I just love your music intro ❤ it’s a feel good song. I was going through a terrible time a few years ago recovering from surgery and found your channel then and it made me feel really good bc I love gardening ❤ thank you
My new way to water is using milk jugs with a tiny hole pricked in it for a slow drip. I just make sure every plant has their own jug which makes monitoring water amount easier and everything is doing so well through the summer so far, including new baby transplants in this 97 degree heat.
That's a great use of milk jugs! Are you burying the jugs next to the plants like an olla? Or are you just putting them next to the plant on top of the soil? I'm just starting a container garden and I've been thinking of using ollas but they'd take up so much room in my containers.
@@jennywren76 I just put them on top of the soil, then I can grab them and refill them all without dragging the hose. My other advice would be put the hole about 2 inches from bottom so a little water remains and the jug won't blow away lol I've learned that the hard way.
That is a fantastic idea! This is precisely why I always read the comments section on these videos. 👍😎😇
@@fortwillie that’s why we all
Do. Haha. Our “neighbors” are the best resource.
Great idea. Although, I would have to buy over a hundred jugs for all my plants! 🤣 It’s gotta work better than my drip irrigation set up that I currently run for 2 hours at a time & my plants are STILL dehydrated 😡
Try some Ceder Chips (Used for pet litter) The dust and chips stick to the leaves to keep insects away. It worked for me.
Great timing! Last season I tossed an old cucumber into my yard and forgot about it. I had just added new soil to plant something else and when I went back I had tons of cucumber plants coming up. I'm going to test a toss and grow garden... See if it works
I did that several times with yellow eggplants, but didn't get any young plants.I guess they were GMO vegetable.
Non GMO are not allowed in my country.
I have a cucumber plant that stopped producing and now I know why. You really have to stay on top of the gherkin variety. They grow fast!
What's going on Growers? I am harvesting cantaloupe and watermelon from my garden and it's sooo yummy 😋
P.s💛💚❤️🐕🐶 hearts for tuck
Thank you James for being you
Let's Gooo!! nothing like fresh cantaloupe, sooo dang good! Watermelon tooo!! you're crushing it!!
Thanks for the hearts and love, keep growing and keep harvesting!
James is iconic gardening figure of our time!
James you are abundantly blessed! Your own garden of Eden! Tuck is adorable 🥰 Thanks again for the best garden tips! Take care
This guy is a total garden nerd. He's my kind of people.😀
I see a variety people saying to water from the bottom, on both flowers and veggies, but rain comes from above so I still don’t understand why it’s so crucial to water from below??
1:27 HOLY COW!! That cucumber gets you serious bragging rights James!
Hi James, I have been taking your advice and oh my! My garden is massive, thanks so much!
Let's Gooo Basil!! Me and Tuck are glad to hear that, we hope you get some massive harvests out of it this year and in the future!
@@jamesprigioni u really r in a food forest there u and Tuck, God bless u both, gr8 vid
ps heard cukes love nettle tea - maybe from u.... idr....
Amazed he can get so many cukes without pollinator plants around
This is the first video I've watched that mentioned not watering the leaves! This is important to know - thank you!!!
One's enthusiasm is quite infectious plus the fact one gives out such good advice.unfortunately the country that I myself reside isn't known for its sunshine.
No fails in the garden, It's all about learning and perspective :)
Over 1 million!!! The Gardener Whisperer indeed!!!!
Sweet Tuck looks so tired and sleepy.
It's too dang hot out there for the sweet little guy with the dark colors fur
I've been watching you for quite a bit now James and at 70 I have learned so much from you. And Tuck of course too. I also enjoy your garden so much too. Keep up the good work young man! God ess you and Tuck.
I literally just harvested my first cucumber today, so perfect timing! ❤️❤️❤️❤️s for Tuck.
Thanks for the reminder to check my cukes today! The cluster of plants is tucked in a corner and it's the one plant I forget to check. Good tips! I plant Suyo Long, have never seen a beetle on it.
James and Tuck, a beaming light of what is right in the world. Love your channel.
Another tip: choose a self pollinating, parthenocarpic variety like beit alpha, it will double to triple harvests alone
Good morning James and Tuck ❤️
Good morning my friend from down under!
My greenbeans stopped producing when I stopped pulling them...but I have seeds that I'll get from them...heirloom seeds.
Your dog is a big feature for your great work thnx.
Re: squash: PLEASE tell us how you handle /deter the squash vine borer ? Also 🤗🥰 for Tuck!
