No doubt. You talked about 5 mechanical things. I second that you need guts to strap into a 410. Most exciting race cars on the planet and I appreciate every one you guys and gals that do it for my entertainment. Even the ones I don't root for. Keep up the good work Billy. Love the channel.
Yeah I learned my lesson early on about buying used parts. I bought a used steering box from one of Williams Grove top drivers and he told me it was good, it was a piece of garbage. I couldn't figure out why my car was so bad till I put another driver in and he asked me how I drove this thing with this box. I sent it back to Nickel Brothers.. By the time I fixed what was wrong with it I could have bought a brand new box. From that point on I bought parts from somebody I knew really well or I bought new.. Craig Keel did our engines. He and his Dad were Class Acts. Great video.
I could be wrong but I also think a big thing in racing especially when you get to the big classes like the 410s is money in general. Building a car is expensive and you need some sort of financial stability to get into racing. A good sponsorship is always a plus

He said in the video there are people with lots of money. But they don't spend it wisely. On multiple cars and parts but not on the motor.

What’s your thoughts on starting out in a sprint car 360s? I raced motorcycles my whole life go karts, built a asphalt stock cars I have Always just wanted to drive a sprint car 😂

Love the content billy! I've watched Sprint car since 1977 the good old days of hanging your legs out over the bridge at Williams Grove and yes I've done that! Lol! Lynn Paxton to Keith Kaufman all time favorites! Don't miss too many races on the hill at the grove! I hope to see you guys more there this year keep up the good work!

I've seen local racers try to run OK affordable engines. They end up putting more money in repairs as to buying a Good engine.

That’s really cool what they are doing.
The cost of any racing is high. Then you go 410 racing it's insane.
Not so sure about the motor part. That kinda depends on the track you plan to run TBH. At a place like Lincoln particularly in the hottest part of the summer everybody is pulling power out of the motor just to get it to hook. Now reliable power you’re ABSOLUTELY right on. I’d say figure out actually what your doing with the chassis before worrying about every last pony.
I would personally swap chassis and motor.
Very good points. During time trials if you don’t time good your night is kinda over. Feature time definitely pulling power.

Hey well bill it's Troy your number one RUclips fan I'd have to say something else that's important and doesn't cost you a thing....... Common sense it doesn't matter how much money you have and how new your appointment is if you go out and we won't mention any names but if you go out and think my dad has enough money oopps, sorry, I mean my team has enough money so if I drive like an idiot, reckless no one's going to respect you and worse you'll end up hurting yourself and somebody else, guys like you put the time in work your butt off for every piece of equipment you have those are the gods that in my opinion have the most common sense there's guys and there's a certain one that comes to mind right away that aren't racing anymore but when they were younger every time they would cause an accident because they had Rich parents in their daddy would come running out every time there son would cause an accident and it was always somebody else's fault there's a reason those kind get relieved of their driving duties when they go to a team outside the protection of their family's money I'm sorry strike that paragraph not trying to single anybody out but you know what I mean.

How does one aquire one of these said motors. At 50 grand a peice your average person don't have that laying around.
You can get a good motor for less than that. But you can also spend more than that .
you can also rent a motor a lot of well to do teams will rent an extra motor if they have it at the time
I was just refering to the top of the line names like Kistler and Don ott and rider Newman's. Sure they are upwards of 50k and I've seen a few on Facebook for way less. But people are still asking an arm and a leg. I have a 360 sprint car and I don't have no where near that in my motor. I would love to get a 410 and run. Maybe one day. But thanks for the videos man. I totally get the reason everyone has to run a Hoosier tire. It's obviously a deal with Hoosier, the sanctioning bodies, and track promoters. Back in the 80's and 90's we ran what we wanted. I ran McCreary's in the spring, {Dad actually met Mrs. McCreary in the aviation business we had} and Goodyear's as the season progressed. Lias Tire worked with us drivers with the McCreary and treated me well. Goodyear had many outlets for getting their tires and the dealers would also work with us. Hell, at the time even Firestone had tires available to us that they were using on the CRA circuit in California that we could get if we wanted to try them? I can't help but think that the monopoly Hoosier has doesn't have anything to do with the outrageous cost of tires? American Racer is basically McCreary I'm told? But where can you run them other than non sanctioned, or limited shows like Clinton County? The only thing you didn't address in this video was "how to determine the most effective beer for after the race"? You and I know that one!!!
