  • Awhile back we rescued a beautiful pair of Argentine Boas that survived a house fire. They've been seen occasionally on the channel, but have never officially been introduced! Here's how we got them, and how they're doing after a year in our zoo :)

Animals in general really. So long as quality of life remains intact, its amazing how many animals can live long lives with some extra care.
No shame to anyone who decides not to take that on though. It's so important to be honest with yourself about how much time, expertise and money you can dedicate to a pet.

@@technicaldifficulties368 Yes indeed! One only has to see how much joy tri-pawed dogs get out of life, to realise just how wonderfully brave animals are in the face of adversity, even those for whom matters of survival have long since been a consideration for their species. The only difficulty is in getting them to let us know when they are struggling, so that we can get them vet attention early! Many is the cat and dog owner whose pets became miraculously fine whilst at the vet clinic!!

The one from the wild I think was a baby. But the pet store one? A BEAUTIFUL Western Ribbon. S/he was my favorite. Didn't know about sexing back then so don't know the gender. He passed away because of presumably a disease from the wild snake. I was under 10 at the time.

I went through a house fire a little over a year ago, and I know just how scary it is. Losing everything. Thankfully, my collection was smaller, and I was able to get my pets to safety. (Except for one)
I'm glad you found names for them! I started typing this before we got to the names, but I thought Perseverance would have been a good, strong name!

It is a real shame what ended up happening to them and their home, but glad that they're safe and thriving now!! Such a beautiful pair, and glad they're now a mainstay in the Snake Discovery family! ❤️

these two are incredibly lucky, one of our neighbors had a house fire last year and lost 3 out of 4 of their cats, it also happened at night and destroyed their home. thankfully our builders up here move fast and they are in their new home now. i wish anyone whose gone through that the best of luck and a fast recovery.

This story reminds me of a local highschool here in Australia that had a really awesome reptile room with all sorts of pythons, lizards, turtles and more which caught fire due to a faulty wire, they lost so so much and the survivors had so many health issues. Thank you guys for helping these special needs reptiles!

That's great, I experienced a fire less than a year ago, which displaced me and my animals, and am so fortunate that the fire didn't reach the room with my snakes and arachnids. Got things taken care of and were all good now, still can relate and am happy to see you doing this.

I actually watch the video that you made a few years ago with the man whose house burned down and I can’t imagine how it would feel I mean it would take so long and so much hard work to Bree lots of snakes and have hundreds of snakes and just being there and witnessing them all pass away without being able to do anything I couldn’t even imagine the pain but I hope he’s OK
