I think khezu has almost equal potential to have similar environmental interactions to Gigginox. Khezu apparently reproduce similarly to parasitic wasps, by paralyzing their target and laying eggs in them. It would be interesting (and gross) to see this in gameplay, and the unfortunate hollowed out husks of monsters that have fallen victim to hatching khezu whelps. I don’t see khezu whelps being as involved in khezu’s fight, however. I do like both khezu and gigginox, but gigginox already shows more potential and would need less updates to its gameplay than khezu to make it a fun fight in wilds. I think that if it came down to either khezu or gigginox being the last monster in the roster, I would pick gigginox. It’s simply the more engaging monster when fighting it, has more potential, and hasn’t been seen in 13 years.
I would definitely like to see Gigginox return in Wilds. It didn't even get to return in Generations Ultimate, which was basically Capcom's big celebration of the series, but they still decided to include the likes of Cephadrome and Plesioth in that game. There is a sort of caveat however... there are quite a few monsters I'd like to see a return of but they would essentially require terrain designed to suit them. Agnaktor, for example, is my favorite leviathan (above Lagiacrus even) but if he doesn't have a suitable cave ceiling to drill into then his fight loses some of its appeal. Monsters like Kecha Wacha and Nerscylla pretty much rely on webbed or vine 'canopies' which were extremely prevalent in MH4U which they appeared in but haven't really shown up since. Either they need to have the level designers design areas specifically so these monsters can have their unique interactions, or they need to redesign the hunt itself much like they had to redesign Lagiacrus to fight only on land. Gigginox would pretty much require caves suitable to fight in. To my knowledge all of the 'cold' maps we've gotten since his appearance have included caves of some kind so perhaps there's a chance. The main thing holding him back is his lack of overall popularity compared to Khezu, who seems to pop up in almost every game so he can roar 5 times in a row and then move to the next area every few minutes.
yeah the case with Gigginox is weird.Btw Kecha Wacha and Nerscylla are both planned for future videos, so stay tuned on that! I don't know why everyone and their mom loves Khezu so much when Gigginox is clearly the superior. I am hoping to god there is an ice/tundra region in Wilds. I don't think it would be in the expansion because Iceborne was already an Ice expansion for World. It would be very odd to do another ice expansion back to back for a flagship entry.
I think something that made this fight so memorable is the light mechanic in MH Tri. On the original Wii version of MH Tri all the caves were completely dark, and you would need a torch (or light the bonfires) in order to see anything. The only thing you could see in the darkness were his purple glowing glands
I'll be brutally honest, I've never tried the mechanic. I am playing on an emulator so idk if the lighting in the game makes a difference because it, but I literally never had a reason to use it.
My personal favourite monster, so of course I would love to see it make a comeback after so many years! Gonna ramble a bit here lol but TLDR, it's honestly it's kind of ridiculous to me that such a great monster with so much potential has been completely forgotten for so long. I really hope that wilds finally gives it the treatment it deserves, maybe even give it a new variant or something. Its visual and sound design are really cool and unique, along with a lot of equally unique fight mechanics. I love how it embodies the mixup of two things looking similar not only in its design with the head and tail being identical, but also in its moveset where two different actions often have a similar tell or can be performed by either side. I love watching people fight gigginox and genuinely get confused about which side they're attacking, it's funny that what is presumably an anti-predator mechanism in-world affects players too, and in gameplay shows how successful they were at creating something that requires you to be observant to know what to target and what moves to look out for. Another great aspect is how the rage mode changes its skin colour and weak spot, I really appreciate when monsters have a weak spot that isn't the just the head for once lol. I'd probably play even more into that, and make it so its head or tail is the weakest spot depending on state, rather than its stomach, and make it more aggressive on the side that's currently softened. I'd really like to see it attack with both sides simultaneously too, or maybe attack with its head or wings while it's laying down eggs or poison bombs so it's a bit riskier to attack while it does so. It'd also offer a unique spin on the herd approach of wilds with its giggi summoning, they could really do a lot with the giggis just through improvements to their AI and a new attack or two. I know a lot of people don't like the ceiling crawling so it could maybe serve as sort a more dedicated relief window to take care of the giggis if they're getting out of hand, while still requiring you to keep an eye on the gigginox to avoid getting poisoned or pinned. Alternatively they could give it more ceiling attacks that provide an opening to counter attack, so it feels like less of a one-way interaction, even though I personally wasn't very bothered by it since it never stayed on the ceilings or walls as long as khezu :) Overall I'd probably prefer to it be bumped up a bit in threat level in order to really let all of its unique features shine and to further distinguish it from other returning poison monsters which are usually of a similar tier. Also worth mentioning that its equipment designs are some of my favourites too!! I'd really love to see them all in HD.

