Some really nice shots included. You could have left out the snow, but the storm clouds at 8 minutes was beautiful and seeing the old Ohio Central livery again was a treat. I also liked the last shot of the RJC.
Hi Scott Thanks for another nice video from your hand (camera). I really like those shortline videos. Also, nice to see that many of them are still in operation. Here in Denmark many shortlines have been closed during the years. We have a nearby one, which is now used for cycle trolleys, which are great fun to ride, but that is a different story I wish you a Happy New Year and looking forward to see your videos in 2017 Cheers Adam
I live at the end of the old Erie...... West Salem, Ohio, and watch them switch the PVC siding plant every week... man, I used to play there when I was growing up, and watching double track mains, with 6 engines, fighting 80 cars.... That was a LONG time ago....
garbagemanify I live about 10 miles from Creston - I frequently walk on the old Erie line that's been converted into a rail trail between Creston and Rittman. There's been talk of extending it all the way to West Salem. I don't think it will happen - they would have to cross Route 83 in Burbank, and that's a very busy highway.
Cool. Maybe I will find it on google. :) I'm about to start my first HO model train layout and saw this bridge. I might be able to replicate it. Thanks for your response. Have a great weekend!
I'd LOVE to work on a short line railroad! So what if the pay may not be as great as what you would have on a major Class 1 RR like CSX,NS,or UP,..I would LOVE working the short line roads regardless!
Scott, your fortunate to live in an area of the country with so many shortlines. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you. There was I time when I didn't live close to any :(
As my username indicates, I've always been a fan of shortlines and branch line operations. Thank you for sharing this terrific video with us!
Thank you! I sure like seeking the lesser filmed lines!
Me too.
Nice array of the different Ohio Short Line Railroads, Scott, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you, have a Merry Christmas!
Been highly interested in Shortline Railroading since the death of our Beloved FEVR in 2014. Been on the Nebraska Central four times and saw nothing
Nice variety Scott, thanks.
Thank you
A farm tractor stopping for a train....sweet!
Thank you! Happened only a few time with all the videos I’ve shot. They usually try to beat the train.

Thank you! Fortunately snow isn't cold through the screen!!

You are "the king of the shortlines"...
Thank you!

Thank you! Many lines have disappeared here but these shortlines keep many others open. Happy New Year
Nice video that train a 10:43 was bouncing .
A bit of rough track in Springfield!
Again: Love this channel! ;)
Thank you!!
Nothing sounds better than an EMD two stroke diesel working away!
For sure
Cool video Scott!!!!
Thanks Jeff!
Your welcome!
NICE VIDEO SCOTT!!!
Thank you!!

That's probably the only reason they won't do it... Liability of accident, and/or cost to go over/under RT 83...
The first Freight engine, his left headlight is out n he doesn't have the number lights on either.
Good video
Scott, I really appreciate your videos. Enjoyed watching. Do you remember where and name of the bridge at 12:56?
Thank you! Not sure it's name but that is on the Indiana Eastern Railroad (former C&O) in Okeana Ohio

Man, I need to get off my butt and do some railfanning on my local shortlines one day soon.
They sure add variety!
Do you know what the abandoned building was at 10:00?
Not sure, sorry.
You are so right, Stevie, that building has a classic worn, condemned look, and a train rounding the curve makes it odd railroad gold.
Supposedly the owner is hoping to use it as a grow house when/if Ohio legalizes marijuana
I think we should all pitch in and buy it. Forget Maui, when I want to kick back I'm headed to Springfield, Ohio.
whats keeping the engine from tipping over?
clean living and good taste
@@25mfd regular exercise.
Nice vid! Where's that location at 9:41? I love the diamond
That is lagonda diamond in NE Springfield Ohio where the DT&I and NYC crossed
Is that a semaphore I see protecting the diamond?
I wish he would type the actual railroad names though instead of just the acronym letters. IDK what these are cuz I don't live there.
Was the ohcr taken in pataskala Ohio??
Yes
Scott Taipale ok thanks!!

Money only means so much. Most short line workers get to sleep in their own beds nightly!
That's true about the money. Being able to be home most nights and sleep in your OWN bed makes short lines far more attractive to work for!
