That X5 is in "tow" mode. It has an e shifter and to get it out of tow mode you just lift the trim of the lever and push the button there
Yes my handicapped cousin died three years ago and he used to own a cougar just like that so yes i would love to see it get another lease on life.

Getting tires, battery, and a key won't leave much for profit, but the car is beautiful and should be saved.

strange that x5 didn't start since 30d and 35d from this era are usually extremly reliable (electonics apart)
If it’s a diesel the oil will always be black I have one of these oil goes black immediately after I change it

The X5 is most likely a sensor issue. Maintenance is the key to BMW reliability. I've had 4 and hardly ever had problems. If you don't go to the stealership, parts are not that expensive.
Randy you have to let the glow plugs heat up on the X5 first!

I second that it looks to be in good shape low mileage nothing wrong with it not much reason to really be there just needs a couple plastic bits replaced and new tires that's all I see needing to be done

The X5 has my vote, it’s a diesel. It probably has a fuel pressure problem (fuel filter clogged) or the carbon build up issue on the egr and intake.
The Fit seems like it could be a good deal not sure how many people drive a manual so you could have it a while before it sells.
Nice Sport package Diesel X5. I bet it has DPF issues

Oil in a diesel goes dark after about 200 miles and turns black after a thousand miles or so. But it's still good most require synthetic.
yeah, snag the Cougar. That black trim on the bumper is easy to mask off and respray with a spray bomb. The car should clean up well. It looks like older person may have owned it and passed away, so it sat.
I really hope you can buy the Cougar, Randy. I think it'll clean up really nice.
I really like that Honda Fit, too. I can't imagine too many of those are out in the wild with a manual transmission. I love that this one has one.

Had a UK Ford ‘98 Cougar years ago.. looked completely different to that one. It was a coupe with a 2.5L Duratec V6.. Don’t see them on the road anymore, most have gone to the big scrap yard in the sky..
Honda passwords are usually on the bottom of the ashtray or the glovebox. Usually 4 digits.
Friend of mine had a Cougar with a 5.0 and a 5 speed from the factory. Blast to drive.

The X5 has neutral Key located where the spare tire it red in color you remove the cover from the cup holder and turn the key to remove the cover then you use the ignition key in the fob to unlock and pull the cylinder one remove you put the red key back in and turn it which will put it in neutral or get it out of neutral. could be the reason why it wont stay on if its set to neutral

On the Genesis, the small x at the dog leg is for when the pics are taken for insurance companies. It helps highlight damage or in this case the rock chip guard that will need to be replaced when the quarter panel is painted

I've bought and sold over 20 of the BMW X3 and X5's to be honest Ive not had any problems except the throttle body on an X5 it would start and run and then cut off so I changed it and it was fine just watch for the normal BMW problems

A trick i learned from a tow truck driver.on the BMW theres a reset pen hole on the side or under the shifter knob.

The x5 (get it It's a diesel!!!)To me it looks like an immobilizer or key recognition issue it starts runs great and then it shuts off could be a very easy fix...

I’m not a Honda fan but I did like that fit.
That chrome trim on the wheel wells and flanks on the Cougar is dealer aftermarket as well as the vinyl top. Extra mark up for the wire wheels and white walls crowd.
Consider the possibility of bad head gaskets on the V6 as well. Notorious for giving out. Look for signs in the oil and coolant.
Fire away. Too nice to junk.
Id say the x5 is worth it because evenn if it wont run.. you could always spares it and sell as much as you can off it and recoup some cash💯💯

The BMW may well be primarily a voltage issue, your booster was only showing 6 volts when you took it off. That's not say that it might still be an expensive parts car. That Hyundai isn't that bad if the wheel well still holds water😂 it's had a front tap as the bumper is missing the filler between the grill and the passenger headlight.
The Honda looks like a good buy, few bits of trim and a scrub inside and out... Bish, bash, bosh👍

The Cougar would be worth the purchase if it runs........ Even if not, depending on what it sells for, you won't stand to lose much. Like you said before..... It's like taking a shot in the dark
Bmw oil is looking normal for a diesel,the cutting out issue seems like a fuel delivery problem,could be a number of things -pump,leaky injectors,pressure sensor,needs to be plugged in to know for sure,not a bad looking car otherwise.

Buy the cougar I suggest going to a locksmith for the key the dealer drops the codes off after 10 years so they will want to replace everything and it will cost a locksmith should have no problem making a key for it

Irs a ford priduct initiaaly. It aint gonna be the same key as the door that fits the ignition. There should be a square key for the ignition amd a round one for the trunk amd the doors

On the BMW, if it was shut off while in sport shift mode, it won't go into park until you move it out of sport shift mode. Can't remember if it goes left or right and don't ask me how I know that.
