Exploring the Falkland Islands 🇫🇰 Britain’s Most Remote Island (Isla Malvinas)

- The days just keep on getting better, Welcome to the Falkland Islands (Isla Malvinas) We ended up booking a local tour operator through Princess to organise our trip around the island. As we only had the day, and with us wanting to explore Stanley, it meant we had a few hours to drive to the best spots on the island to find PENGUINS! And boy did we find some! This was also supposed to be a non windy day...so apologies for the sound.

Planning on taking the same cruise in the future. How did you find your guide/driver?
Amazing!! This cruise was booked with the help of princess. However you can just find the Berthas beach tour! 💗
Hello from Stanley! I'm glad you liked it here, and it's worth coming back one day to see more elephant seals - the one you saw was a youngster but the big males are huge and when they do their play-fighting it's extremely dramatic. There's a place near Bertha's Beach where they can be seen, but for the best views it's worth going to one of the outlying islands. You get very dramatic scenery on some of the smaller islands, and an even greater sense of calm and isolation.
Please would you change the title of the video? It upsets people, especially people who lived through the war, to have their country misnamed and given the name that the invaders used. Even the spanish-speaking people here (Chilean, mostly, but also people born in Peru, Argentina and Spain) call it Las Islas Falklands. People find it hurtful that their identity has to be given an unwanted addition. Would you like it if someone who had tried to hurt you gave you an unwanted nickname, and for ever afterwards all your friends and co-workers and strangers alike used the nickname in brackets after your real name? That's how it feels to the residents here. I know you weren't wanting to be unkind or disrespectful, it's not something you'd know if nobody told you. Please change it though?
PS also if you go to some of the other islands, or to a couple of beaches on East Falkland besides the ones you did, you can see Rockhopper penguins, which are tiny and very bold, and occasionally Macaronis who like to chill with the Rockies.
I understand u guys r hurt, but we r too, the thing is u have very little empathy for Argentina, because at the end of the day u have the British coloniser mentality. Just like i respect u for calling them Falklands for your own reasons, u should also see that for many people it’s MALVINAS, they’re national soil in our constitution. I’m sorry, but he did right by naming them in two ways. It’s not a nickname, it’s their other name, for Argentinians and a lot of people the British are the invaders. Whether u like that or not it’s another thing, I recently learnt from people who went there (Argentinians) that we are called in a derogatory way there "argis", we call u "kelpers"cuz the British used to call u that, not in a derogatory way…btw the big majority of us also hates Galtieri, war was totally unnecessary. But Margaret Thatcher was a war criminal. Call it Falklands if u like but don’t force other people to not call them Malvinas. Y’all mostly treat Argentines like shit even after the 90s “pacification”, the friendliest ones are the ones who know they can get money from u, some shops have very unfriendly signs for the Argentines, then u get mad cuz we don’t give u good internet connection by cable…learn to negotiate instead of only importing some of our wines and put them almost hidden in your supermarkets….ISLAS MALVINAS is their other name, not a nickname, this is like telling a birth mother to not call their birth child how she wants to call them cuz it’s a “nickname” by the very people who took the child and molded them into what they wanted the child to be
@@zarinach21
Sorry. Your opinion is racist, you cannot expect the Falkland Islanders to accept a name that is exclusively used by people who want to ignore their democratic rights. You also cannot expect them to express empathy for your constitution, you must understand that it is morally wrong to claim someone else's homeland as your national soil.
I’m enjoying your cruise videos very much. I’m signed up to do a 22 day South America/ Antarctica cruise with Holland America in December 2024. Looking forward to The Falkland Islands very much. How was the 4 X 4 ride? Was it incredibly bumpy? Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching. Sounds amazing! Not too bumpy at all, would highly recommend!

