Great video Will! A lot of people can learn something from this video, because I've definitely scrolled past a lot of mediocre listings on FB marketplace. I'm a lot less inclined to buy or look at something if it's not presented "professionally" so capturing attention needs to happen immediately!

This is THE ONLY "no sales on marketplace" video that has actually been helpful. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. You said when the seller makes it hard for the buyer to buy. I clicked on my own listing and it pops up in EDIT mode and there is no way for the buyer to contact me or to buy. I HAD NO IDEA my listing was doing that. I have contacted support and hopefully they will fix it. If you had not said that I would not have looked at my own listing and figured that out !!!!

I am doing exactly what you are advising the seller to do.In the past I have sold a computer and two iPhones in the same manner...At the moment I have a Apple Watch for sale and having a hard time selling it .There are so many fakes that are advertising it is making harder for the honest person .This is market place AU it is so bad that most people are asking me if I have a receipt .
Great to hear you've had that success selling in the past. Apple Watches are probably also harder just because it is a name brand product; I've heard of challenges in the past of getting approved listings with products that often have fakes and what not. Hopefully you are able to sell it soon. Keep working on it!

Thanks for all your great advice. I am trying to sell my fine art prints of my paintings and it seemed no one was looking. I have taken your advice and changed the text in my ads. Also, struggling to get enough people to sign up for my referral page. I am paying 10% for recommendations. Alot of people say they will sign up and then when I had it ready they don't. I have a fraction of the people who said they were interested do it. Many people are lazy. They want money but sending out a group email or printing a coupon to give out is too much work. Thanks again for your wisdom and sharing your experience. I liked and subscribed.
Could you please go to work for FB Marketplace? Then you could set it up so that anyone who wants to sell anything they must first watch your videos. 😁 It wouldn't hurt if FB was set up with certain pieces of information be required in order to post an item for sale. I.E., if a person is listing a yard sale they should have to include dates, times and oh ya, the freaking address! And it wouldn't hurt if FB had their act together when it comes to choosing the category...this feature is not user friendly at all! And you had to bring up pricing...LOL! I cannot begin to tell you how many people try to sell stuff for the same as or higher than what the item sells for from the retailer, brand new. Crazy...but I guess if they can get it then good for them. 😋 Thanks for putting this out there...I wish you a million + views!
I find a lot of listings here where I live in Ontario Canada are very vague and doesn’t give a lot of info. Now the algorithm tells you that if you add more text in the description the easier it’ll be to sell your items.
Do you recommend making a secondary Facebook account (in additional to a personal account that includes your full name) just to use for selling on Marketplace? Because otherwise couldn't you name your town for local pickup and then someone could still look up your address in the phone book or internet? thanks
Hmmm that's a tricky one. I'd try a general search, then open up 10-20 listings and see what the most common category is. Then, you'll have your answer!
About a year or so ago, all my marketplace items would get a decent number of views per day. But in the last year Facebook started pushing paid promotions on us and now my items just don't get seen at all basically if I don't pay. But 95% of the time when I do pay, the views don't change, andthe item doesn't end up selling anyway. so Facebook is basically just stealing my money at this point in my opinion. How do I get my items to be seen without just spamming groups and pissing off all the other users in the groups?
I usually join smaller groups now that are more relevant to buyers of the thing you're selling and then post there too. I get a lot more interest in those areas these days.

I have tried using those ad credits several times and have tons of screen shots of its reach and interaction level, but how do I interpret that information/data and how can I more effectively use that tool on Facebook?
Hey! What are your parameters for your campaigns when you set them up? In other words, how niched down and localized do you get with your audience before using your credits? Also, what specific interaction are you leading them to -- is it an informational page, an opt-in, etc.
@@GrowWithWill Those are probably my issues with the lack of impact from the ads. I don't have a target audience on Facebook so I usually keep it incredibly broad with the goal to drive people to like my page or click through to view videos on my RUclips. My page is just a hobby page attached to my typewriter instagram so it's mostly just photos and links to videos I've done. My audience is mostly in the roughly 50s age range, mostly male, and all over the US- I'd love to branch out to get more people outside of that demographic so should I use the targets for the ad to be people outside of that demographic to drive them to my page or is it not worth it? I only ever use the free ad credits anyways.
Makes sense -- are you driving them to your most popular pieces of content (the tried and true ones that always get good feedback)? Instead of just driving back to your general page, you may find it more impactful to choose one of your pillar pieces of content that you know will evoke more of a response. Taking a quick look at your page, it seems like people really liked your story time video on how you ended up with 17 typewriters, so I could imagine a more effective Facebook ad would be something along the lines of... I own 17 typewriters...learn why in this video. [Insert some line relevant to your audience and why they should care that you own that many] The reason why for example people loved our June 23 post was because it related to them personally -- it allowed them to learn something new (which most people like to do). You could spin out that content into a lot smaller posts so that there is just one call to action -- for example -- if you're targeting a younger demographic in your FB ad, choose that group and write copy like "It's time to DTR between women and typewriters. Learn the scoop in this video"

