I'm so sick of newscasters trying to guard us from seeing a damn car crash.
I'd be more concerned about a human's desire to see carnage and being pissed when it doesn't happen.
That's their job.
kids are watching.. and it's Graphic in nature,,so they have to hide it.

Surprisingly, the criminal walked away from the crash and the female in the black SUV was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

At Brittany Golden, Isn't always the case? The crook come out of the crash unhurt in one piece and a lot of people get injured and end up in the hospital as a result of his stupid actions. And I know it's easier say that done, the police take its take to capture the crooks

That station doesn't know how to get more viewer's. The very last vid i watched that brought me here with the crash in pasadena replayed the crash like 7 times AND stayed with the camera on scene showing the fire Department using the jaws of life for about 15 mins until the victim was finally freed from the vehicle and put into an ambulance
Another thing, all they have to do is notify people "viewer discretion advised" before showing it again

I'll answer that one for you; we don't have the right to observe horrible things. We are able to do so, but it is not a guaranteed, protected, or Natural Right we possess as human beings.
Our Natural and protected rights can be found in the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights). The observation of a fellow human being In Extreemis is not one of those rights.

I usually dont say this but i feel as though the cops messed this one up; they need to cover both sides of him in order to do what they tried. Maybe the cop in the unmarked vehicle was a rookie but still that was a pretty big error imho

Not understanding why the media bothers posting a video of a police chase using typical sensationalized headlines and hype, but after 8 minutes of uninteresting video, when the interesting crash and apprehension occurs from a non-graphic, zoomed out range you stop the video and show yourselves?

It is policy for news to avoid showing footage of someone's death. They have to stop the footage at that point or the news station can get sued. The news casters have to follow policy. You may be a person who watches it for the gore, but if your loved one's death happens to get filmed for entertainment and put on youtube, would that make you feel good?
They should have a system that turns all the lights red to prevent something like this.

I am so thankful that you cut the feed at the moment of impact. I don't think I could ever be normal again if I had witnessed such a horrific wreck. What's funny is ...the impact was the " worst" part of the video that we shouldn't have been allowed to see ! Without the pause the car just goes forward, and the guy gets out and pretended to not be the driver ! So they failed to protect me and I'm absolutely devastated for the rest of my life !!

You can bet the station has a rule about it. Possibly even the FCC has "guidelines". Gotta protect the squeamish weenies from reality. You can just imagine the outrage if the images showed a dead or mangled person, or blood, even though it's shown without hesitation during prime time in TV dramas and particularly in movies. And kids play it with glee in Grand Theft Auto. What got to me was what looked like acting on the part of the newscaster who was supposedly so upset by the accident he had to look away. If it wasn't pretense, he's pretty soft. Yeah, you can and should feel for the innocent victim, but if you have to look away......... soft.
And for those who want to jump me, I'm not eager to see gore, but the only reason I'd look away from it is to give someone some privacy, if necessary.

The serious threat is that a closely followed suspect might drive so fast on side streets to "take out a minivan with a family in it." The implication of this irresponsible statement is that the lives of a "family" are more valuable than the lives of a childfree couple or a single person, which I resent.
The best part was the Jeep careened about 100 yards down the street, rolling many times, and the driver walked out of it, tried to fool onlookers that he was a bystander, as police rushed in he stood there pointing at the wreck while several in the crowd pointed him out to cops, who tackled him.

I also see it time after time in other chases. Not nearly aggressive enough to stop a vehicle from driving away.

I believe Hannity showed the whole ending. The driver of the red SUV got out of the vehicle and it looked like he was going to make a run for it. However, he stuck around and waited for the cops to arrest him.
He tried to fool them and pretend he wasn't the driver. It didn't work. LOL

On the one hand, media shouldn’t be censoring reality.
On the other hand, people shouldn’t be salivating for horrific footage.

Is this censorship or an editorial decision? I believe it is the latter. Broadcasters have different ways of handling these situations. Some will initiate a delay that will give time to cut away from a graphic image. Some will have the image shot wide so that details are harder to make out. Some will cut away when something potentially upsetting happens, like in this video. It's not censorship to not want to show a moment of death or life-changing trauma as it happens. The people involved are somebody's relatives, friends, loved ones, etc. A level of respect should be observed.

I've seen a dozen chases where cops try to hem in the suspect's vehicle, and 85-90% of attempts are so feckless you wonder what were they thinking. The perp escapes and intensifies his mania and speed.

From earlier comments, I take this:
The driver of the red SUV is ultimately responsible and his actions are no less criminal then if he had been shooting at people.
Hopefully law enforcement uses this video as training to it's officers to help equip them in it's future dealings with like scenarios.
Hopefully drivers including myself will watch this video and help us remember that defensive driving saves lives and keep in mind that final video frame and how to avoid it in the future.
And hopefully media talking heads will use Troy Haden, (the calm cool collected one here in this video,) who does everything right. He refuses to be baited by stupid comments from the other dude. Examples: when asked by dumb guy to tell everyone how to recognize unmarked law enforcement vehicles following idiot driver in red SUV, Troy smartly replies, I'm not going there (because if I did it would only serve to help future idiot drivers.)
And finally, my ears are thanking God that neither talkhead had one of those high-pitched wretched squealing voices that often accompany such events. (You all know who I am talking about, right?)

I don't understand how the police always seem to leave a path for escape in these chases. When the one officer made their move on the driver's side, the other should've been right there on the passenger side & it pretty much could've been over.
That's exactly why LA & many other cities stopped high speed pursuits. They often end like this.

I lived 1/10th of a mile from the crash site for 20 years...the cops NEVER should have escalated things right in that area, theres bound to be a terrible accident. That is one of the most congested roads in the Phoenix metro area. I do really miss that Whataburger though.
