Hey Evan at a total cross road in life just completed test for license selling life insurance n now i picked up a job to sell steaks n seafood the only thing is they travel far and often. Im thinking about doing both to test my Grit. Or should i just focus on one any advice?
#1. "You can actually make more money being smarter than being strong or fast." That has to be by far the best one, that was so profound and well said. Thanks Evan.
Michael Jordan made some serious money after his NBA career was over by making smart business decisions. So did Magic Johnson. Both were strong and fast.
@@sagatuppercut2960 true, but there are more billionaires who are non-athletes. I think that's his point. Intellectual property is more valuable that physical talent.
@@sagatuppercut2960 and in all fairness, Mr. Smith wanted initially to be a sports star. In this video he pointed out that his mom convinced him that he was a better scholar than athlete.
W-e-l-l, I don't know if I want to believe your comment. There are many people with PHD's and Masters but they' re making less than a hundred thousand a year. These are the people who did the five years of college and possibly more time at other institutions of learning. When they come out, they owe $500,000 in school loans and what happens? They land a 'good job' to prove to the world that higher education pays off.........That 'good job' pays ...........$100,000 a year !!!!
Thanks Evan for showing positive influences of black men that or success by other things besides being football players, basketball players, and rappers
yeah but this dude is not the norm.. he obviously wanted to be a sports guy but didn't have the tools... people make it how they can so stop criticizing sports stars although it's stereotypes involved no one criticizes white athletes with same goals.

Mama said, " you're a better scholar than you are an athlete." The wisdom of a mother who knows and can see the real potential of her son even before he realizes or can see it is priceless. These words should be spoken in more black households.
This man is amazing. He: 1. Proved that a Black man can be successful without being a performer or a sports superstar. Make more money being smarter than by being strong or fast. 2. Became an "overnight" sensation after years of hard work. 3. There is more to him than just "business as usual." 4. Gives back to the "community". "Dream Big," "Act on your intentions," and "Develop grit" all, go hand-in-hand. Evan, thank you again, for consistently introducing me to positive, success people.
James Unn, That's been proven. What he proved is a black man shouldm't wait for others to live his dreams. Especially, validation from white people. More importantly, he showed how to get paid for your labor and intellectual capital and not be robbed which blacks have been getting for over four hundrend years.
JAMES DUNN How naive can you be? All of our sciences came from blacks. Blacks were involved in science, medicine, engineering,.... thousands of years before we even existed.
There were several things that Mr. Smith said that stuck with me: 4) Act on your intentions, 7) Find your drive, and 10) Develop grit. I used these rules when, after retiring, I returned to college and 8-years later, received a master degree in information systems/cybersecurity because I wanted to learn something different and create an "encore career." Great video!!
Number 4 "Act on your Intentions" because we all have dreams but until we take action, there just that dreams... Faith without works is dead...James 2:14-26
"Intelligence can create huge profits." "Intellectual capital cannot be taken away and doesn't require money." "Take risks, do things differently." Don't work a job instead come up with an idea that will help the world. "If you can't solve simple problems now then you won't be able to solve difficult problems later."
The man didn’t mention any setbacks or disappointments. I can’t believe for a minute that as much as he has achieved and as far as he has traveled through his journey he hasn’t had any, so I must conclude that… He just didn’t let them affect him! That all by itself is extremely inspirational! Thank you for interviewing this inspirational man!
Best quote: "You can actually make more money being smarter than being strong or fast" Dear Evan, thanks for sharing those stories with us! "Act on your intentions" In order for our goals or dreams to come true we must act on it. Everything said are words into you actually put some action behind it.
I know I am watching this at the right time but I must admit that I wish I watched it one year ago. Thank you for posting this Evan and #BelieveTeam. Mr. Robert Smith and I have some commonalities (similar first degrees, similar drive and similar philosophy) I am truly happy that I am watching this at the age of 25. I love all of his rules. He was inspired by James Bond, I am very much inspired by Bruce Wayne. A few things he has said that resonate with me... 1. "You can actually make more money being smart than you can by being strong or fast. The importance of developing Intellectual Property can not be underestimated." 2. Running your own race demands trusting yourself even when others don't. 3. You have to put consistent action behind your vision for it to manifest. 4. Dreaming BIG is a very important part of running your own race. 5. Have and demonstrate GRIT. 6. Education is not enough. BE PERSISTENT. I know theoretically that I will have to put in the 10,000 hours. This reinforced the need for those 10,000 hours on the road to perfecting my craft. The 2 most Important Rules of Value From: Robert F. Smith I've always lived by: #3 Know Your Selfworth & #5 Dream Big. Keep going no matter What !! God Bless
Acting on your intentions is the biggest thing I need to learn. Put the rip cord basically because I'm always planning but never done anything I just need to take the plunge. #BTA18
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Berthony. Agree, sometimes we just need to take the plunge or even start with small action at a time. All the best to you! :) #BTA332 Shine
I came here after reading that Mr Robert Smith pledged a grant to clear all the student debt for graduating class of 2019 at Morehouse College and wanted to know who he was and what he was about - thank you for making this video! I sponge took-in everything but the bonus bit at the end brings it home for me - perserverance and grit! I am starting to BELIEVE in myself again!
