I used to listen to Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" album around 1974'ish and transcended, alone w/o weed. Just listening to that album using headphones was enough.
👍👍MAGICAL is EXACTLY the word to describe this masterpiece. imho it isn't only what Robin plays, it is the spaces in between, the quiet, allows the note to resonate. Perfection.
James Dewar's voice and Robin's gorgeous guitar still sends me to tears well over 40 years after this was released. Thank you for taking a listen to his music, it is timeless !
I am so blessed to have seen the Robin Trower power trio live during this time, twice. James Dewar was the perfect vocal and bass accompaniast, an unequaled combination.
Thanks for the awesome reaction. I grew up listening to robin trower, even went to Winterland Concert for Bridge of Sighs in SF. Never understood why this guy didn't get the attention, I like him far more than i like Clapton. Just an amazing musician, with all kinds of styles in his tunes. Really miss James Dewar, amazing vocals and bass player from Stone the Crows.
I think one of the reasons is that Trower stayed true to his dream and did not sell out to what he thought the people wanted. Another reason is that after radio stations stopped playing longer songs, his classic stuff did not get a lot of airplay. I can remember XRT in Chicago used to play him quite a bit when Bridge of Sighs came out. That album was voted their album of the year and then they cut back on playing his music. I still dont know why. And I miss Jimmy too.
I have and like the Traffic Album in the background! Robin Trower is amazing! He can create some atmosphere! He still tours too! I like Caledonia & Wish you were Mine among many others!
Love this song. Having seen Robin Trower a couple times I can tell you this song put me in a daydream like state and I looked around and saw most the audience was there with me. Been to hundreds of concerts and so much of that I cannot even remember. But the feeling I got seeing/hearing this song played live was special and stuck in my memory.
I remember buying this album when I was in high school in the late 1970s. I brought the album home, sparked up a joint in my room, and listened with headphones. I was transported to another planet brothers and sisters... Some distant galaxy. Floating around near planet Mars. Great album.
LOVE THIS TUNE!!! You can get SO LOST IN IT!! SO, SO, SO GOOD!!! Robin and Jimmy made SUCH a GREAT TEAM! SO GLAD to see you-guys reacting to THIS ONE!! HUGS!!!
Yes, one of his very best tunes, this is all but an ad for what a Fender Stratocaster can do in the hands of a legend, entering peak output time. His first few albums are off the charts with incendiary guitar, with Jim Dewars great, soulful vocals and an amazing sound and vibe, though Hendrix influenced, was all their own. From the same, great debut album, do Sinners Song, a deep track no one reacts to but has an incredible kick and one of his very best solos, up there with this one. The man is an Ikon, I saw him a dozen times, several in his 70s peak, unreal displays of guitar musicianship, he always was one of the best, going back to his stint in Procol Harum in the late 60s. Twice saw him point blank in bars, I got to see him smile at us in more than one show. Spark one up right freaking now!!! More Trower! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎶
I knew when I read the title of this reaction you guys would be digging this one. We used to pair Trower with hashish and proceed to melt into the couch. ☮️
I was thinking the same thing! In 1980 & 81, I was in the Navy and taking electronics school. In the evenings we would turn down the lights, put on some Trower, and like you said, a little hashish, and then melt into our chairs. My buddy and I would take turns playing great music like this and just flow with the music. We introduced each other to some great music, but We both were already familiar with Robin Trower. Thanks for reacting to this, I loved seeing you got it early-on in this song. He’s a genius!
Robin Trower is amazing. I took my son to see him at the House of Blues (Hollywood) before they tore it down. But this song reminds me of Jimi Hendrix songs "Drifting" and "Angel" just beautiful rock music.
Now that's what I am talking about. How good was that? Great to see the both of you light up when hearing this. This is what sharing all this great music is about. Keep the great music alive guys.
Trower has one of the best and most prolific music catalogs of any artist and there are very few that produce what he has in his 60s and 70s - another leve!
In 1977, in the 7th grade my buddy Kandis Johnson professed about the greatness of Robin Trower. I would forever be changed by the Bridge Of Sighs album which I've clung to like a life raft all these years. But it's only been somewhat recently that I've truly immersed my self with this album and it is truly special too. I've been aware of Daydream for some time now but there are some great tracks on this album. The song "Hannah" is one of my favorites! There is just something about it! Robins guitar and James Dewar's vocals are a match made in Rock & Roll Heaven:)
Might have said this before, but my first concert was Trower, I was 15. We had a designated driver with an old van. We sparked quite a few coming and going!
Trower is a wonderful guitarist, and continues playing/recording to this day. I’m gonna guess upwards of 30 albums over the years? A deep dive indeed! 😺🎸👍
Memories~ Walking in Chicago in October~November, frequently dosed on mushrooms... Wonderful. More Trower, please. "Too Rolling Stoned" would be a great place to start. Cheers 🍄🌲🍄💥✨🌈😍
What memories thanks guys. My best friends stoner brother turned us on to RT back in early 70’s and so many others. Robin can still shred to this day!!!
First album showcased their talent. I was fortunate to see him twice in concert and he was amazing. How he came out of Procol Harum with this music has always amazed me. After this album he released Bridge of Sighs. There was nothing like him.