I have a clear title and clear description and people on Facebook still ask me dumb questions such as do you deliver/ship where I clearly stated," Pick - up only, (name of my city), I list the price less than the retail then they try to negotiate and asks for an amount that is $20-30 less what I am selling and I always say the price is firm. All my items are brand new, the original box is included and I always pick good conditions shoes.

Hi there! I think it’s fine to have an alternate for selling. I will say that having an avatar for your photo may make people a bit more hesitant to buy from you but if you follow the other steps outlined, you’ll be fine selling your items. A good number of folks have had success following what is shared. Good luck!
When selling what is a safe way to communicate ( email,your real phone, messenger,. Just listed a car and right away got a person asking me to email . Not sure if it's a scam to send me virus. Any advice I would appreciate it. Thank you ..
Keep it on Facebook; no need for that other stuff. Could be a scam but it'll quickly unfold itself via the sorts of messages sent after you start talking to them.
I’m not sure what man and van services are. Is that helping people move? The closest section might be in Services/Jobs on FBM. Craigslist or TaskRabbit are better bets though.
There's no need to boost posts in FBM to sell them. At least I've never had to; just relist it if it passes the entire window without interest and tweak your copy.
hi, i just used a proxy to use a facebook account with usa ip, but i still dont have the "shipping option", maybe i should make some sales first? or i should do something else?
I have done a number of these techniques, but no response. I have provided great details which is a time consuming task . Especially when scammers are constantly flooding the marketplace timeline and real ads dont get a chance to be seen for very long. I have tried both ways, simple ads and detailed ads with decent photos. Aside from groups, I don't see categories to list my product under, I am not using the Facebook app, I don't have the space on my device. I am using browser version on mobile device. Is there a difference?
I do everything on the browser version and not mobile. Sorry to hear it hasn't worked for you -- maybe try a few different local cities vs. where you've been posting? I don't do that much FBM anymore since my interests have gone elsewhere, but I'm sending you good vibes and hope you're able to see success!
@@GrowWithWill I did take a couple of your suggestions, I got a couple of "likes" so far but that's it. Someone made a pretty accurate perception that pretty much the younger crowd is looking for free stuff, and those that want to sell are shit out of luck.
When I posted my marketplace listing, those who are commenting are from far places, do you know some posting tips in marketplace that can reach nearby locations?
@@vannycrispino5566 depending on what location you listed, you could try refining the zip code of the location or the city further. Otherwise it could just be people searching with wide scopes reaching out to you because their search conditions are far reaching.

It's pretty accurate. It'd depend on what they set as their location on their main Facebook profile since that's what Facebook pulls from.

Just lower your price after a day or so and it should show up as a strike through price.

That may be a paid feature in order to unlock it; typically buttons are related to FB advertising.

About a year or so ago, all my marketplace items would get a decent number of views per day. But in the last year Facebook started pushing paid promotions on us and now my items just don't get seen at all basically if I don't pay. But 95% of the time when I do pay, the views don't change, andthe item doesn't end up selling anyway. so Facebook is basically just stealing my money at this point in my opinion. How do I get my items to be seen without just spamming groups and pissing off all the other users in the groups?
I usually join smaller groups now that are more relevant to buyers of the thing you're selling and then post there too. I get a lot more interest in those areas these days.

Not sure 🤔 that’s never happened on my end. I wouldn’t worry too much about it though. I find few people complete the ratings after the sale.

