Great to see a vessel serve the ocean in a new way, be a home for marine life; which is sorely needed, and generate income from scuba divers. Seems like a win win and not a waist.
This tug looks similar to the first tug I engineered, Tug Tilly, which is also on u-tube. Tilly was a WW 2 army tug V8 GM 567. When I worked on her she was named The Lewis No. 8 For Eklof Marine. The government built Hundreds of them, in the Harlem river.
Nice work. Nothing going UP but the bubbles. I didn't get what you were going to do at first- I'm thinking 'Wow. bring her in and refurbish her', then WHAM! the view of the bridge- "YAK! It's diseased!" Put her to bed. The fish won't see her the same as I did, they'll absolutely love her.
Love these old tugs and ships that are sent down; makes me think of the life and service and those who served aboard - not sure why but it makes me sad. Glad she wasn't scrapped though.
Cool! I like the underwater shots. The comments thinking you could recycle this old ship are misinformed, artificial reefs are a good use for these ships, better than sending it to some shithole breaking yard.
Before humans had boats and things in the waterways, the fish and reefs got along just fine without humans sinking anything and everything they can. Humans pollute and hurt more them they help
Hillman Wents made a comment about why a Tug like this was sunk. I read that the older tugs were useful until one of the engines fails. It then becomes so expensive to locate another vintage engine that it is just not worth the effort. I am with the commentor I would love to have a boat like this even if one engine is junk. It would be fun to have the boat as a fishing / small local tour boat. I could find something that while not balanced power would be enough to help in rough weather!
The Confident Gamer look it up it was a kids show in the late 80's but only watch the u?k dub because it was readapted badly in the us and other places by salty light house, think fucked up Thomas and Friends, like season 5, unfortunately tugs only lasted a year, but it was awesome
Titanic wasn't built to be unsinkable. She was built to be as safe as possible, but it became an overused slogan to call her "Unsinkable", which she proved she wasn't.
Same here, hard to explain why it hits me that way, the old girl had a spirit of her own--in a way. Watching her slip under the waves--grown men have been known to tear up, maybe it is all the things she stood for, the work, the people who served on board, the safety she provided--just hard to explain really.
How do you prepare a hull for something like this? I would be worried about oily residues and chemical releases from the remaining components breaking down. Would probably have all of the engines and equipment removed, and the hull itself sandblasted clean so that it was bare steel being sunk. That way there would be absolutely nothing aboard but rusty metal, which the ocean can easily reclaim.
Im tired of this, people complaining Sinking a Ship is bad. Only when nature itself sinks a ship like Titanic is it bad. This was part of an Artificial Reef in the Atlantic..
Before any boat or ship becomes intentionally sunk for an artificial reef, you better believe the owners have wrested every single penny's worth of use or profit from her. Old tugboats like this one are really only good for razor blades once the useful metals and other materials are stripped. You may mourn this an an undignified end for a work boat of this type but it isn't. In fact any ship that isn't turned into soda cans deserves a fitting burial at sea and continued life providing enjoyment.
YOU HAVE TO APPRECIATE THIS GUYS THAT WORKED ON THOSE BOATS AND THE HARD LIVES THEY LED
son..the time has come the boat has to live on life 2
Even though everything seemed to go as planned for it's scheduled demise, it's still incredibly sad to watch this tug (or any other ship) sink.
Any ship sinking is a sad thing.
This is sad. Period.
.
You never sailed nor owned a boat. We’re talking about the death of a living organ, a ship.
Its definitely sad, but its also very interesting
This video that's a very cool
Thanks for long and faithful service MT Anthony Bell , RIP .

Rest In Peace you did good work

Lets hang around below decks in a sinking ship and have a chat.

Wow I dove with Stuart Cove in the mid 90's when I first started diving, they were my first open water dive, night dive, and shark dive.
The water hit her smack in the face 😂😝

Nice, classic looking tug boat.
that must be the coolest job ever. you sink a ship while you are still aboard that is awesome.
I thought the same 😂👌
Nice!
Thank you for sharing. 😊
I like how they're hanging out inside the ship while it's sinking

Wow that was a really cool vessel
I've done that, they go down quick, nice photography thanks for sharing.
Sinking ships is amazing (except for huge liners)
Legend has it they are still down there talking
OMG! ANTHONY!!! YOURE ALIVE!!! Oh im so happy!
Nice job sinking a good ship.
That was one beautiful ship you just sank. :(
Ain’t that the truth. R.I.P.
Its sad to see an old tugboat go under like this, but its better then a trip to the breakers yard.
ahh, you SUNK IT!
Nice video.

