Mad respect you both. I have been married for 36 years.BUT if my wife and I was around each other 24/7 and in close quarters like this...I would be thrown overboard.Great video thank you for sharing
Ahhhhhhh, how wonderful it is to be young. Two beautiful people living their life as they see it. May you keep finding happiness in everything and in everywhere turn.
You make a really beautiful couple. The fact that you are still together after eight years working and living in confined conditions shows that you are the real deal. You are both genuine and down to earth and that is something I value. Xx

Nice video Tristan, good to have an owner that understands that this can work. My wife and I worked together for the first 10 years of our marriage, the 14th of this month was our 34th anniversary and she is still my best friend. Wish you both all the love, peace and happiness life has to give.
This for me has been the best "BLOG". to date.....As a Dad and Grandad and a total boat person.... The personal aspect given by you two regarding how you handle personal and job situations in what is a very close call situation...And the fact that Tristan is Captain of the vessel speaks volumes for the approach you both have and the respect given by the crew....I am sure your vessel and the way it is run will be the envy of many Captains/owners alike.. Hats off to you guys.....
Delighted that you are such a happy couple in circumstances that cannot always be easy. Making your lives in a beautifully appointed shoebox must take real commitment.
As mentioned by Johnnyllad, you make a beatiful couple. I love your humility and gratefulness. What you have built is of not from happenchance. You take care of your loving relationship, your team and your connection to your boss just like you take care of a garden (leadership): you plant the seed, you water it and pull out the weeds (drama) as soon as they appear. Your boss obviously does the same. All the best.
I've worked from home for 15 years reading blueprints for contractors. My wife's work with the state shut their offices down during the pandemic and then decided she could work from home fulltime. It has been 2 years now and after her mental transition of working at home and not being out and about every day, we worked on our rolls and space for the work day. I have found that I adore having her home with me and we've gotten along swimmingly. We both are near retirement and us being home together until then will smooth us into our golden years together.
The best video yet. Congratulations, I never knew about you guys. Answered my question about where the Captains cabin was and more. Real informative. She is right about having diferent workings hours along with diferent responsabilities does help the relationship. I now look at you Tristin in a new way. This video took you from being just a boss to just a regular guy with a job. A good thing. Was married once so can relate to the bathroom and closet space lol. Its the same for all couples :). Looking forward to your next video. Keep up the good work. And many more years of happiness together . you guys make a lovely couple.
Great to see and hear your "inside story" for which many thanks. You are blessed to have each other. Living and working together isn't easy, but you both obviously make the effort and gain the rewards. Best wishes to you both. And when Tristan wants a break from the captain's vlog, let's see more from Giv about the work of chief steward.
You 2 are great, I can totally appreciate your situation as I drove a big rig for ten years from Canada to the States and my wife (girlfriend at the time) came with me everywhere! We have 3 children now and are absolutely living live to the fullest! Cheers guys and am loving your video's
Hi Tristan, I'm embarrassed to say that before your channel my only exposure to yacht crews was the reality show Below Deck. My opinion was that I would never surround myself with people like that. It is so refreshing to see what a real yacht crew is like. I have learned a lot from your channel on how I plan on running my own boat. Even though it is not to your scale as an airline captain for 35 yrs. I appreciate the attention to detail and the organization that you have on AWOL. You are a lucky man in many ways. You are doing what you love and you have a wonderful partner to share that lifestyle with. Giverny is obviously beautiful, but every time she speaks her inner beauty and intelligence comes pouring out. You compliment each other very well. You are obviously both intelligent, driven people that take pride in both your personal and professional lives. Bravo on your success both on AWOL and in your relationship. It didn't happen by luck, you are both very special people. Much love and respect to you and Giverny, Paul
What a fantastic video guys, sharing your relationships with us all! It sounds complicated but at the same time exciting! Thank you for sharing this, you truly are the 0.1%!