Sweet Tuck. Great video, James!!!! You're knowledgeable, direct and fun to watch. 💚💚
At one time, I had over 100 rose plants (crazy, right?). Japanese beetle heaven! Before RUclips and Internet, I would make tobacco tea (3 fingers chewing tobacco in boiling water; turn off the heat let sit until cool, add some mint mouthwash, put in tank sprayer and spray away. No beetles will stay. Over the years, the beetles just never came to my yard I think because they weren't there to drop down and lay their eggs. I think this simple solution might work for cukes if one could spray just leaves. It's a whole lot cheaper, not as messy, looks better. This will be my 1st year growing cukes, I'm gonna try it on them, will let you know . I had cucumber beetles even without growing cukes, just tomatoes and roses, they replaced Japanese beetles for destruction on the roses. Luv ya from across the DMB, DE
Your videos have inspired us to garden. We bought our house about 2 years ago, and the previous owner raised bird dogs in the backyard. The backyard barely has grass, the ground is very uneven, and it just isn't serving us. We are hoping to basically turn our backyard into gardens with paths between them. We currently have 6 raised beds. We started with one bed and a compost bin last year, and this year, we've expanded. I'm SO excited! I learn so much from you and the boss in every video. Thank you so much!
I am always fascinated on how you turned something into many kind of dishes. They are so mouth watering 🤤! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
Tuck is so healthy and having a great long life because he eats good veggies! ❤
Give Tuck a hug for me.
Thank you!! I’m a first time gardener and loving it. I also live in NJ. 👍🏻
Hello Susan how are you doing and how’s the weather over there? I was going through comments when I came across your post.. I would love to be a friend, would be nice if you can add me up, i hope you don’t mind?
So glad this came up. I was just kind of like my cucumbers this morning……
I like to use an old igloo wheeled cooler as a seat while I play in the garden and a carrier for my tools. :)
I love your energy and of course Tuck! Tuck is adorable!!!
Your information is priceless to us newbies! You are a blessing.
Thank you brother. I love your work. God bless you and your dog❤
Hi James and Tuck...love your enthusiasm and your passion for gardening. You have so much knowledge, and explain things so well. Thank you!!
Your knowledge & energy are so amazing. So helpful. Love your videos! Hugs to Tuck, the adorable pup
Love your videos, the enthusiasm and positivity, and Tuck. ❤️ Thank you for putting this info out there for all of us to learn from them.
In Georgia, we use 3 layers newspaper, 4 " pine straw. We leave 2 feet between plants, in tomato
cages. We plant directly in the ground.
Those are the longest cucumbers I have ever seen! 👏👏👏
You are my Gardening/Cucumber role model! Gosh, i wish i had harvests like that.
I so love this channel. I have a small garden as well in my backyard here in Florida and I use no pesticides, fertilizer, growth hormones, etc. I just water my plants with rainwater, and if rain is scarce, I use filtered tap water. It rains here almost every day this summer and my plants are so green and healthy. Mother nature is taking care of all of them. Thank you for sharng all these wonderful videos. I have yet to watch them one at a time🥰
This is absolutely amazing. Your great tips for gardening and overall how much value you give us by sharing your journey and experience is just priceless. I started my own very tiny garden this summer and your tips have been nothing but a life changer. Thank you again and send much love and happy gardening.
Hi James what an amazing harvest. Still over 40 days with no rain and temps at 104 to 110, most all of Texas is real bad. We have in our channel all the struggle we went though and we are done until the fall. This drought is the worst we have seen in a very long time. Blessing to you and your family.
Water rationing in Central Texas.
@@MaLiArtworks186 Yeah, it's real bad. The garden is for the most part done with the exception of some of the grow tables.
I always love your enthusiasm!! Perspective really is everything. Fabulous garden, you're a real artist. Thanks for everything you share, it's made a world of difference in my gardening over the years 😊
Lots of information but brief and concise. Love the enthusiasm. Thank you!
Great teaching ❤❤
Hi James and Tuck I’m in north Tx and when my cucumbers start growing they turn yellow and die. Yes it’s been in the triple digits for a while and I water everyday. Top is dry quick yet bottom of bucket is wet. Plants are all producing yellow fruit. I love your channel and especially enjoy Supervisor Tuck.
I know what your talking about, I live in south Tx near the gulf and its been like 108. I think what you should do is add more holes in the bucket to prevent root rot since its always wet, and mulch heavily. You could use gardenstraw for the mulch it works great for me or just some leaves
@@omarvaldivia8297 thanks Omar!
Holy Snarkies! You've gotta be the cucumber king of NJ. Well done!
