On one hand people use it responsibly to record their efforts and keep track of their progress or to give tips to fellow gym enthusiasts, on the other hand it enables people like this to provoke others. Sucks that it takes a handful of people to ruin a good thing.
News flash: If you decide to wear something revealing - you will get looks. If you decide to dress up - you will get looks. If you decide to wear a really cool outfit - you will get looks. If you decide to wear something that stands out - you will get looks. If you can't handle those looks then you are simply not confident enough to wear that outfit in public, and that's a YOU-problem.

I've had this before when being accused of staring at girls at the gym; i say to them that even if i was looking you have as much right to wear what you want as i do to point my eyeballs where i want. I love the body guard comparison as there have been many movies where the premise is that the person being guarded runs away and then gets into a dangerous situation because they didn't understand the dangers. It's a tough line for people to balance freedom and security and it seems hard to trust others in that balance because we have been traumatize by those that are self-serving.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I think the complaining about unwanted attention is part of a sad psychological process to confirm that these women are getting attention that they claim is so creepy.
Being able to voice their disgust is a way of acknowledging that they think they are attractive enough to be gawked at.

I live near a school campus. It is a school property with three campuses, actually, an elementary, middle and high school. When they have the back to school night in the fall the streets around the campus are parked full. It's alarming how their parents let their kids dress, this isn't the kids being sneaky on a Friday night but right there with their parents. 7th and 8th grade girls wearing short shorts, and I mean SHORT.
One girl wrote into a school board challenging the school dress code saying that there were NO clothes for girls that met the dress code. No clothes at the place she shops, maybe, games with statistics. And the school board fell for that bee ess and removed the dress code. These kids are going to be in for a real shock when they enter the work world. People can't dress in revealing outfits at most offices.
As a man I think it's fantastic for young ladies to dress this way. Women are objects of beauty, created and designed by God to be beautiful works of art, for the pleasure of men's eyes. To suppress and condemn female beauty is ungodly. To celebrate it is to worship God, the Designer, who deserves praise for all He has made. Note that I'm not endorsing obscenity or vulgarity, I'm endorsing young girls embracing their beauty. Little girls naturally want a husband, and they're not going to get one if they suppress their beauty.

I’ve somewhat recently come to the internal realization that I DO do it for attention…I feel good when I look good, but I’ve realized that I feel good when other people think I look good. I’m trying to be more cognizant of what I’m choosing to wear to the gym and why as well as whether or not I actually feel good about how I look or if I just want external validation…it’s weird to be in the “transition”
I'm a little torn on this. Because it's fully possible that these women are complaining about the WRONG type of attention. There's good and bad attention. Like if a man leers in a creepy way, that's gross. If someone glances and checks you out without being in a trance....that's 'good' attention. I think there isn't anything wrong with wanting attention when you're just trying to show off your hard work or your nice looking butt. People will look. But you'd be very dishonest if you claimed that there isn't a PATTERN with men looking very overtly and sexually.

As a woman, I can’t be the only one who feels like the simple concept of going to the gym has become so complicated because of these other women, right? You’re absolutely right, this Gym Girl culture is getting too much.

A few weeks ago I was at my gym am a woman bent over directly in front of me. Her actions seemed to have no purpose because there was nothing to pick up and it wasn't even a decent stretch. Her bottoms were actually see through. I kept ignoring her but when I finally looked up she scowled at me and opened her mouth to say something I interrupted and said 'get away from me tramp'. Two days later she entered with a male and I saw him looking at me like he wanted to say something. I believe he realized I'm extremely fit and decided to keep his mouth shut. Only a few women at my gym dress normally. The majority dress inappropriately.

If you dress in a provocative manner and then complain about people looking at you then that is a you problem and not the man’s fault. I admit I wear leggings but I also wear a long loose fitting top and I feel extremely comfortable. I am not there to put myself on display but to help my health by working out. Women need to be honest about this issue and stop blaming men when women are the ones dressing in a manner to attract attention.

The last time I went to a public gym. I had a girl with an empty backpack with barely any clothes on keep following me. I was so irritated I left and never went back. Been doing workout at home ever since. I love my wife and have no time for the childish actions of people not even working out.

You will survive, don’t look back just train the hardest and sweat you can. Anything else and you are not full strength, it’s the way it is they take it away. Core dumbbells, bench, high bar in garage corner, like that. May take more money to get out easier. Train as hard as you ever can like your life depends on it, sweat like you will stay clean and dry, never stop in you gym trip to talk shet or at all, get the F out and focus on making money not spending means developing wealth. No complaining, blast everything and forget them all even losers to take your strength suck it dry. And just do it. Focus. F the world. Think about it, then just blast -,never will be easy, unless you wan to wait for easy then. Peace

As a woman who goes to the gym, I wear tight leggings (due to a circulation disease), but I wear loose shorts over it and a decent shirt because I'm a decent woman. I've had a girl ask me why I didn't just take off the shorts, I told them it's because I'm not here to show off, I'm here work out. That's what the gym is for, to work out, and covering up when working out is so comfortable, plus sweating more at the gym is relatively good (stay hydrated), cover up and sweat it out!