They’re obviously incredibly wealthy as most people don’t have personal staff, nor do they have personal chefs but it’s very nice are they should share their life with us in this way and I’m pleased that they enjoy their beautiful home with us on here thankyou xx
I've enjoyed your videos so much. I remember seeing this video when I first started following you, but it is a treat to see it again now that I've been following the videos. Nice to see you as a couple, how working different hours helps coping with your being together in limited space 24/7 365. Keep up the great work and the enjoyable videos. I wish you both the best in your relationship and wonderful careers!
now i think the captains cabin would be bigger and more plush i never been on a yacht so thank you for showing part of your life...and what a cute couple you two
My cousin was doings exactly what you are doing she was chief stewardess he was the captain and after many happy years and tax free wages they now live in ibiza with 2 beautiful daughters all the best guys x
“LOVE IS IN THE AIR”...... Thank’s to both of you Tristan and Giverny(sorry if I spelled your name wrong) another “lovely” video from....... “ THE LOVE BOAT “ all the best to you guy,s and of course also to the rest of the crew. Look forward to the next video..and the next.....;)
Good video. I spent over a decade as a truck driver living out of my truck. I am quite used to living in confined spaces. The layout seems really god, and a lot better than some of the other crew quarters I’ve seen. So appreciate you guys, and so happy for you that you can make it work. That’s one of the reasons I like you channel is that you’re so open about the day to day life aboard a super yacht. One thing I’ve been meaning to ask, what’s under the stairs leading up out of the crew area. E
Just came across your blog. For what one thinks of as such a “prestigious” job, you and Giv seem to be the most normal, down to earth people!!! Am enjoying watching!
Great video from you both....you make a great couple, and if I were in the market for a SuperYacht charter I would have every confidence in your ability to try your hardest to make my holiday memorable. Cool, calm and confident....great team!
Geez, and I bare boat-chartered a 40 foot sailboat and was one part of three couples aboard for a mere week. By the end of day six, all three couples were ready to kill each other, and nobody was getting along with anybody. Could not WAIT to get off that boat! High praise for Tristan and Giverny, about whom I had some faint suspicion! Cheers and best wishes. And I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you Tristan for all you amazing videos. i was waiting for a long, a video about the crew quarters. So what a beautiful couplIe you are making. It’s really a treat to follow you on your superyacht"s life. Love from France.
Your very professional and accountable in everything you do Captain. She's beautiful and very professional as well. The two of you make a great team. Both of you are very blessed.
For several years i worked at an office where everyone worked extremely cohesively, we were firing on all cylinders and it was great. So enjoy that atmosphere while it last. It only take one person to knock everything out of whack. Great video and a very fine yacht I might add.

Tristan, love your videos. I love Harleys and boats and always been captivated by big yachts. Your vids are really cool. Your lady Giv is absolutely adorable. Happy for you both, and I can imagine it must get crazy at times. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you for sharing that. Is eight years together on a superyacht the equivalent of 25 years married? You seem to be so harmonious together, it's delightful to observe, you must feel lucky that you have found each other.
Hello from a retired mariner after 40 years of the water. I just ran across your RUclips channel. It is very interesting, keep up the good work. I have been binge watching you channel and stay safe.
Thanks guys, glad your so happy. Maybe brighten up your cabin with some beautiful original paintings. They take you out of your tiny space and let your imagination flow. I'm sure you can afford them on a super yacht Captain's cheque. What I would also do is buy a Bluetooth speaker (even if you have to play it quietly). Live life, love music! I don't mean to be patronizing but I am currently locked down in a small condo in Bangkok and I'd have gone mad without music and art.
I’ve recently turned a corner mentally and feel a wave of ambition washing over me. I spend every morning having a coffee at Sanctuary Cove Marina, looking at the yachts and dreaming. I really want to enter the yacht space, as a crew member or in sales, and one day as an owner!
@@inconnu4042 There is hope. Microturbine generators have only recently become approved by Lloyds for use in yachts. They burn diesel much much cleaner than piston engines ever will. Combined in a hybrid electric setup this will make diesel powered yachts extremely clean and quiet. Also, there seems to be a large amount of capital going into producing synthetic fuels in places with excess renewable energy. This kind of diesel will be CO2 neutral in addition to being without sulphur and other harmful stuff. Pure battery-electric yachts will have low speeds and very short ranges for decades to come. Hydrogen has potential, but I don't trust those high pressure tanks anymore after reading about the accidents that have happened.