the armor you mentioned at the end, to me at least, seems like it could be an updated version of gypceros. its leathery texture, poisonous theme, glowing points on the hammer itself (although these could possibly relate to the glowing sections of gigginox aswell), and the bird theme all relate closely to gypceros, as it is a poisonous focussed bird wyvern with the ability to use the portrusions on its head and beak as as a flash bomb of sorts. on the other hand though, the tie and buttons looking like a large tongue and bright yellow eyes that are wide open is very reminiscent of pukei pukei, its just that the coloration and rest of the design dont fit that, on top of the greatsword armor looking very similar to the pukei-pukei set. it remains to be seen, but a lot of people have been quite vocal about wanting gigginox back over khezu, so maybe it is gigginox.
hmm you are not wrong about the Gypceros similarities. The only thing that's throwing me off about it belonging to Gypceros is the brain matter inside the hammer. Gypceros doesn't really have anything like that. Unless they really overhauled his visual design and gave him some new spicy stuff, but I feel like it wouldn't feel like Gypceros after that. It's very hard to tell because the armor/weapon set just has so many conflicting designs. One part of it looks like something that lives in a cave. Another part of just looks like a bird wyvern. The neckline with the obvious face look reminds me of Pukei-Pukei with his big derpy long tongue and eyes and the coloration. Cool teaser nonetheless. Can't wait too see what it is!
@@RathalosWatch maybe its a mixed armor set? theres a good few of those, and this is just a bunch of poison-based drops used for 1 set? also, i'd absolutely hate gypceros coming back, by far my least favorite monster in the whole series. just unbearably annoying.
Yes! Gigginox and that epically eerie theme should make a comeback! The armor in 3 was actually good with constitution, status up and null poison. So I know how people get with poisonous monsters.
I am rocking the armor right now in MH3U. It's nice against roars, wish it looked a bit better, but I love the quick sharpening thanks to the armor's skills as well! Rocks on the longsword.
This monster is one of the most succesfully creepy creatures of the franchise, we need him in the caves of wilds being a stalk hunter maybe Even hunting down with poison other monsters, Even weakening You Big monster target minion. Also this monster could Even have new interactions with his giggis, maybe the giggis eating his mother poison, or Even crawling in her and if You the hunter hit them they get stuck in him
Gigginox fits the overall theme that they are going for in wilds, harsh interactable ecosystems, strange and dangerous monsters etc. he definitely needs to return and they should give khezu a break. I would love to see gigginox's ecology portrayed in game! It is said that he is one of the more intelligent wyverns despite its appearance. And just imagine the giggis and eggsacks with the updated graphics
it's so sad that he's the only flying wyvern of his kind that hasn't been seen since gen 3, when him and barioth were introduced. It's gotten so bad that many hunters falsely refer to these guys as a trio when it's in fact a quartet. He's also the forgotten second attempt at a cave dwelling horror, after the utter failure that is khezu. Say what you will about his meme status: As either "ugly/cute" in Japan, as a dick meme in the west, or the silence in place of music meme. Khezu was an objective failure at what the devs wanted him to be. Wilds seams to have monsters that will do that much better so giving gigginox a spotlight again would fit rather well. Just let baleful be forgotten for all time, he's just "gigginox but more like khezu". That may as well have been his pitch, since he uses thunder and paralysis just like khezu and that's it. This subspecies is even more worthless because it shares not only the single biome with his original monster but also one of the biomes khezu uses. He also has no giggis so it's more likely he's a variant than a subspecies. Maybe this is when it's too old to spawn more or something. Gigginox's most peculiar feature is that his head and tail have pretty much all the same attack options. Most monsters have a lot more moves for one or the other but not having them share so many of them. That's because of his unique design there his tail is kind of like another head. With the shape he has, it's easy to tell which is which though because of the legs. With the whole small monsters swarming large monsters mechanic that we saw wit hthe raptors not waiting until chatacabra was downed to jump him, unlike World's jagras and Iceborne wolgs who only do that to downed monsters, I would love to see giggis swarming a large monster. Imagine a bunch of them latching onto something like a gammoth, flopping about as they grow bigger form drinking her blood and she struggles to get them off. Then when the giggies have their fill, they each jump off and spit some poison on her as a bonus, just like they do to hunters.
