 2019 season cause he wasn’t happy with the condition of the ride. Also helps that there’s a new park president who cares and a new ceo who actually realizes the neglect Jim Reid has on the funds for maintenance and is giving money to fix the problem.

I started working at SFSL at the beginning of last season. Greatest experience of my life. I made so many new friends and made lots of memories. Anyway, back on topic, Boomerang was down a lot during the end of last season. The train almost refused to complete the loop a second time. You’d be pretty lucky to go up Eagle Hill and see it running, let alone get a chance to ride. Quite often, the train was either valleyed in between the loop and lift 2, or broken down in the station. I’m not even very sure if it ran at all through Fright Fest. I typically work in the south or west sections of the park, so I wasn’t up there most of the time, but about every time I had a chance to see Boom during the end of the season, it was down. I think the ride is showing it’s age, being that it’s relocated from Texas.

I rode flying cobras at carowinds and felt extremely safe in the care of the ride ops minus the ride op that pushed my sisters otsr into the shadow realm. She told me that she later had a bruise from how hard the op pushed her restraint in. I wonder why?

We have this ride at a theme park in my hometown here in the UK called PleasureWood Hills. They've named the ride "WipeOut", It's always breaking down, getting stuck at the second peak.

I rode this ride and never felt it was dangerous, although there were a ton of rumors that the Boomerang gave people whiplash.
The transition into that second lift is so janky that it's the best part of the ride

Honestly if a failure bad enough to derail a car lead to only mild injuries, I'd call that evidence *for* coasters being safe. Defense in depth: the first layer failed, which absolutely shouldn't happen, but other layers of safety were still there.

Great video and some people who don’t believe roller coasters are safe need to realize how they are safe and that there is a huge amount of effort parks and manufacturers put into making these attractions safe for everyone.

I think it could use:
-Some rerecording for line delivery in certain locations, making it feel a slight bit more natural
-I can hear mouse clicking in the background during certain sections
-be a bit more careful not to stumble on your words, while there was nothing major, I did notice one small moment.
-Add in some non-speaking sounds or it can get very boring very fast. For example, some low volume non-copyright background music, or breaking up segments of talking with a small video clip of what you are talking about that isn't purely visual. It doesn't even need to be extremely related, just a clip of people screaming on a rollercoaster between sections of the video or something
Also, make sure in your explanation of why the roller coaster is safe, you mention why the specific issue referred to is not common among coasters (Ex. A car rolling backwards is less common than a video might make you think due to anti-rollback mechanisms) instead of just something they did AFTER an issue occured and some general statistics about coasters. Specifics about why it wouldn't occur often due to things done BEFOREHAND with general statistics help reassure people more than just general statistics alone would.

no one leaves the ride hurt aside from headbanging, but that’s not the ride being unsafe. it is just as safe as any other coaster in the park

I actually have a funny/bad ride ops story about Boomerang at Knots Berry Farm from when my sister and I were little. Probably around 2005 or so.
My parents were not the safest and use to put my little sister and I in thick souled, almost platform, shoes so we could go on the big rides. No idea I was in so much danger because of my parents as a child, but to the story.
My sister was about 6 or 7 and she measured up, thanks to the shoes, for the Boomerang (but not ghost rider for some reason. Good ride ops! Probably noticed the shoe trick!) and she got on with my mom. She begged the ride ops to let her out but my mom insisted she was fine and they made her ride anyhow, which I don't think is allowed anymore. My mom said she held her breath the ENTIRE RIDE!! When they got into the station, my sister let out all her lungs had held and screamed that she wanted to go again!
So they got back in line and the same thing happened. The ride ops poked at my mom and my mom rolled her eyes and told them they had just ridden and my sister was just had jitters. They made her ride again and I swear, she nearly flew out of the ride the second time. She again held her breath but this time my mom told her she was done riding for the day.
Glad to see ride ops are a bit more diligent about this now and don't force riders to ride, especially if they are being forced by a cheaty parent!

I'm not going on Corkscrew Coaster 1. It isn't safe.
Parks should inspect their rides thoroughly every quarter. And normal check daily. Not when something tragic happens.
I operate boomerang almost daily, in order to open every single ride in our park we have to have 5 different inspections on it, each ride gets inspected daily and the second it’s not preforming correctly the ride does not open. Ride operators aren’t even allowed to touch the ride if the safety inspections aren’t signed off, but each ride gets inspected daily before it can open

@@ConceptualCoasters I dont remember the name it might been ski sumthing. But as a kid my dad to me the bucket fell 100ft that happen in st.louis 78 I think close in 81 the ride did.

This coaster is crap. Too many people complain of headache and backache whenever they ride it. I rode it in 2016, and yeah, it's pretty rough.

Im sorry, but that was a knockoff gp to enthusiast video. I dont see the reason either of you would do this type of video because about 90% of your subs are already enthusiasts and are not scared of coasters and do not think they are unsafe in any way.
I do this because my goal is to branch beyond my subscribers and also teach the enthusiasts more. And it was very much so inspired by GPTE, however I got his permission to make it beforehand
He asked if he could do this video, I would not have covered this accident anyway.
