This song was written by John Deacon. He said it was about women wanting to break out of their stereotypical roles but still wanting to hold on to some of their more traditional roles at the same time. The official video for this song is so funny and was suggested by Roger's girlfriend at the time. It is a spoof on a British soap opera called Coronation Street. You should check it out, they guys are all dressed up as the ladies from that soap opera.
Another John Deacon masterpiece. There's a back story to Freddie's outfit - you should watch the original official video to get context. This video basically caused the downfall of Queen in America. Sad but true.
An unfortunate call by MTV. Americans had a history of their own drag comedy, “Some Like It Hot”, comedians Flip Wilson & Milton Berle, “Tootsie, “Bosom Buddies”, etc. But Queen’s parody of the characters from “Coronation St.” wasn’t familiar or understood.by MTV so was banned from American tele. Check their current schedule, hypocrites.

If you're a John Deacon fan, this Japan 85 concert is a must see! He is at his most active, dancing and pulling funny faces. His roadie said he was drinking heavily at this point and had a minibar set up behind his amps. Screwdrivers on tap.

It was difficult to watch for us die hard fans. Montsy, as she was called, loved Freddie very much and the feeling was mutual.

The official music video was censored by MTV when it was released! At that moment, Freddie swore that Queen would not tour the U.S. ever again! And Queen didn’t! The last live performance by Queen was on Saturday Night Live 1982 performing Under Pressure & Crazy Little Thing Called Love! Freddie’s voice was unhealthy at that time and there’s speculations on why that was the case. Anyway, Queen’s BODY LANGUAGE was the first music video banned by MTV (Guinness Book of World Records).

You should check out the original video on this one with all the members dressed in drag. I was a spoof from a British TV show, but MTV banned it in America and really broke down their relationship with the American audience which is why they aren’t as big in America as they are in the rest of the world

John’s songs are so down to earth and relatable ! “You’re My Best Friend” is my favorite. I always prefer Queen but Marc Martel does a beautiful piano/voice cover of “I Want to Break Free”. He’s not Freddie but this is one of my favorite Queen songs from him. He contributed vocals to the Bohemian Rhapsody movie. The movie was a NO for me but the music is awesome! (Because it’s Queen, lol.)