Yeah I agree it is sad with what happend to Gigginox. It seems Capcom is treating him like a forgotten red-headed step child and I really have no clue why. I can see why you would think Baleful Gigginox is similar to Khezu, but I'd say his the far superior Khezu and I still think his worth having. And yeah a swarm of giggis attacking large monsters would be fun to watch. By the way have you considered joining our Discord Community? We have a lot of active folks and I think you'd have a blast discussing your thoughts with fellow hunters - here is the discord invite link friend! discord.gg/gQceDfBZcC
@@RathalosWatch I appreciate the invite. Honestly, all they had to do with baleful gigginox was give it an element or status that khezu doesn't have and put him in a locale that he's not in either. Like a sleep version in the flooded forest.
absolutely, its weapons and armor are incredibly cool, and the gigis would work perfectly with the horde systems. it also just looks really cool, and its fight is pretty fun, even if it can be annoying sometimes, what with all that poison and the ceiling climbing.
the poison isn't really even that bad tbh. There are far more annoying monsters with poison if you ask me. I think old-school Yian Garuga with his stupid tail whip poising is way more obnoxious and Gypceros with his stupid poisonous charging attacks and flashing.
@@RathalosWatch true, its still a very fun fight for a poison focused monster. and gypceros is definitely just pure annoyance. wish it wasnt a key quest in GU's village. shit was annoying as hell. they had so many cool monsters and chose that as a key quest and congalala as the first fight into high rank.
@supersonic4863 I'll be very honest, I am not a very big fan of GU. The whole hunter arts just feels weird to me. Makes some of the fights trivial with like adept art. Infinite dodging. Much prefer the old school MH titles over GU. Capcom is also really dumb for not releasing a proper 4K 120 FPS compilation/collection package of all the previous games for PS5/PC/SeriesX. Instead, they made GU for Nintendo Switch. Pure stupidity on their part. Leaving a ton of money and potential new MH fans on the table.
@@RathalosWatch completely agree that GU shouldve been on far more platforms, crazy that it hasnt even been ported. maybe they got a lot of money from nintendo? or maybe they were so obsessed with the idea of it being a portable series game. idk about hunting arts tho, i liked them as a gimmick, but if the game didnt have it and had everything else as it does right now, im not sure if itd change how much i like GU.
@@supersonic4863 Not sure what the deal is with nintendo, probably some sort of contract i don't know but let's be release MH was born on PS and belongs on PS. No question there if u ask me.
Also wanted to comment that the plague doctor armor does look poisonous, we also had a plague doctor set in MH World for the Grea Gyros who was a para monster. Not saying your wrong I think your right, just wanted to point that out.
Yeah I thought of Great Girros, but its a thunder monster which was the thing and he doesn't really have a long tone or any exposed brains. Can't wait too see what it is !
Monster Hunter Frontier is not a game really that I have time to invest in If I am being very honest with you. All of my videos ONLY feature custom-captured footage, Meaning that I do not grab footage from youtube and everything is recorded with purpose. Playing through a single game already takes a lot of time. I know there are a ton of cool monsters in MH Frontier, but right now it would not be ideal for a consistent content upload schedule. Hope this explains it, thanks!
@@RathalosWatch monsters. Any monsters, all monsters. If you’re gonna give me a monster hunter game, you need to put monsters in it and I seriously hope wilds doesn’t take them away
Yes. Unpopular opinion incoming but i think he is the best monster thst shares the seudo-wyvern fram(nargacuga stans can bite me). Unlike the others he is truely unique and one of a kind. The two head mimicry, it being a good parent despite its looks, and is so much better then kezu.
Concept wise, Gigginox is interesting, but is the only monster that I honestly hate because there isn't a single thing about the hunt that I find fun or enjoyable. Its kit is full of attacks with massive AoEs, unblockable or undodgeable follow up combos. It hits you from behind without giving you time to adjust direction, it's covered in hard bounce spots, huge wind pressure from constant jumping, pointless wall climbing, noxious poison spam. A huge amount of his kit and fight are not engaging, but just waiting for an opportunity to get in a position to hit him only to bounce. Forget Plesioth, Gigginox is a real monster. I don't want him to return unless he truly fits into a specific ecosystem and theme and niche, as well as 6th generation hunters having options to counterplay the moves that you can see coming.
I see where you are coming from. But I found plenty of opportunities to attack him and get damage in. I think some monsters are just harder for other people and vice versa.
