  • This video will go over something that is overlooked when working on a variator for a Hyosung prima.
One of the things that no one knows is that the variator nut that holds the variator together is left-handed.
    basically reversed threads.
I made the same mistake thinking it was standard not realizing that my scooter is Korean made and they use millimeters & not standard.
It's the only reversed thread nut on the whole machine, but the main purpose is to tell you about this as I made the same mistake of trying to take it off the regular standard way and over tightened it and ended up actually wrecking some of the threads.
I'm still waiting to hear from the manufacturers on where to get that nut replacement and because the threads are kind of stripped. I don't think it's going to work if I get a brand new one so the fix is to actually go get a washer and put that on first before you put the nut on and then tighten it as it should be and then put the rest of it together I'll upload another video so you all get a demonstration.

Thanks for the saving my butt note. That's the kind of stuff that usually makes me really angry when I break stuff.

have you been able to locate any performance clutch springs? the 3 springs on the clutch shoes. We've got an SF50 w/ the Technigas pipe, but tuning will be difficult if we can't swap out the clutch springs...
    thanks!

What weight rollers did you end up going with? I have a SF50 rally and put 6 x 7grams (42g total)

Sorry for the long wait I did not get this message. I went with lighter weights. I actually did mine differently and went with 5 g rollers. You can tell the difference when you get above 25 or 30 mph. The lighter the rollers actually help you take off a little bit quicker. But you don't want to go too light because then you don't have the power.