Traciy Curry-Reyes TV Crime Sky I drove for him during the Superbowl here in Atlanta in February. Spent several hours with him and his wife one on one.
This guy is really inspiring I’d never heard of them before. Like when he said, “understand your background but don’t let it hold you back”. The work ethic, the understanding that you are in control of your own destiny, it’s all stuff that we’ve heard before but it’s great to hear it from somebody who actually put it in the practice with magnificent results.
Evan Carmichael I just read that he dumped his wife of 30 years who had given him his children so that he could marry a playboy bunny. Sort of lost a little bit of respect for the guy at that point. I guess he’s just a man after all
@The Beautiful One Exactly. He's talking black but sleeping white. He knows his history but it clearly didn't impact him enough to want a wife that looks like his black mother and grand mother.
"Enjoy Figuring Things Out" Fact is everyday people have to figure things out. Life in general comes with problems daily, and having the joy to figure things out will make the process of learning how to solve the problems smoother.
"Running your own race means trusting yourself even when others don't." I can see why Number 2 sticks out with you the most, Evan. It resonates with me, too. In fact it reminds me of the saying from E.E. Cummings, "To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else is the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." Thanks for posting this video, it is right on time.
In addition to “no one can take intellectual property from you and it requires no equity” biggest keys that resonate with me are: “act on your intentions” and “develop grit”
To me, everything he said was food for thought. I did not know of Mr. Smith until I came across your video. Thank u Evan for bringing him to light. Your videos r inspirational & encouraging. Hope u nvr go away.
No.8 is my fav, figuring things out the box has always been my thing, I don't take things at surface level, deep meaning and making it work is my kinda thing.
I like points 2 & 4 which are: Trust Yourself & Act on Your Intentions. Have faith in yourself to make your dreams live and come true and then Get Up and DO IT. Stop dreaming and Start Living and things will come together. These are things I am doing now, so they really resonate with me. Great convo. Enjoyed the story of his journey.
First of all thanks to Evan and Alethia white(good request), for this Video. *Trusting yourself went right through my soul but these 3 points impacted me greatly. *Act on your intentions:if you don't act on your intentions who will know what they are or how will you impact people without your intentions manifesting in your Actions . *Enjoy figuring things out . This has encouraged me to seek and keep seeking and help me produce quality services with Excellence .If you don't figure things out how will you be a path finder. *Develope Grit , we all at some point in life struggle with dependency at all levels but without Grit we won't be able to bring out and share our hidden potentials with the world around us.
Evan, thank you so much for doing this. My favorite is "KNOW YOUR SELF WORTH", I think it's important to believe in yourself before you rely on others, it could ultimately effect your self esteem.
really enjoyed his word choices Rules for Success (Robert F Smith): develop your mind - intelectual property - constantly evolving - no one can take it from you - takes no capital trust yourself - know yourself - value yourself consistently act on intentions - dream big - commit to your career - demonstrate working hard is your priority get your drive / motivation enjoy learning / troubleshooting / networking - reap rich dividends from hard activities - joy of figuring things out perfect your craft - devote hours 100hr work weeks [practice makes perfect] understand all the nuances of your craft develop endurance - handle rejection - figure things out yourself - fight problems: understand & find unique personalized solutions
Developing grit, being committed and enjoying figuring things out. He explained that his life didn’t happen without serious effort, discipline and lots of time put in to make the life he wanted happen. When he didn’t know what to do or know what something was, he took the time to study it and figure it out and I truly respect that. The deeper message there gave me a lot to think about and is also inspiring. Thanks for putting this video together.
My favorite.... know your self worth. I work with a business model the makes others wealthier. I have pivoted my business to further ensure that I share in that wealth creation. Thank you, Evan. Being a person of color, I appreciate hearing from another person of color in BUSINESS.
I am thankful to hear Robert F Smith's comment on what some of his colleagues thought about him they thought he was crazy. So I feel like he's my brother not only for that reason but what I'm saying is there are number of people that think I'm crazy however it's not about being crazy it's about exercising your faith.....
One of his great Rule: " being committed to your career". This is so much more than I have a JOB, it is a devotion to your skill, talent and craft. It means that your know your stamp of what you do and your contribution.
