- Linking between DMR and Zello using a TYT MD-380 and Zello on an android phone. The other radio is a Motorola DP3400.
The radio standard is DMR which is short for digital mobile radio.

for me, i face problem, from my radio tx to ridao link with pc zello is ok, but from mobile phone zello tx to pc zello + radio... the vox on pc radio cant cut off when after talking, it keep tx... any one face this problem too.. my radio i try on few unit, facing same problem, 888s, puxing 888k, uv5r, any help?
hey! I watched the video and for some reason when I do it I get steppage from the one connected to zello. is there a way I can fix this?

Thanks for this good idea I use instead of a computer an old Samsung Galaxy s2 and a diamond x510 antenna so I have with my dmr almost unlimited range.

Just watched your video it good to see it working. I am pretty new to zello and wondered how you setup the link between your dp3400 and your phone. I currently have a couple of dp4400's and wish to link them up now seeing that working. I have cps for the programming. Thanks.

The microphone of the radio is the top with the 2.5mm jack
The bottom jack would have been the speaker out
When I connect the DMR Radio, the channel of the radio stays open... I have vox on 1. How to fix that?

From my understanding you don't have to do anything. Just as long as it's on the same frequency as the tyt then it will work.

I have no clue how to build an antenna, but there are plenty of web pages about antennas if you bother to look it up

Thank you. And I was thinking of doing the same with the same radio albeit on analogue as I don't currently have another DMR radio to test, I might set up a one way system so I can hear audio from the radio on the phone for scanning purposes.
Another reason I'm getting an adapter is so that I can plug in some normal headphones into the radio instead of having to use the earpiece that came with it which isn't very good quality.
Ah yeah, I see. I have set up a system before just to be able to listen to the DMR radio through Zello, and it works really well. DMR audio sounds nice through Zello. Better than analog.
I just tried the adapter and I can confirm for you that it works fine with a set of earphones plugged in, but I only hear audio in the left ear. This might be because my earphones have 3 rings on them because they are for a smartphone and have a microphone too.
Ok that's great thank you. I am definitely going to get one of these adapters, However I will have to turn off the tones in the radios settings as you have probably found out - you can't adjust the volume on them.
Yeah, its quite a headache! Figuratively and literally! I have had my tones muted almost since I got the radio

Just tried hooking it up direct to a Boefeng for Analogue Digital and that works better. But as you say, the volume needs to be very high to keep the VOX keyed.
hifromrich I'm not sure if I completely understood. Did you mean a digital baofeng radio or you made an analog crosslink?
Analogue Baofeng with vox to MD380 with vox. Analogue to Digital crosslink.
Ah interesting! I always thought that audio sent over FM sounded bad though when passed through the DMR vocoder. If it has any noise, the vocoder makes it sound horrible to listen to.
It's not too bad really. The main issue is the input vol to the MD380 has to be very high to trigger the vox. Might make a video I think.

Why cant it be even simpiler by just having the same fequency o zello and the radio
Zello doesn't contain any hardware. It's an app and can only use the hardware your phone already has. Phones generally don't support transmitting in FM or DMR

A frequency you're licensed for. Maybe you have an amateur radio license? Don't just pick any random frequency, there are only some frequencies you're allowed to use these radios on.
