    Are there any videos about the Nikon Z 9 or other Nikon products that you would be interested in seeing?

    Can’t wait for what the upcoming Z8 will bring for those of us who don’t need all the Z9 has to offer. The Z6iii will be interesting too!

    Nice video on the Z9. It’s a beast of a camera in terms or weight and specs, Nikon seem to be providing more features with each firmware update which is cool. I wished they would have done that with the Z6II, I really love that camera. There isn’t much content in Nikon gear lately as our Z6/7 line is in need of an upgrade but it’s nice of you guys with a Z9 to remind of of what Nikon is capable of, so we can look forward to their upcoming new releases. I sold my Nikon gear to get Sony for their video features, along with auto-focus and stabilization. I do wish Nikon will come out with cameras that have Panasonic LUMIX S5II stability and Sony’s auto-focus.
    I would like to see some of that 8K goodness from the Z9. How big are the files when shooting ProRes, say for 1 minute?

      Awesome feedback Wayne! I got into the mirrorless world in 2019 with the Z6 and have been fully invested ever since. But I was not a DSLR shooter, so I didn't have anything to compare it to. For my workflow, I have never had issues with any of the Z line cameras, but I know they lagged behind the competition for too long and lost a lot of users. I'm hoping to be a voice on why they aren't down and out quite yet. If they can muster an entry level camera that is on par with the Z9 when it comes to auto focus and video specs, they just might win some people over. Fingers crossed 🤞

      Also, I can do a video on file sizes of the different codecs for sure!

      @@AaronSpieler I have a feeling Nikon will have that auto-focus thing solved in the new Z6/7 cameras. A lot of us hoped the dual Expeed 6 setup would have raised the bar for the Z6/7 II much higher than what we got and some of us still hold out hope for a firmware update soon. Getting the Raw function as a paid upgrade made it seem like the feature was there but needed a firmware update to activate but, that we really don’t know for sure. While I did get Sony cameras, I still prefer the Nikon ergonomics. One of the reasons I went Sony was because I found out you can adapt their lens to Nikon cameras. If Nikon has all the things I need in the new camera, my Sony stint may be short lived. The A7R V has some better colors over the FX30 but I still prefer the Nikon look.

      @@AaronSpieler I’ve tested out the A7R V 8K and the files looks good but they can be large.
      I’ve been with Nikon since 2003, the Z6 was an impulse purchase in 2019, I traveled with my Df to get back to the old days of manual shooting. I saw it in the store and decided to check it out. It was lighter than I expected and the kit lens was fantastic, I wasn’t planning on going mirrorless as I figured I could do some video with the D500 however early attempts ended up with focusing noise during the recording. The Z6 solved all the issues with the video functionality of the D500 and it was lighter! Did I mention it was lighter? LOL! Yeah that was a big selling point.

      I used the Sony RX100 mark 5 I believe when we were traveling full time. For vlogging and basic photos. It honestly was an awesome little camera. But when I looked at upgrading to an interchangeable lens system, I didn't look at Sony. Honestly, I can't remember why I didn't, but I looked at the Z6 and EOS R. The Canon quickly became a hard no for me when I saw that it had a bunch of handicaps, mostly when shooting in 4k, the camera would crop. The Z6 had no such handicaps. And as a photographer/vlogger, the fact that you could switch so seamlessly between photo and video on the Z6 was a done deal. And it came with that 24-70 f/4 kit lens which is still a great lens even though it is dwarfed by the 24-120 now. But I will look at those file sizes. You can only shoot 8k in the N-RAW and not ProRes RAW, and some other mix and match codecs/framerates/resolutions. But maybe I could make a short video about that and the file sizes. I have also thought about doing a real word dynamic range test of the different codecs. Would that personally interest you at all?

    Love my Z9. Everything one would ever want as a hybrid shooter. 8k is wonderful but geez, it will fill up your card fast.
    Speaking of CFExpress Type B cards, don’t spend $$$ on name brand cards. It’s just m.2 NVME 2230 Gen 3 drives with a different header. There’s adapters out there that you can plug most 2230 SSD’s in and you have a very cheap alternative. I had my OEM 512 GB Steam Deck SSD laying around and got the $45 adapter from Amazon. It works flawlessly without any hiccups or delays. Tempted to buy another 2 TB from AliExpress and try it out.

      I appreciate the feedback. I was not aware of that. Unfortunately, I have already spent the $$$ lol, but I can definitely look into that and possibly pass that info along here on the channel

    Im hoping the Z8/Z6III has the rear screen and sensor cover plus same AF. I don't need all the codec's so Im hoping it comes in at £2500

    • @AaronSpieler
      @AaronSpieler  Год назад +1

      I do like the screen. It works for both landscape and vertical shooting while still feeling solid. I personally don't need a screen that flips around, but I know a lot of people do like that. So I don't fully know why all cameras don't have fully articulating screens. The sensor shield is very nice. It seems like a no-brainer for mirrorless cameras. However, they ditched the mechanical shutter in the Z9, which is what allowed them to build that shield in. If they were to keep the mechanical shutter for future cameras, I don't know if they would be able to include it. The shield is built different than a shutter is which is why a shutter can not be used as a shield. Personally, the codecs and resolutions is what I need as a videographer. I don't need all of the photo specs, although since getting this camera I have been doing a lot more sport and wildlife shoots and I really enjoy it. So I hope the next cameras do have the robust auto focus, dual cf express type b slots, and all the video specs. No matter what they do, you are right. They need a new camera that is at a more consumer-friendly price point. And fast

    How you lock the usbc? Its flimsy 3/4 connection makes it dangerous

    • @AaronSpieler
      @AaronSpieler  Год назад +1

      I'll be honest, I'm not sure what you are referring to. I'm assuming the USB-C port on the side of the camera? In which case I have only used a handful of times to transfer data from the camera to computer without taking the CF Express cards out

    • @jserenity
      @jserenity Год назад

      @@AaronSpieler , it is the usbc connection. Didn’t you notice that the connection is so short and flimsy? If you connect that remote handle by usbc, it will not be securily connected. I tried to buy a cage and a cable clamp but both smallrig and tilta dont have a cable clamp for z9 to secure the connection.
      I did found a somewhat workaround cable clamp but i dont think im fully happy with it. I am still on the process of buyin it so i have not tested it thou.