Hello there, I was not sure whether I wanted to watch this VLOG, so pleased I did, what a great relationship you pair must have, it came over on the camera that it was genuine, full marks to the both of you, good luck to the both of you for the future. P.S. yes I agree with a previous response, time for a 'ring' as you apear to have something very special. Best regards
Jeeze! You live with less clothes and personal gack than I take on an overnight trip! Love the commitment to saving plastic. i work in the film industry. We have the SAME problem where if we aren't careful we can blow through that many plastic water bottles on a small shoot as well in even less time!!! We actually saved $ recently buying the crew and clients aluminum water bottles (non-insulated) at $3.50 each and a water station to refill them. It IS SO doable to save plastic - and save it for really important things like medicine, food safety, etc. Will check out the org even though it's a different industry. Rock on!
Great to see you too together. I didn’t know you were married and working with your wife!! So happy for you too. It’s rare that a captain gets to be with their spouse.

Greetings from Colorado! Thank you for a very special video with an intimate peek into your unusual lives. I've been in the travel industry for over 20 years. I learned something from flight Crews that has truly benefited me, that you may already know. Available in any grocery store or Pharmacy in the world, usually, is melatonin. This is the harmless hormone which the body uses to set its own bio clock. Essentially, two or three days before you shift time zones in your schedule to a significant degree, you take a melatonin a half an hour before your anticipated bedtime in the soon-to-be time zone where you will be located. Does that make sense? I have been blessed for this to work for me extremely well. Not all people find it useful. But usually, if you follow the instructions, I find anyone can benefit from this. Significantly. 20 years ago when I first heard about this, it was a Time magazine cover article. One of the benefits noted by lb testing on animals was that mice had almost double the life expectancy if they lived with melatonin in their lives every day. That's got my attention. Anyway, I'm enjoying your Productions. Thanks again.
Tristan, I'M jealous. The two of you are such a happy couple, but the main factor is that even you have your own schedules, you always know that your life partner is only a shout away. What a privelage!!!!!!! You are on a working holiday!!!! And for me, after all these years, me and my fiance are also 24/7 in each others company because she is working with me. That is an absolete great privelage. It's making everything so much easy. You are a beautiful couple!!!!!
you 2 are a lovely couple.. you are in charge of the ship. but she makes sure everyone is taken care of.. she is the queen of the vessel.. and it helps tremendously that the owner is ultra cool.. it takes you 2 and the owner to have a great experience.. and its obvious you all do that very well
It truly is A Way Of Life. If I was a yacht owner, I'd be tempted to have 2 of each crew, 2 captains, engineers and so on. So crew can have family time.
@@isaiahwilleford4618 My wife and I started dating January 30th and got married August 23rd the same year. As of TODAY it's been 22 years. Everyone is different.
Tristan, I just discovered your channel and have been binge watching all day. Just from my short exposure to your life (which I truly thank you for sharing), I have come to see a true satisfaction of one's life. It is amazing. Think of it...You are living the life that many, many of us mortals can only dream of... You are a ships "master"... A position or earned respect!!! (Be Very Proud of your Accomplishments). Maybe not where you planned... but thru the years you have earned every Gold Braid. I also hope you realize just how lucky you are to have found a beautiful, compatible, smart and loving partner for your life's adventures. Truly... you are blessed!!! I wish the both of you peace and happiness, I would love to be able to book a week of living out the fantasy of the blessed on the beautiful AWOL, but alas.. It is not to be. I will watch and enjoy thru you vlogs. Thanks, Captain!!! Much Respect. Salute!.
This is hilarious - I just caught your other video of you talking about turning down that "job" to move "product" to Belgium (good move) and I decided to check out your channel. Came here and realized you work on a boat I just grabbed a bunch of pictures of while I was in France last week. It was my first time in France and I rode a motorcycle around the coast for a couple days. Just a coincidence I saw your exact vessel. Anyway, awesome channel man. I was a deckhand before graduating college and kinda wish I had stuck with it ! Ever know anyone that has left the corporate world to enter the super yacht industry? I feel like it would be starting from scratch but assume a few people have done just this.
Hey Thank you for this great tour on the Super Yacht!!! Is great to have so many information and inputs from your time and live on AWOL. See you in the next video. Regards Mathias
The thing is, finding someone to stay out of your way when it's a bad day, cause ultimately, you are responsible for everybody that sets a foot on your yacht, including the owner, cause you are the captain. You're lucky to have found Giv and to have stayed together so long, but of course, she knows you well enough by now that there are good days and bad and when to stay low key or to speak up. Top marks for giving Barbara your masters cabin so you and Giv can have your own space.
