  • This is a full Act 1 play through and from what I can tell the fastest on RUclips. Through the magic of editing I take you on a journey through hoplomachus in a fast and efficient manner. I wanted to get this playthrough of Hoplomachus Victorum out there because I had a hard time finding a full act under 2 hours. #boardgaming #tabletopgaming #hoplomachus #chiptheorygames #boardgames

    Great video as always. Realized I never watched your Hoplo playthrough, issue now solved! Hope to see more of this.
    That death stare you got from your daughter at the end when you said she's terrible at board games was priceless 🤣.

      Congrats on making it to the end!!! You are the first to reference that sequence. Wonder if you were the only to get there 🤔

      haha, I try and watch as many videos all the way to the end just to help the algo as much as possible. Its fun to see what easter eggs creators throw in the last 10 seconds. @@Neon_Gorilla

      Appreciate that Gr1m, yeah the play throughs take a ton of time but I do think it adds a lot to the experience so I will keep grinding the out.

    The editing in your videos is something else.Always engaging.
    I have my own game of Hoplo going at the moment, which is Seastrider having just passed act 1. He's super strong in act 1 with the improvements that he can apply to neutral units via prowess cards.
    There were definitely a number of rules mistakes, but won't worry about the exhaustive minutiae. Though one easily missed rule is that elite units (thick chip units) can not get tactic chips applied to them - in this case I saw while watching the video, Krakenlance should not have received adrenaline. Another important rule mistake that can swing the balance of the game a fair bit is defeating the tribune which removes all but 1 HP from your hero. In the first sport event, you should have taken Krakenlance down to 1HP total when the tribune was defeated. That then has obvious ramifications for future arena fights - do you spectate to recover health, or do you (eventually) use a prowess card to regain health in the case of Krakenlance's ability to gain 1HP when defeating a unit. Or do you let the hero burn a blessing.

    Thank you for the Hoplo play through! Really enjoyed it. 👍🏻
    Several comments/thoughts:
    - in the beginning you missed quite a lot on Taunt as you could deploy your units near Defender and protect them in this way;
    - for the battle with Seastrider Hamstring tactic could be quite useful as will stop him from attacking after the moves (you could have taken it instead of Adrenalin).
    Looking forward to Act 2!👍🏻

    Thank you for your play through! It’s a fantastic solo game! I hope you play more on the channel. I have played through three campaigns so far. One suggestion is to use up all your weeks to build your hero as much as you can. Don’t worry about health loss to Primus, you heal up to full at the end of each act and get another skill. When it comes to leadership, your hero counts in that total. So leadership 6 means Krakenlance and 5 other camp units. I may be mistaken, but when you kill a Tribune, your hero’s health is reduce to 1. You do not lose 1 health. It took me a while to get through all the rules, but it is pretty intuitive. Thank you again and I love the production value!

      Thanks Bryan. That makes total sense. I thought the loss of 1 health when you kill a tribune wasn’t that bad. Really appreciate the pointers!

      @@Neon_Gorilla one more thing that will help you- in a sporting event, only in a spar is the local the tribune. In king of the hill or capture the flag you can choose any unit to be tribune. Good luck with act 2.

    So now that I’ve seen TMB and Hoplo….you’re going to put out some Cloudspire content as well right? 😊 TMB is my go to game to feel like I’m playing an RPG. Hoplo is my go to for solo skill based gaming. But Cloudspire is when my and my wife want to go directly at one another and see who can outwit the other. Buts it’s solo is sooo good. Great video! Can’t wait til your channel blows up and you get your first 100k subscribers man! Awesome channel

      Really appreciate the kind words. These vids take a ton of time and your comments are the fuel I need to keep going. I actually don’t have cloudspire. Do you think it would work well in my format? It is certainly on my list for sure. I don’t have much luck getting chip theory to the table with my wife how did you pull that one? ;)

    • @skoobyk
      @skoobyk Год назад

      I got her started with Small World and Villainous. Once she saw board games are more than just Monopoly and Life she jumped right in with the heavy stuff.
      Cloudspire would work well with your format because it is like TMB but in a tower defense way. Rather than mostly not moving around board and just whacking away at baddies you are forced to move and take out what’s in your path along the way. My wife loves it because it’s straightforward. Buy an upgrade and then pick troops to move towards my base.

    In your bloodshed event "Native Child" you deploy too many units. Your line up is Hero and two camp units, you lose two units but still deploy more. The lineup limit is how many units you have for the combat, not how many are in combat at any given time.

  • @andypelton2642
    @andypelton2642 Год назад +1

    The overlay for the bloodshed at 43:46 shows the wrong card, it is for a sport event and not the bloodshed.

  • @andypelton2642

    AFIAK Krakenlance's Grand Entrance does include himself, so if you have one unit on the board then deploy Krakenlance you'll roll two yellow dice.

    Is it true that Hoplomachus Victorum (the scions) is very very hard to win?

    • @Neon_Gorilla
      @Neon_Gorilla  Год назад +1

      Definitely can be. In true Chip Theory fashion luck plays a part.