Hello can you tell me please , some things I have bought for instance a scooter, the price was so cheap, I paid but it didn’t arrive, five times I purchased nothing came , some said it was in transit, but it didn’t arrive , poor PayPal reimburse me each time, but the advertising is still showing .could you tell me what it is why they don’t send me the goods I paid for.
If it was so cheap, it was too good to be true. I don't buy things that ship from FBM. I only meet up in person to see it myself. Good luck.
Hey Will- what about advertising on Facebook? If you have a Facebook page for your business and get an ad credit- how much does it actually do? What can you do to make it more effective? I have tried using those ad credits several times and have tons of screen shots of its reach and interaction level, but how do I interpret that information/data and how can I more effectively use that tool on Facebook?
Hey! What are your parameters for your campaigns when you set them up? In other words, how niched down and localized do you get with your audience before using your credits? Also, what specific interaction are you leading them to -- is it an informational page, an opt-in, etc.
@@GrowWithWill Those are probably my issues with the lack of impact from the ads. I don't have a target audience on Facebook so I usually keep it incredibly broad with the goal to drive people to like my page or click through to view videos on my RUclips.
My page is just a hobby page attached to my typewriter instagram so it's mostly just photos and links to videos I've done. My audience is mostly in the roughly 50s age range, mostly male, and all over the US- I'd love to branch out to get more people outside of that demographic so should I use the targets for the ad to be people outside of that demographic to drive them to my page or is it not worth it? I only ever use the free ad credits anyways.
Makes sense -- are you driving them to your most popular pieces of content (the tried and true ones that always get good feedback)?
Instead of just driving back to your general page, you may find it more impactful to choose one of your pillar pieces of content that you know will evoke more of a response.
Taking a quick look at your page, it seems like people really liked your story time video on how you ended up with 17 typewriters, so I could imagine a more effective Facebook ad would be something along the lines of...
I own 17 typewriters...learn why in this video.
[Insert some line relevant to your audience and why they should care that you own that many]
The reason why for example people loved our June 23 post was because it related to them personally -- it allowed them to learn something new (which most people like to do).
You could spin out that content into a lot smaller posts so that there is just one call to action -- for example -- if you're targeting a younger demographic in your FB ad, choose that group and write copy like "It's time to DTR between women and typewriters. Learn the scoop in this video"

I have a clear title and clear description and people on Facebook still ask me dumb questions such as do you deliver/ship where I clearly stated," Pick - up only, (name of my city), I list the price less than the retail then they try to negotiate and asks for an amount that is $20-30 less what I am selling and I always say the price is firm. All my items are brand new, the original box is included and I always pick good conditions shoes.

Hi there! I think it’s fine to have an alternate for selling. I will say that having an avatar for your photo may make people a bit more hesitant to buy from you but if you follow the other steps outlined, you’ll be fine selling your items. A good number of folks have had success following what is shared. Good luck!

I’m not sure what man and van services are. Is that helping people move? The closest section might be in Services/Jobs on FBM. Craigslist or TaskRabbit are better bets though.

There's no need to boost posts in FBM to sell them. At least I've never had to; just relist it if it passes the entire window without interest and tweak your copy.

Not sure why you would need a proxy to sell on FBM. I’d only sell in the country you reside in for FBM. Use eBay or Amazon for international sales.
I have done a number of these techniques, but no response. I have provided great details which is a time consuming task . Especially when scammers are constantly flooding the marketplace timeline and real ads dont get a chance to be seen for very long. I have tried both ways, simple ads and detailed ads with decent photos. Aside from groups, I don't see categories to list my product under, I am not using the Facebook app, I don't have the space on my device. I am using browser version on mobile device. Is there a difference?
I do everything on the browser version and not mobile. Sorry to hear it hasn't worked for you -- maybe try a few different local cities vs. where you've been posting?

@@GrowWithWill I did take a couple of your suggestions, I got a couple of "likes" so far but that's it. Someone made a pretty accurate perception that pretty much the younger crowd is looking for free stuff, and those that want to sell are shit out of luck.

Not sure what you mean -- there should be some secondary tags you can use for classifying your rental -- I.e. # of bedrooms, price, location, etc.

Were you listing in the wrong category? Typically when you get that, it's because you were spamming or they thought you were spamming.
When I posted my marketplace listing, those who are commenting are from far places, do you know some posting tips in marketplace that can reach nearby locations?
Hm, tell me more about your listing -- did you make shipping an option? That might be why you're getting people from far away.

@@vannycrispino5566 depending on what location you listed, you could try refining the zip code of the location or the city further. Otherwise it could just be people searching with wide scopes reaching out to you because their search conditions are far reaching.