Isnt the Pitcairn the remotest British island?
Well this feels the most remote lol!😂
No Tristan de cuhna is the most remote.
How come ? It is so far from UK ?
because the islands never belonged to the UK. They are in Argentinian territory. The UK are PIRATES!
@@agosbraida4650The English first landed there 222 years before the Rio de La Plata (part of which would become Argentine) even existed. The name "Falklands" was given in 1690 and maps from as early as 1702 show the islands with this name. Argentina never had legitimate control of the islands and started and lost a war in an attempt to seize them.
More tourism needed! Keep it up lads.
Thanks so much for watching!
As someone who has spent the last 17 years in the overseas territory of Gibraltar, it's great to see a fellow overseas territory! And wow it could not be any different! Gibraltar is dense and populated. The Falkland's looks sparse! I would love to visit one day!

Pleasantly impressed and grateful for you guys posting a video of such a beautiful place! I’m saving for a trip this year to the Falklands and can’t wait to see the nature and explore the surroundings. The people there seem so friendly and welcoming. New sub!
Thanks so much for watching. You’ll really enjoy it. There’s so much to see!
You always get me ahhaah so many fun places
It is British and the people want to stay that way, I met an old lady from the Falklands in Montevideo many years ago, she was more pro British than a lot who live there, this was before the War. I myself have been in 76 Countries in the World through my job as an engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Wow, 76 that’s amazing! Yes we agree, the referendum said all we need to know lol
The islands are Argentinian. England stole them because they have no culture. Cheers
@@gastontorres399 English culture is rich and elegant, but their imperial-internationalist hunger destroys that. Now they have putted people to live on there and claim the territory, that helps them having claims in antartida. Falklanders are not an organic nation.
@@dabbleandtravelit belongs Argentina 🇦🇷
@@gastontorres399 Argentina is literally just European colonists who butchered the indigenous tribes and claimed the country. Now they are dumb enough to think Falkland islanders who built everything on those islands and ran them for 200 years don't have the right to self determination, you know, the same right Argentines today claim for their own territory. They think that 9th generation Falklanders should have no right to decide, and that a bunch of Argentines who never set foot on the islands and are just descendants of European colonisers themselves have more right. LOLOLOLOL The islands never were Argentine and never will be. Ever. The referendum is perfectly legit. If you say it isn't and you're an Argentine personally descended from a European settler, then your vote in Argentina should count for zero and you should let the indigenous tribes run the country.
Thank you for sharing 🥰
Thanks for watching!
You've already done the best thing on the island. I saw king penguins at the bay by the shipwreck and got some delicious fish and chips in the last pub you've been. In Uruguay Montevideo you can get the best steak in the world! The Asado there is outstanding! Beware of pickpockets and robbers in South America.

Very interesting. Good to see a bit of Stanley. Great to see inside Globe Tavern and Victory bar.
It’s British not just English.
Just wondered was there a cash point at the store or post office. Did you manage to get some souvenir notes. ?
I believe the RAF operate two flights weekly from RAF Brize Norton. Also option of LATAM flight from Punta Arenas Chile.
Nice video. 🇬🇧
We did get some souvenir coins not notes unfortunately, there was an atm but I can’t remember why we didn’t withdraw any money haha I think it’s because we paid in GBP. Yep they do!! I think the RAF flights are quite expensive though!😅
What is the difference between English and British ?
@@123bwlch the flag for a start. 🇬🇧. The flag of the uk is made up of the different regions of uk. England 🏴 is where most people in uk live. Most people in England originally came from Northern Ireland Scotland Wales or other parts of British Isles or beyond.
Some people commonly refer to British things as English when in actual fact it says on the front of a British passport the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland.
During the Falklands conflict of 1982 the UK Task force included service men from all over UK and beyond. The Welch Guards the Scots Guards. The Gurka Regiment. I could go on but if you are genuinely asking a question that is my honest answer to the best of my ability. 🇬🇧

What's wrong with peas?? Watching the video makes me think of Iceland, another distant country/island with often very windy weather and generally low population. Hope the Falklands stays safe, there are troubles political ahead. Facinating to watch, this is one place I feel I am very unlikely to ever get to visit.

Argentina's economy is tanking following an austerity program and annual inflation in March was 287%. No wonder these islands want to stay British and not have to face what the Argentinians are facing.