"You can make more money being smart than being strong or fast". this quote stood out to me because I have always been taught to get my education, whether it be formal(college) or informal (reading on your own)
I'm glad you learned something from it. David, we all believe that education is the only path to achieve success but in reality it doesn't. 😊 #Believe - Feb
I did not know he was a billionaire. Good content. I like "Develop your mind" as knowledge and education are more valuable than being stronger and faster. Information is power and those who have it from education become a valuable asset. I noticed a theme throughout each of the tips is being inquisitive and love seeking things.
2. TRUST YOURSELF “...In their caution I found my courage, in their doubt I found my resolve and in their warnings I found my voice and chartered my own journey..” Wow!
“Intelligence can create huge profits” is very real for me since most of what I hear are opportunities. People complain, opportunity, people love something, opportunity or people don’t know how to move forward, opportunity. Thanks for this post!
Thank you Mr Robert Smith, you have reinforced my beliefs, I simply must keep doing what I am already doing.....the final rule is my key, grit...must stay the course, never quit, I am right there!
The full gammitt of the message to me was summarized in the statements explaining that there was an education piece (learning), a knowledge piece, (knowing what you have learned), and the craft practitioner piece, (walking out what you THINK you know). The icing on the cake for this system is the needed guidance or mentorship that has should accompany the questee in their expression
He was (Robert Smith) was great! I did Leverage B/O of my former employer in the mid- 80s of small jewelry firm. Every aspect of this video is so true, because friend's will tell you're nuts! Creditors will believe in you only if you sell them on a convincing outcome or end game. And best of all "Those doubters, will eventually become your biggest fans" at the end of the day.
I like the way Mr. Smith said he knows his history but did not let that bind him, or like that when he was talking about desegregation, and his father being a principal at a school up the street, awesome.
All of what he is saying is the truth. Being committed in your craft. For going social activities-- "lining up your activities to what you say you want"
One of the many pertinent things he discussed was that intellectual capital happens to be innoculus and more valuable than physical capabilities. The other thing was developing grit and learning to be a problem solver versus having someone rescue you from failure constantly. His rules center around self development and self actualization while taking the initiative to create value for community stakeholders. That resonantes with my purpose, application and vision. Great video and thanks for introducing Mr. Smith to me. D. SMITH
Number 10 is my favorite it amazes me how so many people give up because something is not going their way. Number 10 is a true testament of how to become a strong you.
The beauty of Mr. Smith's presentation was that unlike MOST successful black folks, he didn't redirect to our personal failings (e.g. Obama; Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, et al) as being the most prevalent reason for our struggles. He kept it factual, skipped over the social impediments, and imbued us to embrace the belief that our God-ordained greatness will allow us to overcome those constructed barriers - provided we skip no steps and maintain our resiliency through to the end. One of the moist poignant COME UP presentations I've ever heard in my life.
Thanks for the video Evan. "In their caution, I found my courage. In their doubts, I found my resolve. And in their warnings, I found my voice and chartered my journey"

To me, everything he said was food for thought. I did not know of Mr. Smith until I came across your video. Thank u Evan for bringing him to light. Your videos r inspirational & encouraging. Hope u nvr go away.
Exactly so much insight in this 1 video right! I’ve heard of him on a very brief note but this video goes deep which is great
What a great brother, this is the name to remember instead of celebs and athletes. Robert F Smith!!! WOW
Thanks for watching! :) #BTA1239 Luka
A black man without a black woman is no example for black men. I don't care how much he is worth. Nothing is worth sacrificing your history or soul.
No.8 is my fav, figuring things out the box has always been my thing, I don't take things at surface level, deep meaning and making it work is my kinda thing.
Thank you for sharing. 😊 #Believe - Feb
Tax fraud is also out of the box thinking;)
Act on my intentions and be consistent. Resonates with me........
Awesome, thanks for letting us know. #Believe - Feb
Thanks for letting us know, much love. 😊💛 #Believe - Feb
Thanks for sharing and thanks for the love :) #BTA1239 Luka
Evan, thank you so much for doing this. My favorite is "KNOW YOUR SELF WORTH", I think it's important to believe in yourself before you rely on others, it could ultimately effect your self esteem.
Thanks for sharing. :) #BTA330 Monzur
Excellent video. I especially like the first rule: Develop your mind. So undervalued in this day in age.

Take joy in figuring things out
Yes this was such an incredible video
"...the joy of figuring things out..." This resonated with me and was a great articulation of a core driver for me!
Glad you're feeling it Brian :) #BTA1136 Luka

Evan Carmichael
You're welcome!
#Jesus is Lord!
