Mourning is a painful and long process. My dad passed away 10 years ago and I found this saying that is conforting:
" When we lose someone we love,we must learn not to live without them but to live with the love they left behind"

THEY may have died, but not our love for them - this love has no longer a place to go to....😥.

I heard Valerie Bertinelli say something like “how beautiful to have loved someone so much that you grieve them.”
I lost my mom over 37 years ago and still have a hard time some days. But, I talk to hear, feel her presence and think about her everyday.
Regarding your room, I wonder if your clothes rack will fit in the elevator? Of course if it is not being used, and making sure it doesn’t shift around while moving up and down. It will give you that extra space it’s occupying now. You can fill the rack with what you will be showing on your video and then send it down. That is, if the rack isn’t already on the spot the elevator comes up on. No space is really saved then. Unless you put something there that can be easily moved when you need the elevator with the clothes rack in it. Just a thought.

Your channel just popped up in my feed and I'm glad it did. I am so sorry about your father. I lost mine in January of 2020 very unexpectedly. He was my only parent since I was 8. I'm now 59. I'm so happy you have used your platform to discuss this. It is important. I'm still struggling 4 years later. I have no other family and my so called friends have fallen by the way side. It's been difficult to say the least. Thank you so much for this and, I look forward to your future videos on fashion and, whatever else you want to discuss! God bless you ❤

Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. We do not talk about it enough. I lost my mom in 2019 and we got a break until 2021 when we lost 9 others through this year, the most recent being my husband a month ago. He was only 70 years old. Both of my parents were 92. We were just getting to the point of enjoying our later years and then cancer strikes. You are so right about being a caregiver. Hospice was helpful but I was doing everything 24/7. It was exhausting but I’d do it forever if only he were here. I wish you and your family a smooth transition to the Philadelphia area and may you blessed with many new memories in your family home while savoring your past memories. Cool elevator. Just so you’ll know, I still miss your knitting videos! They were awesome!😉😉

No matter how long we've had our parents with us, losing them is a cosmic shift in life role/stage. Adjusting to their absence in your life is terribly hard. My sympathies. I lost my 90 year old parents, one with Alzheimers, within 10 days of each other. It took a long time (and some days, just like it was yesterday) to adjust to a world without them in it. My deepest sympathies. Thanks for bringing it forward and helping others.

Nancy, I have been where you are in life and you are so right, no one prepares you. I lost my parents 6 months apart. I am an only child so finding out that my dad's caregiver, after my mother was gone , was trying to get his house and bank accounts, I did so much scrambling, you can't imagine. I had my dad in my home for 3 months because there were no available places to handle his dementia. He finally got a place, and 3 days later he passed. God bless you and your family. It will get easier.

Wow Nancy. You lost your father at the same time that I lost my mother. She was 88 and it was sudden. She had a cold, that's all she thought it was. Turns out it was RSV. She was gone within a week. She died on March 9. It's been horrible. I miss her so much. I hope you are doing much better. Newport Beach to PA?? What a transition. Not only dealing with the death of your father but the change of leaving CA too.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your Dad and hope you know that all your viewers want the best for you and we know that there are things more pressing than style! I am currently cleaning out the house of my husband's cousin after caring for her and it is work to find the "right" disposition for everything. Fashion is fun, but we can wait while you deal with the true essentials of life. I live in Philadelphia; welcome back to the neighborhood. Our daughter went to grad school at UC Irvine and we loved going to Newport Beach, Balboa Island, etc., and while you are leaving a beautiful area, preservation of your family home is an opportunity many of us would like to have had. I saw the radiator behind you - you will need heat again! The elevator is cool - we have neighbors with one in their older home. The closets were very small in our house from the 1920s - interesting that even homes of well-to-do folks did not have very large closets, making me wonder if they did not have that much clothing because they bought fewer, better quality items, a "capsule wardrobe?" Thank you for trusting your viewers with your difficult news and I pray you will have peace, which is what your parents would want for you.

Hard times. One thing we can rely on in life is change even when it's a change we didn't want. I think it's great that you've decided to keep the childhood home and making it yours. And even though going through your parents' things deciding what to keep and what to donate is an ordeal, it is also a catharsis and part of the grieving process. In my experience you never get over the loss of people you truly loved. You just come to a place of acceptance. Best wishes to you and your family in this difficult time.

I work full time from home which thankfully allows me to look after them. It is exhausting though and we lose track of our own self care. Please take care of yourself as you go through the process of grieving and moving! P.S. - I think the desk area would make a lovely vanity area to store your makeup and display any perfumes, jewelry & accessories in one place.

My heart goes out to you and your family, Nancy. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with all of us, I went through the same things with my parents in the past few years and it's exhausting mentally, physically and emotionally. How wonderful that you decided to buy your parent's home, it broke me having to sell the home I grew up in. You feel so alone in this process but you've helped so many people today validating their own experience with this, letting them know they're not alone. Please take care and thank you for all of your amazing content.

Sending you lots of love and virtual hugs. You are quite right that nothing prepares you for this time of caring for ageing parents in the final stage of life, it's very hard. I lost both my parents just over a year ago, only 3 months apart. I was on my own as my brother lives overseas and my 30 year marriage had recently ended - I found it completely overwhelming. Take care and look after yourself

You are so right that we need to talk. It does ease the burden for everyone. My mum said 'I am going to die.' People couldn't believe, some appalled, my reply was 'I know mum.' I felt it was the way to be, open and truthful. We then talked and talked.
I feel for you as I lost both my parents in fourteen weeks. Look after yourself and 'do' RUclips whenever you feel ready.

I’m so sorry for your loss Nancy. I’m glad you shared this as I’m going through a very similar situation with my Dad. He needs sooo much care and my Mom is looking after him and is so burnt out. It’s so much and everything you said resonated with me. My mom has been looking after my dad for almost 3 years and exhausting is definitely the word! Ty again ❤

So sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing your story. Although it has been 7 years since my Dad (second parent) passed, coincidentally I was going through some of his things a few hours ago and feeling sad. It’s wonderful that you have a large family for support and that you could move to your parents’ home with all of those memories. It looks like a really cool home. ❤

So sorry for your loss. I truly believe that we need to be more open about life events! How do we learn if we don't talk! I lost my parents both in 1999! Wow can't believe it's been that long. I just found out this morning that a family friend/doctor has passed away. It is all part of life. That is why we must enjoy every step of the way. Looking forward to your new content when your ready.

I feel so sad for your loss but I feel you are so grateful that you spent valuable time with your Dad. It's such a tough time clearing out parents homes, we have done both parents homes & somehow it seems disrespectful 😢
    Things settle in time
Absolutely love the lift in your new studio👏
    Take time to grieve 🫂

I’m so very sorry for your loss and agree that caring for and then losing your parents is one of the greatest challenges that some people will face. Ironically, it’s bittersweet in that some people who end up losing their loved ones suddenly would want to being able to spend the time to say everything they needed to.
I cared for both of my parents for 3 years as they each fought terminal cancers- mom had lung cancer and my dad, like yours, had pancreatic cancer. No one asks if you will be the caregiver, nor are you asked if you are even qualified. You are swept into the role, uncompensated, unequipped and terrified. But I can assure you that, while that was almost 9 years ago now, there is no where else I’d rather have been and I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to help them in their passing. As hard as it was, it was equally wonderful. The memories I have of that time are very precious.
I am so glad for you to be able to help your dad and your family through this.
The next part will be difficult also, as you navigate a new normal. Be sure to care for yourself, and to go at your own pace. May the time ahead provide you with the sweet memories of your dad, and provide you and your family strength and peace knowing he is sticking with you. ❤
