James' honey voice was the perfect accompaniment to Robin's guitar genius. On the LIVE 1975 version Robin paid homage to 'The Man', referring to Jimi...
1973 I was 23 and just back from Vietnam. Trower welcomed me home. I wore this LP out
Yes, welcome home and thank you.
The great James Dewar
James Dewar vocals and bass.R.i.P.The best band ever.Robins still going.
Thanks for recognizing the incredible talent of this 3 piece band.
I keep hoping someone will notice my posting that I think Paul Rodgers could do incredible work with Trower since Rodgers and the late James Dewar had such similar voices.
Saw Robin twice. Once in a little night club in San Rafael,Ca . I stood 15 feet from him while he performed..
i'll bet you really felt the passion that close. Was Dewar singing?
Damn, great to hear itt again. Trower's sound was so original. And this melancholy vibe was part of my teen's mind soundtrack. (Walking through the fog lamenting the loss of my true lot, at 15. lol)
😅met him after four different shows.... the best part is he is a humble guy who loves to meet fans after the show. I even had him sign my Traveler Speedster - he asked if it was really a guitar? He smiled. He then autographed my ukulele- and said "I've never touched one of these before"..... he is so cool.
Anything off of Bridge of Sighs or Victims of the Fury albums is golden
If you could only own 10 Rock Albums, Bridge of Sighs is 1 of them.
I got chills on the first line. Feel like I’m swimming through the daydream. Saw him play with Eric Johnson, Koko Taylor and B.B. King headliner. Also opened for Jethro Tull w/ Starcastle Too Old to Rock n Roll to Young to Die tour.
My favorite Robin Trower song he has a lot of them but "Daydream "is heavenly!
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite songs. I bought this album shortly after it came out in '73... when I was a quite out of control. After a 2-day bender on acid, mescaline or some other illicit substance, I would put the headphones on and fall asleep listening to this album. Glad those days are over but, I still love me some Robin Trower.
Robin and Frank Marino from Mahogany Rush were both big fans of Jimi Hendrix and you can hear a lot of Jimmy in their playing. Robin's smooth style along with the tone and especially, that phase shifter, gave his playing such power... and daydream is the perfect song to illustrate that. Near the end of the song, when he starts sawing on those three chords, is one of my favorite musical moments. Just so powerful.
Incidentally, the last time I heard, Robin was still touring and going strong at nearly 80 years of age
The man can play My favorite from is Too Rolling Stoned
Year I graduated HS. 68-75 was a great, great era. And the best thing the end stage British Empire ever gave the world.
Hendrix influenced but bluesier for sure, the vocals of one of the most underrated Jimmy Dewar. What a gem!
- Master of "the note": could milk it slowly, soulfully, for all it's worth! :)
James dewar, Scottish singer used to play with stone the crows, maggie bell singer no one covered her yet! Alex harvey of sensational alex harvey bands, brother played in stone the crows died on stage, electrocuted by Mike stand I think. (70s)all great bands! Give them a try ✌️
Very cool song from him. He has such a touch. Great with BLT (Jack Bruce on bass) too.
James Dewar on bass and vocals
Pronounce Procol HARE-UM...James Dewar on vocals...RIP.
He is a living ad for Fender Stratocaster Guitars. 🎸
this has been one of my favorite songs since the moment I heard it and listen to Jimi Hendrix's often covered "Little Wing" for a point of reference.
Another disciple of Hendrix. Jimi had such a tremendous influence.
Check out the live version from Robin Trower Live. It's even better and Robin stretches out a bit. James Dewars vocal is, as here, sublime.
Thanks for the Robin Trower. Another great guitarist from that era was Tommy Bolin. He only had two albums before died of an overdose. Teaser and private eyes.
I saw Tommy Bolin open for Trower at Winterland, what a great night!!
Tommy Bolin Teaser ! 😎
Vocals and Bass by James Dewar.
I love the Hendrix influence. And so clean and worked out.
This is such a melodically beautiful slow blues tune, and James Dewar was the perfect vocalist and bassist to accompany Robin Trower. I got to see them perform this live in the late 70's. I will never forget.
Robin tuned down a full step and then used heavier gauge strings.James Dewar is the singer.Reg Isidore is the drummer. One of my favorite songs ever...
I have many robin trower lps still listening to them the perfect duo of his guitar and the voice of James dewer check out bridge of sighs ❤
and I love how the organ provides nice contrast to the guitar.
There is no organ on it
@@paulmatschull1923 oh yes there is, I hear it. It's mixed low though.
No The Robin Trower Band are a three piece tight blues rock band Guitar Bass drums that’s it. Never has an organ keyboard or synthesiser featured on any of the groups work.
The live version of this is the best version strong and powerful 😊
Man was truly underappreciated, was up there with Jimmy, Stevie, Eddie you name it he could hold his own. I don't care what anybody says, they cant see this there fkn deaf.
The live version is even better.
The live version of this song is even better than the studio version. Live in Stockholm Sweden 1975
Hey brother , more Robin please. Thanks !!!
Robin has Vast Album History spanning Decades. His 1987 record , Passion his Finest in my Opinion.
Yea still rockin today, salute Robin!
Power Failure, The Devil Came from Kansas, Whiskey Train. Just a few from Procol Harum.
One of my favorites from Mr. Trower but I prefer the live version. 💪🤠🎸
So second reaction I have watched first being “Watermelon in Easter Hay”, one of my favorites, I saw Frank and have seen Robin as well, this is my favorite album, and songs first off Thanks, and good reviews, I do hope you have started down the Zappa “Rabbit hole”……
A great power Trio, but try Stevie Ray Vaughan "Voodoo Child" live in Austin Tx....no one plays Blues quite like him!
You think the Red Hot Chili Peppers might have been influenced by this song for the guitar sound on their tune "Under The Bridge"? I recommend the Procol Harum tune "Poor Mohammad" for some of Trower's best work with that band.
PROCOL HARUN WITH AN N IS LATIN FOR "FAR FROM BEYOND THINGS" WAS THE NATURE OF THE BAND 😂 ROBIN TROWER IF YOU LOOK AT THE TITLE OF THE ALBUM DAYDREAM COMES FROM ECHOS THAT THEME 😂 ROBIN TROWER IS THE GREATEST ❤ LOVE YOU ROBIN SEE YOU IN HOLMFIRTH IN MAY ❤
Very nice reaction.
Really great song !
I always thought that when you listened to a Robin Trower track you got 2 songs for the price of one.