At least they recycled the internal parts to that old EMD 567 engine.
Awesome sinking
Wow like when the ferry sank in TUGS
What's tugs?
The Confident Gamer look it up it was a kids show in the late 80's but only watch the u?k dub because it was readapted badly in the us and other places by salty light house, think fucked up Thomas and Friends, like season 5, unfortunately tugs only lasted a year, but it was awesome
Gaming blue engine productions saw it on Irish TV as a kid circa 1993. Nice show
Rip Anthony bell your service will be remembered
why did you sunked that nice ship and whos ship was that
OMG, what did I just see - tears....
pretty cool!! and I think the sank the ship for a test
love the video
Still it's very ironic, if someone throws a tiny plastic bottle in the water or on the ground you get a ticket. I just find it funny
Oh boi I love seeing a ship sink
So out of curiosity, why all the manual work for the scuttling? Why not just open the seacocks, or use small explosives to blow open her bilges?
what a fun job!
Coolest thing I've ever seen
is there a way to become part of this team? it's a fascinating job
nooo warrior died! or was that big mac, is it a harbour tug? oh it's Hercules the ocean tug
Nah sadly it is Ten cents he was good lad.
Atlantis Ocean, that's a good one, have you copyrighted it?
Did anyone survive?

Why nobody is placing cameras on the bottom of the sea to have a view when it hits the seabed?
Everything on the planet if from the planet. It will all return to the planet.
you dont make a boat to sink it. you make a boat to SAIL IT!!
It was too old. It had no use, so they sunk it for scuba divers and for fishes
Are you the person who put the iceberg in the way of the Titanic?
Why don't we hang out in a sinking ship talking about ways to make it sink faster that sounds like a good idea!XD
If you enjoy watching ships sink you ain't wrapped tight .
Was this a old one
We have a tug in the Bahamas if you would like to buy her to sink. She is called the Ocean King. Single screw tugs can no longer be insured
THOSE BOATS WERE SO OD THAT THEY LEAKED ALSO. THIS WAS AN OLD RUST BUCKET
HEY Burner dude please don't sink her. Just for the sake of it maybe use it to sink other ships for reefs if it still works
Now where was the EPA when this was happening?
Este barco como ha pasado con todos, puede ser un buén refugio para toda clase de peces.
Why didn't you save it?
what type of tug is this
WHY I LIKE THAT SHIP
😟😟😟😟😓😓😓😞😞😞😞😞😞😭😭😭😥😥😥 what a pretty boat
it always makes me sad watching old ships end of life regardless of recycling of reefs or whichever tho she served ,not los ahd

What company was this boat?
Pretty cool, Would have been nice to see the remains of that EMD removed first but O well.
That was basically Ten Cents From TUGS...that you sank.
Darn.
Ten cents is probably Saying why did you have to Sink me!!!!
I legit got TUGS vibes while watching this. Such a shame that show only got like 15 episodes ;-;
@@lividuke really? I think it's Hercules by the shape of the cab
@@merlinandmurdoch7837 You're not wrong there. It kinda does
That went down fast indeed!
Looked up gta tug boat, got this
As the fishies go into the pilot house and pretend their driving to boat. Toot toot!! Brrrr
did they raise it or leave it?
Leave It
Wait why’d they sink there own boat?
It's a "new" tug?
*Did anyone else think of Ten Cents from the show "TUGS" or just me? xD*
This is probably what happened to Ten Cents lmao 😂 -Tom
@@saturnzbarzsquad9642 no this was his sister rip
A vessel of such age aswell

They took out all oil and other resorces that can inflict damage on the sea water
Dies glaube ich nicht das sie alles gereinigt haben das das Meer-Wasser sauber bleibt
They strip that shit clean before they do anything to it
Interesting, it was powered by an EMD 567 prime mover.
Why are they sinking her!?!?
Hey, you sank the wrong boat! You should have sunk the ship my tug was towing out to form an artifical reef, damnit!
Sink It Quickly? Nah Man, The Slower It Is, The More Enjoyment You Get.
They would evacuate everyone before the final blow that would sink the ship
What if someone was stuck in there while it was sinking?
So this is where the sunken ships in rust come from
It is better than a scrap yard in India.
What an absolute WASTE! Kids in africa could have eaten that boat!
Stop that joke... This joke is dead already....
Im tired of this, people complaining Sinking a Ship is bad. Only when nature itself sinks a ship like Titanic is it bad. This was part of an Artificial Reef in the Atlantic..
The "r/wooosh" jokes are dead
You mean Detroit?
American Boy it’s not the 90s anymore Detroit ain’t that bad
I could have set sail on that :(
It makes me cry
Weak.
incredible very cool fantastic
Sink em all and then our good old friend SMIT salvages all of those vessels
And then the Salvagers ruin it all by taking piece from wargraves and other famous shipwrecks
I would love to be there
I’ve done this before in Everett, Washington 2 A old wooden tug,
Great another reef!!???