Thanks so much for this. For most of us gardeners, insect management is one of the most difficult to master - especially if you are wanting to use less or zero poisons and insecticides. Much love to 💞💞💞 TUCK 💞💞💞
Wow, plant burpless to limit bugs! No burps, no bugs! Thanks for that great tip! Love all the information. So nice to see that you have several varieties of cucumber. Look at that harvest! Impressive! I know you've mentioned kaolin clay before, like for the fruit trees. Had no idea how you got it onto the trees. But in this video we get a peek at the sprayer you used for the cucumbers. Now I know! Thank you!
James and Tuck are the best!
Congratulations! Over one million subscribers! Great job! Thank you!
Thank you for the tips. You got yourself a great cucumber harvest there😊
I believe it is your soil that makes your Garden so Awesome!

Loved these tips James! Sending love to you and Tuck! Thanks for all that you do! 🙌🏻💞🥒
Tuck looks just like my yorky……..precious
I learn something new each time I watch a new video. Thanks so much.
The last couple years here in Middle Tennessee I've had a hard time with cucumbers. This year growing the Bet Alpha Israeli cucumber, it is raining cucumbers and they are absolutely delicious.
Love your video and I was already following about everything you put in there, but it's nice to get the reassurance from someone who does it more than I do. thanks for all the great information. Dave Fairview TN
Awesome info! Thanks, James and Tuck!🥰
All good advice. We got a lot of cucumbers this year out of only 3 plants. Tuck is adorable.
I'm taking in all the tips on cucumbers since this is the first time I'm growing them. Definitely want to try that Asian variety you mentioned. Cucumbers are such an interesting and complicated plant to grow, but I find it rewarding and a learning experience as you mentioned. Appreciate the advice brother.
man brother you have a really wonderful garden. Also love that energy. thank again for the tips keep up the good work.
James and Tuck. We did the pruning you taught in another video and picked the cucumbers before fully ripe. We did that in 2 buckets. Had enough to share and tried my hand at pickles. Genius. Hope Tuck is feel well these days Zone 6b Ct. USA. Upbeat channel I love. Thank you.
Great channel-- so much helpful information, compactly presented. Upbeat, encouraging. Thanks, James! 👍🥒
Another great video by James and Tuck, my cucumber harvest has greatly improved thanks to this channel. Keep up the great work you two!
James is a great teacher. Thanks to him and his pruning technique my Cukes are many. Tuck is adorable.
Love your enthusiasm, it really shows this in this video. 👍🏻
Today I finally started putting my first layer of woodchips down on my future Food Forest. Thanks for all the helpful advice!
Thanks for the valuable tips James and Tuck!!
Hi Tuck and James Thank you for your advice 😊
This is cool. You are the same guy that gave me my pallet raised bed design. I have made two and everybody has liked them. They are still doing well after 4 years. I used oak pallets which were hard as a rock, but they look great. Looking forward to following your cucumber advice.
Good tips. I agree covering with insect netting when young. I don't bother spraying for cucumber beetles. I just succession grow them.
I used Ollas this summer in NZ for cucumbers and tomatoes. Best garden yet and did have to use as much watering. I used your trails method worked a treat.
Very fresh cucumber and vegetables plants...so cute puppy...wish you success and be healthy always
I love your videos!!! You are so informative and I love your enthusiasm you have with each video
Great information! Thanks for working up a sweat for us, Love the Tuckster❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wow thank you I love learning things from you and cucumbers. Is the top of my of my favorites
Hey brotha love the info and enthusiasm! Keep up the good work, appreciate ya
Thank you so much for the information. I never have luck with cucumbers in my South Florida garden
What about planting marigolds around tomatoes and cucumbers for the beetles? Great harvest James,. I'm in Arizona high desert so it's always a water issue. I'm going to plant this year in large pots with the bottoms cut out and the pot planted in the ground a few inches that way I'm hoping to concentrate the water and control the water flow. I like your garden foreman Tuck he's so cute. Thanks for the good info.
Watching from Trinidad, love how neat your garden looks, nice tips🥰🥰🥰
Great garden! Thanks for good cucumber growing tips.
Love your video’s! Thank you for all the great advice! ❤️❤️Tuck!
Thanks James. Mine are really struggling.
Hello Patty how are you doing and how’s the weather over there? I was going through comments when I came across your post.. I would love to be a friend, would be nice if you can add me up, i hope you don’t mind?
Man, those cucumbers are ginormous!! Great garden sir!!! 😮
I like what you said. Nothing happened in the garden is bad it’s just perspective. We can always learn something from our mistakes. I just made a mistake today in my garden and feeling bummed by it… Thank you for the pep talk! :)
Thank you for the good tips to grow the cucumbers
