The problem with assuming the transmission is full is putting trust in the manufacturer. All these manufacturers are producing new cars that are horribly made and have constant problems and recalls. The first manufacturer who goes back to building simple reliable engines and transmissions that anyone can fix will own the market.
I've talked to a couple of transmission technicians and they tell me that the filter that's that style the pancake style filter is nothing more than basically a straw. It doesn't do a whole lot of filtration so as long as you keep the fluid changed it will usually stay working. However, if you let it get to where it's black, then yes the accumulation of debris and the filter can overrun it. But it's not a cartridge filter and even a cartridge filter has a bypass. Also running a really powerful magnet drain plug since there is nowhere else to attach a magnet.
Catching is always key. Alldata or other databases usually give you different trans capacities based on overhaul, drain and fill, etc.. Always recommend double check with those too just to check no one else has been there or if maybe a half qt disappeared back to the car gods over the past 100k+ miles.
Mopar buys it from the German supplier ZF, along with the 8HP RWD 8-spd trans they use (Ram 1500, Hellcat, etc). The FWD 9-spd had some clutch snap ring teething issues in 14' but has been durable since ZF figured it out.
This is the way it going to be. I remember the mechanics before me complaining about how a GM Quad 4 engine had the module, coils and plug wires all in one cassette. It wasn't any big deal. Now cars don't have a distributor or plug wires and the coil sits on the spark plug.
Buying a new car is the money pit. Don't you see the trap? And for most people it's $1,000 a month trap. An EVs are just going to make it worse. You have to trade it in because the battery can cost more than the car and it only lasts 60,000 miles or 10 years😅
ur shop is generous ya'll use the mopar genuine transmission fluid even i use cheaper alternative for my own car. yet u got ppl complain in comments that yall jippin ppl... the worst thing to do to your pockets and car is to take to a cheap but bad mechanic / shop
i mean u can count a transmission service if u dont replace the filter for the type of transmission u working with. its unreasonable to remove entire transmission to change the filter. and u seem to be doing it real well with measuring the fluid, taking temp into consideration and finally a dipstick not to mention that expensive ass mopar fluid u replace with, i would be a happy customer but unfortunately most customers dont know the diff between quality and bad mechanic
sucks that u cant change the filter on these vehicles, jeep just wants u to junk ur old transmission and destroy it after the warranty ends to buy a new one good for them bad us little guys. us jeep drivers have a love and hate relationship with our vehicles
JT you listened. Always take out the fill plug first to make sure you can get it off before draining. You are a master transfil tech.

That fluid was black!
@@DougsHomestead I agree, 💯.
WOT shifts, burnouts, constant up and down shifts all involve clutch wear.

JT you the man! Love the content. You have given me alot of mopar knowledge 🫡
This is the craziest design. Mopar never cease to amaze me

We had one in the shop on Friday. Not ONE tech would touch it... Left with a nice note "Transmission Shop Suggested" 😢
im gonna buy a measuring cup and drain into it and top off with valvoline compatible with my trans. no need for a dip stick that way.
This is the way it going to be.

My wife's transmission mounts were wrecked on her 2011 glad they were covered under warranty
The customer probably knew the service won’t solve the problem but was hopeful it might solve the problem 😂
Basically sale your car at 100k miles now and get another one before it becomes a money pit

If the fill plug won't come out, turn it over and fill from the drain.
Did anyone know what that Disick should measure cold, hot, stopped or running in park? Thank you ..
*Dipstick
Planned obsolescence.
Anything Chrysler is a money pit

What a bad designed transmission to begin with
Lol, it's not really bad, just different.
This is the way it's going to be. We can accept it and keep on turning wrenches.
hey stupid how about using a funnel to catch the oil instead of putting the jug there less spillage or a large oil pan you are so stupid
Crap engineering and design. Typical.
What a dumb design that is. All car manufacturers are building crap today. It doesn't matter the brand. Just junk.