+Super Yacht Captain, Only 9 minutes into this, and you guys are so loved up! Fantastic to see working relationships working so well. Brilliant congratulations and happy ever after to both of you.
I've always wondered about how good of an investment it would be for me to buy my own yacht and captain it myself and take charters. As Captain I would assume you have a pretty good idea of what kind of profits the yacte brings in considering the insurance, cost of crew, upkeep etc compared to the charter income. I'd be interested to know what the owners end up with over the life of the yacht.

You make a great couple and superb team for the owners. Thanks for sharing the video and hope you have good times together.
You both are lovely. Thanks for sharing such intimate topics. All success!
I’ve recently turned a corner mentally and feel a wave of ambition washing over me. I spend every morning having a coffee at Sanctuary Cove Marina, looking at the yachts and dreaming. I really want to enter the yacht space, as a crew member or in sales, and one day as an owner!
It takes two very special people to five in a tiny room on a crowded boat. Congratulations on finding two special people.
Thanks Tristan, great to understand your lifestyle. What a lovely couple
Relationship lessons 101! We all should have this attitude even in a 10,000sq/ft home! Wonderful!!!!!
It is really nice that the two of you can be together and share adventures.
“I save the ocean by using glass bottles” while burning 300 liters of fuel per hour
🤣😂🤣😂
I think modern diesel engines are quite clean, but correct me if I am wrong
@@cryptohouse1676 no fossil fuel is clean, even new biodiesel
@@cryptohouse1676 that’s great news
Not seeing each other side by side all th time I think is a plus. Good looking pair! Happy trails., Cheers!
Rock on!
A great insight to life aboard.
Thanks for sharing .
Thanks Steve
Great to see you too together. I didn’t know you were married and working with your wife!! So happy for you too. It’s rare that a captain gets to be with their spouse.
Just a couple. Not married.
Great video - thanks for answering my (and others) questions about life on AWOL
Thank you for watching :))))
It looks like you guys were destined to live forever together 😇 Enjoy life and take care 😎 ✌️
Ah bless.. thank you for a really insightful video, and well done for making it work for several years! That yacht is full of nooks and crannies!
Thanks for sharing a little bit of your private life. You seem to be a great couple and very much in love.
You are a lucky and richly-blessed man, Tristan. Between your job and your lovely lady, you seem to have the best of all worlds.
Wow you guys that is pretty shocking. You might as well be on the space station, but I guess that would be less stress. Thank you for sharing.
Award winning chef here..only doing private yacht work now.
Hats off to you! Chartering is THE toughest program. Really enjoying your channel.
Hi Mark, thank you for the advice, its well noted. All the best
Love the couples video. It’s about time. Pleas mic Giverny as she is so soft spoken it’s hard to hear. Great vid!
you 2 are a lovely couple.. you are in charge of the ship. but she makes sure everyone is taken care of.. she is the queen of the vessel.. and it helps tremendously that the owner is ultra cool.. it takes you 2 and the owner to have a great experience.. and its obvious you all do that very well
That’s a beautiful relationship you’ve got! Nice!
It truly is A Way Of Life. If I was a yacht owner, I'd be tempted to have 2 of each crew, 2 captains, engineers and so on. So crew can have family time.
your a lucky man to have such a pretty and charming lady. so why after 8 years, isn't there a ring on her finger
It takes time trust me my sister has been with her boyfriend since 2005
cuznjo1 some people just don’t believe in marriage if they’re in love then they’re in love
@@isaiahwilleford4618 My wife and I started dating January 30th and got married August 23rd the same year. As of TODAY it's been 22 years. Everyone is different.
@@josefyoung3245 i lived with a girl for 10 years, and never bought her a ring, or married her lol
Truth is … its none of our business is it?
Dude, you're much more fun than I initially thought!
Hey
Thank you for this great tour on the Super Yacht!!! Is great to have so many information and inputs from your time and live on AWOL.
See you in the next video.
Regards Mathias
Thanks for the support Mathias
Lucky couple. Living what they love, and alway close to each.
Your reaction to the fruit 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you for sharing and props on conserving plastic!!!! 👍💯🍻
Captain to chief officer: you want the captains cabin?
Chief officer suspiciously: ummmmm..... yes?
Jelliot Williams 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
+Super Yacht Captain,
Only 9 minutes into this, and you guys are so loved up!
