Yep but also there's the guy who was in the previous two music videos as the father and school teacher (he played neidermier in Animal House) as a zombie, but also Bobcat Goldthwait and Tom Savini (the guy sitting next to Bobcat who turns into Alice Cooper) as another school teacher listening to some music before he listens to Twisted Sister and obviously Tom Savini did all the makeup for the Zombies.
Dee Snider wrote in his book that they had to hire all the extras for this video because *nobody* showed up for this video's open casting call. They had had mobs of extras for their previous videos (I Wanna Rock etc.), but around the time this was filmed Twisted's popularity had taken a permanent nosedive. Another thing he wrote, they asked the extras to go home and sleep overnight with their zombie makeup on, and return again next day for more shooting. How cool is that.
Well, that "Nosedive" that you spoke about, wouldn't have happened, if Dee Snider wouldn't have insisted on putting "Leader of the pack" on that Album. Dee was insistent on having that stupid song on there, though, and nobody in the Band had the guts to stand up to him, and say "NO", so... It is what it is.....
With no MTV airplay that previously pushed their hits from the Stay Hungry album to platinum status, this album still went gold, selling a half million copies. Atlantic possibly failed to push the obvious radio single and "Be Chrool To Your Scuel" which was also banned by the morons at MTV. The Shangri-Las were popular "melodrama girls" in an era where many songs were "splatter platters" or "death discs" that teens adored. So reversing gender roles and removing the dated death plot, Dee Snider was clever to resurrect this perfect '60s #1 hit in camp TS style to appeal to parents and '80s kids. As he told the PMRC Congressional hearings, "our videos are simply meant to be cartoons with human actors". MTV clearly didn't get it.
The VHS of "Come Out And Play" also features more footage of "Bobcat" Goldthwait. He enters a junk yard and explains that his students never listen to him, and he needs Twisted Sister's help to get the students to listen to him. Bobcat wants his students to learn something about the world. The video has several scenes with the band in the junkyard as heroes for hire type story, which leads to the various music videos. During these scenes other songs of their, that aren't made into videos are played. There is also an extra scene of Bobcat before the "Leader of the Pack" music video.
I wrote a cheesy song called "Blow up Your High School" in 1986. Played a tape of it in my Creative Writing class. The teacher laughed his head off. Had a lot of inside jokes about the principal & a few other teachers. Prob would get me expelled or arrested today.