I like both the cave wyverns but gigginox needs to be givin6a turn to be in a game, I still standby he should have been in iceborne, he would have been a perfact fit in the hoarfrost reach and he deserves to get a turn in wilds
@stormerjc9493 Yeah, that was a strange decision by Capcom. He could of been a decent future. However, I think he would be a far better fit for Wilds considering the whole push for dynamic interactions within the eco system.
@@RathalosWatch I agree, let's hope he gets his due then, I also don't see why gigginox and Khezu can't just take turns between games or even be in the same game every so often
I swear to god if Khezu returns *again* and Gigginox is nowhere to be found I’m going to flip my shit. Not like that’ll stop me from getting Wilds, I just think Gigginox is Khezu but much better in almost every way. It even makes less annoying noises.
Giginox is straight up just better than Khezu in every way outside of the meme potential. Yeah Khezu is phalic shaped and the absense of a theme song is funny, but that doesn't really make up for the disregard Giginox has gotten over the years
@@RathalosWatch hated it at 1st, then saw the armor set and found it's like the only monster that makes it's own hord during the fight as well as validated the use of bounce bombs. Now it's my favorite monster like galvantula and joltik from Pokemon
@@RathalosWatch because his bowgun had a funny model, i like how little gigi wrigle, and i Remember the fight being good, and it has interesting fighting mecchanics like the suck grab and egg stuff
@@RathalosWatch he just a really cool monster imo. When I first fought him in p3rd, I heavily disliked him. But the more I fought it, the more I begun to like it. Plus, we need more creepy monsters than khezu around.
@@aaronkinganimations9495 it's funny you say that. I couldn't stand him the first time I had to fight him. It took multiple times to understand his fight but then I started to appreciate his design more and more. Baleful Gigginox I feel like was also a great sub-species.
@@RathalosWatch oh I think it's worth noting as well that just like khezu, gigginox' weakness is swapped between fire and water between the two respective species and baleful turns red when enraged similar to red khezu I always thought that was a cool similarity
@@RathalosWatch Because yes. On a more serious note, while Gigginox is similar to Khezu in their grotesque design, it’s also different using Poison instead of Electricity. It also is very interesting with how, when it gets enraged, one of the “heads” becomes harder and you will bounce off of it. It makes you need to fight the other side, which means it can cause you to be cautious of what that other side can do. We rarely see the side of monsters in the world where they’re more horrifying or disgusting than cool. More of them would be a great balance to what we may get returning.
i rlly dont like khezu man, ive only fought him in rise n sunbreak and like he just sucks, the fight is awkward imo with no music, he looks like my weiner, and hes just not even that interesting
honestly i don't like that monster and don't get the obsession over it from the fanbase. it has an interesting concept with the babies, but it's not even a huge factor during the fight.
Gigignox should have been back for several entrys tbh But for some reason Japan loves Khezu way more like ..a lot more .... i never got it giginox looks better ,,the fight is more enjoyable compared to khezu the armou and weapons also look better imo tbh like Khezu hh looks like a khezu runned over by a truck while giginox is a fucking cofin ...
Because somehow in Japan they find khezu cute and gigginox doesn't, because they have the concept of "it's so ugly that is cute" very different to the west and somehow this atrocity creates an integer overflow in their brains.
@@RathalosWatch sadly yes, if it wasn't for Capcom and the devs trying to expand to other audiences and how stubborn japanese are, we would have never seen gigginox again just because they and khezu fall into the same archetype (scary cave dwelling freak of nature) but they prefer stubby chunky khezu over slender 4ssface gigginox that is seen there as a downgrade, where in the west the opposite is true, both look repulsive but giggi falls more into the rule of cool than khezu and that has more weight here. Japanese devs take cultural trends very seriously and fall strong with stereotypes, if you want an example just look into games like Kirby and MegaMan, in the first they gave the box art an angry face to Kirby because "action sells more than cute in the west" and massacred MegaMan box art because "the japanese version looks very cartoony and cute, the western market will want something that conveys the feeling of an epic action movie"
if im honest Khezu dosnt fall into Cute nor ugly trope for me it falls under when its standign still and its mouth is closed it looks like a specific male mating organ .... thats all and everytime i see khezu my brai nwent < oh no we fighting the Di....again

they would go for the head /neck for a quick kill

attack the tail mistaking it for the head

the armor you mentioned at the end, to me at least, seems like it could be an updated version of gypceros. its leathery texture, poisonous theme, glowing points on the hammer itself (although these could possibly relate to the glowing sections of gigginox aswell), and the bird theme all relate closely to gypceros, as it is a poisonous focussed bird wyvern with the ability to use the portrusions on its head and beak as as a flash bomb of sorts. on the other hand though, the tie and buttons looking like a large tongue and bright yellow eyes that are wide open is very reminiscent of pukei pukei, its just that the coloration and rest of the design dont fit that, on top of the greatsword armor looking very similar to the pukei-pukei set.
it remains to be seen, but a lot of people have been quite vocal about wanting gigginox back over khezu, so maybe it is gigginox.
hmm you are not wrong about the Gypceros similarities.
