Hey man you're an awesome teacher, i've learned up to the "dalalai" thing in just 5 hours, it is awesome man. Though i've noticed you aren't putting any more the notes like you did in the "intro tutorial", man putting the notes helped me a lot in the intro, it took me around only 1 hour to learn it. It would be helpful for many (i suppose) if you put the notes of the right hand (at least) in your videos. Thanks man, and keep up the good work, you are great.

Your tutorial is very helpful. I've never had a piano lesson in my life and I can play up to the end of this one so far. It's a little confusing for me with the chords and stuff because I don't really have a clue where all those are but I manage. =D Heck, I'm even learning some of that stuff by watching! Plus, I'm a little confused how some of the transitions work out, but thanks for your help with it!!

Wow! You are such a great paino Guru! Piano Man is one of my favorite songs but I never got to play it as nice as it sounds on air. Thanks to you, I think I'l play it better this time. Well, probably not as flawless as you do; I'l settle for just better. It is really so much easier to learn something if I can see and hear it. I really enjoyed your video tutorial. Thanks very much for sharing your awesome talent Mr Piano (Man) John 113. The divine force is with you. :)

What a terrific tutorial! It's hard to find tutorials that are actually for playing and singing instead of just playing the melody, or tutorials that actually go into details like fills and riffs. This does both! Awesome. If I could make one request it would be helpful if you added (in description or annotations) what the chords are, including the bass note. I.e. somewhere just listing "C, G/B, F/A, etc" so someone can keep it straight at a glance.

You could have a 6,5 (written the same way as 6,4 for the three note chords [or triads]) which means the third is in the bass (for a C chord that is E) and the chord contains a seventh (for the C chord that is a B). You could have a 4,3 (written the same as described above) denoting the fifth in the bass (for a C chord that is the G) and the chord contains a seventh (for the C chord that is a B).

For chords containing three different notes (repeated as many times as you want. So you could have C, E, and G but play two C's at once) the possibilities are: no numbers, meaning the root is in the bass (for a C chord that is the C). You could have a 6 meaning the third (for a C chord the E) is in the bass.

bass voice. This would properly be notated as an A minor6,5 chord and the notes would properly be written out like the following: A, C, E, G. For clarification, the notation is defined as the following: the letter of the root of the chord is the letter you write, and the numbers following the letter or any diminished, minor, major, or augmented notation tell which note of the chord is in the bass voice.

  • @jacksonpfeffer8159
    @jacksonpfeffer8159 11 лет назад

Or you could have a 6,4 (when actually writing the 6 is superscript directly above the 4 as subscript, like a fraction without the fraction bar) denoting that the fifth (for a C chord, the G) is in the bass. For chords with four different notes but repeated however many times (C, E, G, B) there are different numbers, they are: 7 denoting the root of the chord is in the bass and it is a chord that contains a seventh (for the C chord that would mean C is in the bass and the chord has a B).

Ignore this, more complex notes for myself😂
    Part one
*beat will be added later, similar to my favorite part in the first tutorial*
    Right hand 1: 0:21 (E C G E)
    R+L 1: 0:25
    R+L 2: 0:32
    R+L 3: 0:42
    R+L 4: 0:46
    R+L 5: 0:51
    R+L 6: 0:56
    R+L 7: 1:01
    Right hand 2: 1:05
    R+L 8: 1:06
What we have so far: 1:11
    Part two
    R+L 1: 1:24
    R+L 2: 1:30
    R+L 3: 1:32
    R+L 4: 1:35
    R+L 5: 1:42
    *tonic and gin section*
Repeat part 2 on right hand: 1:52
During right hand repeat, left plays G: 1:57, then C: 2:03
What we have so far: 2:04
    Left hand beat added: 2:17
Harmonica interlude into "son, can you play me a memory?..." 3:15
    R+L 1: 3:42
    R+L 2: 3:47
    R+L 3: 3:50
What we have so far: 3:57
Same as "son, can you play me a memory?..." but an octave higher: 4:30
    "Oh, la, la-la, da-di-dah..." 4:56
    R+L 1: 5:09
    R+L 2: 5:11
    Play a B to get to A: 5:12
    R+L 3: 5:14
    R+L 4: (with beat): 5:17
    R+L 5: 5:36
    R+L 6: 5:51
What we have so far: 5:57
    R+L 7: 6:06
    R+L 8: 6:25
    R+L 9: 6:46
    R+L 10: 6:50
    *this makes more sense*
*what we have so far* 6:56
    R+L 11 (C then repeat): 7:13
    R+L 12: 7:17
    R+L 12: 7:22
    R+L 13: 7:28
    R+L 14: 7:32
    R+L 25: 7:38
*what we have so far* 7:40
"Then it starts all over again," he says.

Firstly, I absolutely love your videos and they help me a lot! But I did want to point out that you sometimes name chords incorrectly. In this video specifically at 5:35 you name a chord in the right hand as being a "C6 chord". This would mean a four note chord that contains the notes C,E, and G without any others. Also, this specifies that the E is in the bass voice. Unfortunately, this is not the chord you actually played. You Played a chord containing the notes C, E, G, and A with C in the...

Hmm.. I really find these tutorials helpful, but this particular video in your series has me stuck. I've learned the intro to Piano Man, the intro to Let It Be, as well as some technique so far. However, this one is a bit more confusing for me... When it gets to 2:42, you start using your right thumb for the beat, but it's just too fast for me to figure out how all your fingers are synchronizing in relation to each other. (And it sounds like crap when I play it, even though it "looks" the same.)

Hey, do you have any tips for sight reading? I'm a budding piano player and my teacher won't let me move on in my teachings until I learn sight reading really well.