They called Robin Trower the white Jimi Hendrix before Steve Ray Vaughn came out. Y'all need to hear "I Can't Wait Much Longer" or "Twice Removed From Yesterday".
Hello La & Che, the thing about this song is that it sort of stands apart from his other songs. The song has this slow and dreamy melody, which is a major contrast to his more traditional bluesy, hard-hitting guitar sound. One of the best things about this tune is that it features Trower's signature guitar playing style, which is characterized by those beautiful long sustained notes and the heavy use of distortion on those riffs. Here's another one of their song's, if interested "Robin Trower - I Can't Wait Much Longer - 3/15/1975 - Winterland (Official)" (by the channel: Robin Trower) --This song I've suggested is from the same album as "Daydream" the album is called "Twice Removed From Yesterday", it was Trower's first solo album. It was released in 1973. This was so much fun thanks guys for sharing this wonderful tune, a real classic.
Ohmygod that was his first solo album since Procol Harum. He also brought their producer for this. He was the guy who played the Hammond organ on “Whiter Shade Of Pale”.
Spark em UP!!!! Haha...oh yeah XD Guys please do something from the Live Album in 75. Can't wait much longer is KILLER or Little Bit of Sympathy rocks..thx!!!!
Trower power! ✊💪 Amazing band all together. Dewar and Trower compliment each other better than most. Under-rated...except for me and my friends who introduced me in the late 70's early eighties. They were completely unique, deep, dark, sensual, exciting. I love that this stuff still gets to people. Had the pleasure of seeing Trower but Dewar was out a year earlier.
Robin wrote so many great songs, and this has been my favorite since hearing it in '74.James Dewar on bass and vocals was a great soulful singer. The version of this from the Live album is even better.Too Rolling Stoned,Bridge of Sighs, and Day of the Eagle are some you might like, but there are so many more.
Greatest opening act in rock ,IMHO....the hall would still be free of others that would hinder your clear sight of Robin shredding his guitars before the sweet clouds rolled in.... Robin was so commanding, of your attention with his axe and many would go onto compare him to Jimi H....You Dudes hit it right with your reaction and " Bridge of Sighs " should be next and I`ll watch for the sweet clouds rolling in... ....
- "This one makes you wanna spark one up."... - Yes, I did - MANY TIMES! :) - Saw Trower live, twice - amazing each time: "Master of the Note" (could milk a note for all it's worth... slowly). - Mesmerizing
So glad you guys enjoyed that. Trower is a beast. Massive volume and distortion but played with such a light touch. Like how you guys say Pink Floyd like to play at that slow tempo, so does robin mostly, but the spaces he leaves create tension and emotion. SRV is the GOAT but his fluidity and skill level is what is so jaw dropping, whereas Trower and Hendrix, to my mind, go outside the box and experiment more and have a lot more colours to their palette. You must check out the live version of this on youtube at Winterland from , I think, 1975. Its incredible!
That song can move your soul. The version on the 1975 Live album is amazing. Jimmy Dewar on vocals was purely sensational. I have been a Trower fan since the week this album came out. Most fans will tell you to listen to Bridge of Sighs and the album is a masterpiece. But for my money, Victims of the Fury is fantastic. Thanks, Gentlemen, for keeping the music alive. You got yourself a new subscriber!
Hi boys, Thanks for playing this one. Long buried by me in the tracks of time. Great to be reworked to one of the best songs from the past. Daydream by RT is a 10 out of 10!! George Inverness Scortland
There's a live album they did in '75 called simply "Robin Trower Live"...it's a bit hard to find on CD (I have the original vinyl) but it's worth looking for. This song is on there, and it is so good. At one point Robin has a note feeding back (in a good way) that he's bending...and you can hear the snares of the snare drum rattle through the drum mic, as he hits a sympathetic pitch.
If you’re interested in hearing earlier Trower check out his work with Procol Harum. “Song For A Dreamer” is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix while “Whiskey Train” just kicks ass!
Anyone else remember playing this on the stereo getting stoned with friends, and all is quiet but the music. Transcending.
Yes, I remember I was there LOL!
😆
@@MicheleJane I saw Robin Trower live 8 times. Always a great show! The first 3 times we're back in the 70s. The last time was around 2018 I believe.
Yup! Sure do! It's a great memory of 50 years ago when I was a mellow lad of 20.
I used to listen to Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" album around 1974'ish and transcended, alone w/o weed. Just listening to that album using headphones was enough.
I rate this classic a Ten out of Ten.
One of my fave Robin Trower songs. He is unique. Hats off to you guys for showcasing 70’s music that was magical.
I love love LOVE this song! ❤
R.I.P. Jimmy Dewar
We sparked many to this one!!
My favorite of Robin's..........ok one of them :)
I am so blessed to have seen the Robin Trower power trio live during this time, twice. James Dewar was the perfect vocal and bass accompaniast, an unequaled combination.
One of my top fav Trower tunes...Jimmy Dewar voice 😢
Live version from Robin’s live album is unreal!!!
Such a Jimi feel. Fantastic tune.
Thank you for loving Trower as much as i do. You both have incredible taste in music. Love your channel. No one else covers these gems. ❤
Great reaction gentleman. Robins mastery on the Ax and Jimmys silky smooth vocals Robin is so so underrated.. love what you are doing…❤
Robin Trower and James Dewar wrote it, and yeah, we were spellbound🎸
Still
Thanks for the awesome reaction. I grew up listening to robin trower, even went to Winterland