@@RathalosWatch Gigginox set with a Long Sword? Guess I could try it. Trying to learn the weapon for some reason.
This monster is one of the most succesfully creepy creatures of the franchise, we need him in the caves of wilds being a stalk hunter maybe Even hunting down with poison other monsters, Even weakening You Big monster target minion.
Also this monster could Even have new interactions with his giggis, maybe the giggis eating his mother poison, or Even crawling in her and if You the hunter hit them they get stuck in him
@@changeling6450 yeah tons of opportunities.
@@ravagerlizard9800 nightmare fuel in 4k
it's so sad that he's the only flying wyvern of his kind that hasn't been seen since gen 3, when him and barioth were introduced.
Yes, I haven't watch the video yet but yeah, Gigginox should be added in place of Kezu.
Im not sure how you choose the monsters you want to talk about on returning but I hope you discuss about Shanthien. Literally my favorite monster.
I just hope we get monsters back in monster hunter ngl. That’s my favorite part of monster hunter and I hope we don’t lose that in wilds
@@epsilon1372 did u mean to say old school monsters? I am sorry your phrasing is confusing me lol.

I was thinking about it today and the hammer armour was giving me strong giganox vibes but i think im just coping
it def has Gigginox vibes, but let's be real. We are both coping. Here is a virtual cope hug /hug
To me the armour and hammer they showcased look similar to what Gypceros equipment could look like
@dragus2904 Right, but the brain matter inside the hammer doesn't look like it belongs too Gypceros though unless he got some crazy redesign.
Yes! It should. We've had enough of Khezu. Give us Gigginox
Agreed!
I need that Black Coffin hunting horn!
don't we all friend!
I would like to see agnaktor returning, lavasioth was fine, but big fire gecko was more fun and had cooler weapons and armor.
Love the med bowgun with giginox normal and alatreon only thing was carrying all that ammo
yup gigi needs to return
@@Fataliscancook18 yes, idk why Capcom treats him like a red-headed stepchild lol
Yes. Unpopular opinion incoming but i think he is the best monster thst shares the seudo-wyvern fram(nargacuga stans can bite me). Unlike the others he is truely unique and one of a kind. The two head mimicry, it being a good parent despite its looks, and is so much better then kezu.
@camowyvern3836 Hey man, that's the beautiful thing about Monster Hunter. It has so many monsters that there is always a monster that someone likes 👍
YES gigi> > > > > khezu
Also Quropeco > > > > kut ku.
Actually 3rd gen had pretty much all the best monsters.
yeah, lots of solid entries that were left in the dust and go figure why lol
I want creepy monster to be in wilds, there is always good design on armor and weapon with those nightmare fueled creature.
Absolutely!
HELL YEAH
Why?
I would like it if gigginox returns
Would certainly prefer Gigginox over Khezu, despite never having fought it
I just believe that most people naturally hate Khezu the second they see it.
@stormerjc9493 I feel like they both need to be in same game to complete the ultimate package and all the crazy interactions.
Absolutely. It's just better Khezu.
It's better than Khezu in every way!
I swear to god if Khezu returns *again* and Gigginox is nowhere to be found I’m going to flip my shit.
Not like that’ll stop me from getting Wilds, I just think Gigginox is Khezu but much better in almost every way. It even makes less annoying noises.
Gigginox is far superior than Khezu in every way and I don't get why Capcom treats him like a red-headed stepchild.
Yes, because it does “Leech Dragon” infinitely better than Khezu
@@johne2697 absolutely better than khezu!
Giginox is straight up just better than Khezu in every way outside of the meme potential. Yeah Khezu is phalic shaped and the absense of a theme song is funny, but that doesn't really make up for the disregard Giginox has gotten over the years

More of them would be a great balance to what we may get returning.

lol that's a hilarious write up there at the end. I completely agree !
Because somehow in Japan they find khezu cute and gigginox doesn't, because they have the concept of "it's so ugly that is cute" very different to the west and somehow this atrocity creates an integer overflow in their brains.
@@carlostejeda4341 so is that like a Japan cultural thing then?
