    The best way to look at this from may be to look at the dinosaurs as an invasive species. They might be able to survive for a time on the plant life available in a certain area, but overtime they will decimate what is available and move to areas where it feed it more readily available. That could be at least part of a reason at least larger species would move to warmer climates.

      Yeah I was about to say some thing like this. It really isn’t that complicated, life always follows the easier path. Why would they stay in freezing weather if there was perfectly fine weather just a little further south. Also it’s not like they would’ve magically popped in there, they need time to get there

      Its next to impossible not to mess up on some level a dinosaur movie in 2024. Let´s say you want David Icke style dinosaurs which have the potential to somehow become reptilians - that results in too predictable characters. For Hollywood that sounds great because that means more sequels but no need to specifically emphasize quality. The original Jurassic park films were made for people who believed that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago, and each had its own story line which enabled slow world - buildup. If you write a script or a western something and choose not to publish it too soon - your idea, your story, and it´s uniqueness might have potential and even then something might fail and you would have to recreate it from start.

    It's possible that the word we should be focusing on is "isolated", not equatorial - like critically endangered species today, the dinosaurs survive in their greatest numbers in protected/isolated regions where humans can't get to them. "Equatorial" is only specified because the film is set in a tropical region.

  • @F.Taborsky
    @F.Taborsky 4 месяца назад +50

    Well, actualy the plot about dinos dying off is more realistic than we think. We must not forget that they were introduced forcefully to multiple environments that may not be suitable for their natural needs. Yes, there were videos on the Dino tracker portraying Brachiosaurus in a snowy forest, but that does not mean that the Brachy lived happy and healthy live. Same for the Apatosaurus amd Parasaurolophus in Dominion. Elefants too are endothermic and can survive in the snowy areas for temporary period and even enjoy it, but that does not mean that we can introduce them to Alaska and they will thrive there. Moreover, InGen dinos may have been modified to withstand modern climate, but they were never meant to live outside Isla Nublar or Isla Sorna. So I really doubt InGen made them "winter-proof". Also they were raised by people in enclosed and controled environment and were supplied by specific sources of food to keep them healthy. Modern world covered mostly by africultural land with occasional islands of forest areas may not and will not offer such variety and amounts of food to fulfill their needs. So, after some time, when the limited sources are depleted, animals will migrate to other areas where they can find what they need. The next problem is that in other than tropical and subtropical areas with complicated acces there are human settlements everywhere. And these urbanised areas are everything else but suitable for grazing herds of megafauna. That is why we do not have european/american lions, wild cattle, wild horses, european elephants and american mastodonts anymore... sooner or later the desire to get rid of problematical dinosaur encounters will raise. And the outcome will be a natural, or a violent transfer of dinosaurs to more wild and untouched areas of the planet. And last but not least, the utopical ending of Jurassic World Dominion is more like a stupid fairy tale and THAT is what actualy disregards the whole franchise. Do not forget that all of the previous movies amd even Michael Crichton himself shows us that dinosaurs out of their paddocks are a living nightmare for multiple and very serious reasons.

    • @F.Taborsky
      @F.Taborsky 4 месяца назад +4

      @@SwrveYT Ok, I forgot about that, but neither that is a prove they were supposed to live in cold climate. San Diego biome is classified as "arid and Mediterranean like, with common temperatures between 14° in January and 22° in August". That is not much "cooler environment", moreover San Diego was again a zoo-like facility which could ensure the comfort for dinos even in winter. Jurassic Park Europe was canonicaly supposed to be build on Azores, which are in subtropical, "mild to warm" climate, with temperarures similar to the continental Portugal. And Jurassic Park Japan was planned to be built on an island near Guam, which is located in Micronesia with "tropical marine climate".

    Other than that, I really don't think the different climate alone would cause Dinosaurs (as whole) to die off since they're a very diverse and adaptable group of animals (even today). The other movies aside the first two are derivates or inspired in some specific sections at maximum.
      The only two movies that are a literal adaptation are the first two, that´s why those are still the ones that feel like the original style, they have Spielberg, Crichton, ILM, and Stan Winston.

    You raise some good points, I would like to see stories on mainland showing how people would deal with dinosaurs. For me I would like to see a story about people who see dinosaurs as invasive species and hunt them.

  • @MichaelTenn-w4g

    I think it's important to remembers that it says they thrive in "equitorial environments", not necesarily on the equator, and to add to that an equetorial environment is described to be regions that often experience a hot climate with little seasonal variation, like with that description you could say they can live in Florida, overall I think it's more like, imagine them in warm places that don't get sevear winters, like we won't be seeing them in Canada and possibly the top half of the U.S. outside of deserts, like these things need a lot of food as well which isn't really easy to come by in winter

    They needed the next step for the entire idea.
    JP 1, JP2 and JP3 were "aaah, we're on an island with dinosaurs. We need to get off that island"
    And the writers were ... "What else can we tell? ..."
    JW 1 : ' in the end the idea of a park worked. So now lets imagine the same from before with an island full with 15k tourists, lol'
    JW2 (I actually very appreciate that conclusive decission) : the entire island is completely threatened with every single dinosaur on it because it FCKNG EXPLODES and some crazy maniacs save all of the dinosaur-species from the archipelago.
    -> NEW BIG INITIAL SITUATION: NOW THE DINOSAURS LIVE EVERYWHERE AROUND THE GLOBE ...
    All of this were conclusive steps ...
    And then universal noticed .. they actually don't fckng know what to tell with and how to use this intital situation.
    So they quickly click-spamed all the necessary 'undo'-buttons and said "fck, go back, GO BACK!" ...
    THAT is the biggest problem ...

    Remember, just because the climate is favorable to dinosaurs in 2023 doesn’t mean that it will be so in 2028. An eruption of Krakatoa hundreds of years ago plunged the northern hemisphere into a 2 year mini ice age with brutal long winters resulting in widespread famine. If that were to happen again then many dinosaurs might not be able to survive it. And even though some species can thrive in cold climates as shown in Camp Cretaceous and Dominion, most may not be able to survive extended periods of cold or survive but not very well. Not just because of the cold but also food supply as I’m sure it takes a lot of vegetation to sustain large herbivorous dinosaurs.

    I think this is the way to go. A lot of fans ( including myself ) hated how the dinosaurs spread all across the globe in the span of a few years. Yes some were sold at the auction and genetic power was unleashed. But it would've been so much better if they were restricted to only certain climates. Which is what Jurassic World Rebirth is doing. It also goes back to one of the old taglines for Jurassic Park 4 that was " Evolve or die " something like that. So this could mean that the dinosaurs have failed to adapt to rapid climate change or unable to get the necessary resources.
    There is also the possibility that hunting lead to the decline of some of the dinosaurs on the mainland.

    Also even prehistorically not all dinosaurs lived in tropical climates. There were so many kinds of dinosaurs living in so many different climates across the globe. Even one kind of T-rex lived in the snow. So it doesn't make any sense why they would shift every single one of the dinosaurs to tropical environment.
    Edit: I would also like to add that I think Jurassic world rebirth is misunderstanding why people hated Dominion. We loved that dinosaurs are spreading all over the world. It opens the door so much potential. It let us imagine so many interesting scenarios and stories of how humans are gonna live in a new world like that. What audience actually were disappointed by is that dinosaurs weren't the central conflict but some oversized bugs who people didn't care about. How then is killing off dinosaurs going to solve that?