Are you kidding me!!! This guy hits every note of the soul !!! dude !!!!
Trower was the closest sounding guitarist to Hendrix after Jimi passed on. Continuing that wonderful psychedelic soul blues vibe.
Great reaction. Trower's guitar and Dewar's voice were a match made in rock-n-roll heaven.
🎸Love Trower 🎸🎸🎸
One of my favourite Robin Trower tracks ☺
I have and like the Traffic Album in the background!
Robin Trower is amazing!

I like Caledonia & Wish you were Mine among many others!
You can immediately tell a Trower song…. his guitar has a unique tone that after 50 years I still cannot put into words!! And Dewars voice- OMG!!😎😎😎😎

YES !!!! the top Trower tune EVER.
Saw Robin and James in winter of 1975, at the Municipal Auditorium in Atlanta. They were the front band for Queen!
@@anngallifreyyou are so lucky!

He had the most amazing voice ever. I hear him and the passion in his voice makes me cry.

Nope.
It's good but not "best ever."
the live version of this song is incredible!
I gave this a thumbs up during your into...GREAT SONG👍👍
The live version is even better.
BACK IN THE DAY: Robin Trower Albums were great for cleaning your weed. Back then, most weed was icky brown, full of seeds and sticks.
Yeah this song will make you float away
Lumbo Gold!
The legal weed in MA helps appreciate him even more now a days!
Double album covers work better. "The more you know!" 🌱

It's absolutely a contender for Robin's best song. Gotta mention James Dewar's bass/vocal performance too. Beautiful song.

I don't know how you guys keep hitting my favorite songs 99 percent of the time.
Deadly combination of Dewars soul singing ability and Robin Trower’s Ethereal playing makes this song beyond words.
Whew When Robin Puts the pedal to the metal and Floors it on that solo just blows me away!! And I've been listening to this song for 30 years.....
One of my favorite songs. They were great in concert in the 70's.
Robin Trower made a album 2021. Humble soulful man still performing.
Hey! we sparked plenty in the day when this came out! Michigan State winter 1974! Oh my goodness.
One of my fav albums. For Earth Below is also excellent!
Robin Trower is amazing. I took my son to see him at the House of Blues (Hollywood) before they tore it down. But this song reminds me of Jimi Hendrix songs "Drifting" and "Angel" just beautiful rock music.
Great song and great album! RIP James Dewar and Reg Isidore.

Trower was a Guitar Tone Monster. I think he used Univibe effects. Deja-Vibe, what ever its call. Hendrix also used that effect.
I saw Robin Trower do a free show downtown Houston, Texas. You have to listen to bridge of sighs.
Might have said this before, but my first concert was Trower, I was 15. We had a designated driver with an old van. We sparked quite a few coming and going!