You're welcome, it's our pleasure. 😊💛 #Believe - Feb
Awesome video. Yes learn how to solve those small problems on your own so you can handle the bigger problems later on in life.
My favorite.... know your self worth. I work with a business model the makes others wealthier. I have pivoted my business to further ensure that I share in that wealth creation.
Thank you, Evan. Being a person of color, I appreciate hearing from another person of color in BUSINESS.
Well, he moved up another Billion and now ranked 163 since 2016, he must be doing something right worth modelling.
Thanks for watching :) #BTA1246 Luka
I am thankful to hear Robert F Smith's comment on what some of his colleagues thought about him they thought he was crazy. So I feel like he's my brother not only for that reason but what I'm saying is there are number of people that think I'm crazy however it's not about being crazy it's about exercising your faith.....
Thanks for sharing :) #BTA1248 Luka
I love love Robert F Smith. Awesome
One of his great Rule: " being committed to your career". This is so much more than I have a JOB, it is a devotion to your skill, talent and craft. It means that your know your stamp of what you do and your contribution.
Trust yourself and put in the time.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for watching Fredrick. :) #BTA333 Shine
Bonus! 21:45 All from being PERSISTENT! Thanks @Evan
Thanks for watching! :) #BTA1262 Luka
I’ve never heard of this guy before, but he is really amazing. I certainly took a lot away from this top 10 list.
Glad to hear that, Mike! :) #BTA1247 Luka
#3 "Know Your Self Worth". So powerful!!! Know what you will and will not accept in any circumstance.

I love when you introduce us to new people! I’m definitely going to do more research on this man. He had some really profound insight!
Glad we could introduce you to Robert. #Believe :) #BTA1659 Veljko
2. TRUST YOURSELF
“...In their caution I found my courage, in their doubt I found my resolve and in their warnings I found my voice and chartered my own journey..”
Wow!
Thanks for watching :) #BTA1241 Luka
“Intelligence can create huge profits” is very real for me since most of what I hear are opportunities. People complain, opportunity, people love something, opportunity or people don’t know how to move forward, opportunity. Thanks for this post!
Thank you for sharing with us and thanks for watching, Angela :) #BTA1242 Luka
Thank you Mr Robert Smith, you have reinforced my beliefs, I simply must keep doing what I am already doing.....the final rule is my key, grit...must stay the course, never quit, I am right there!
Thank you for sharing with us and thanks for watching! Stay strong and never give up. :) #Believe #BTA371 Luka
Absolutely. I always think that if everyone is going to the left, i go to the right.
#4 "Faith without works is dead,"
:) #BTA1246 Luka
That’s deep
The full gammitt of the message to me was summarized in the statements explaining that there was an education piece (learning), a knowledge piece, (knowing what you have learned), and the craft practitioner piece, (walking out what you THINK you know). The icing on the cake for this system is the needed guidance or mentorship that has should accompany the questee in their expression
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Michael
Amazing. one of greatest speeches I've ever heard from a great man
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and appreciation. #BTA363 GT :)
He was (Robert Smith) was great! I did Leverage B/O of my former employer in the mid- 80s of small jewelry firm. Every aspect of this video is so true, because friend's will tell you're nuts! Creditors will believe in you only if you sell them on a convincing outcome or end game. And best of all "Those doubters, will eventually become your biggest fans" at the end of the day.
thank you Evan for all you do. you doing a great Job.
Thanks for the love and support carlos. :) #BelieveNation #BTA330 Shine
I like the way Mr. Smith said he knows his history but did not let that bind him, or like that when he was talking about desegregation, and his father being a principal at a school up the street, awesome.
Thanks for watching. #Believe :) #BTA1658 Veljko
Robert F. Smith 2020, if he ran he would have my vote.
Thanks for watching :) #BTA907 Luka
True innovators never do politics...
8. Enjoy figuring things out... Most of us try to avoid difficulty, but I like the idea of trying to find a way. I'm committing to doing that.
Awesome, appreciate you for sharing. 😊 #Believe - Feb

Rule #7 Find your drive.
Appreciate the good content you're always sharing with us Evan! Happy Holidays to you and your team!
Glad you liked it. :) Thank you very much for the appreciation and for watching. #BTA330 Monzur
D. SMITH
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching, DS! :) #BelieveNation #BTA1161 Luka
@@EvanCarmichael Yes Sir
Be willing to take risks and do things differently. Create something that is big and lasting. Have the desire to be great.
Number 10 is my favorite it amazes me how so many people give up because something is not going their way. Number 10 is a true testament of how to become a strong you.
Thanks for watching. #Believe :) #BTA1658 Veljko
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Brian. #Believe :) #BTA1651 Veljko
