Don't be harsh on yourself - learning and experimentation is totally a thing💜 but also... you're showing what you're doing clearly, the way you're talking through your steps and thoughts are clear... you're doing really great hunn!
Thrilled to see you making a start on nail vids, James! 🤩 We’ll be learning with you too, so don’t sweat the small stuff 💪🏻 Would love to see you doing your natural nail overlays - I think that’s what we usually see on you in your skincare vids? I know it’s less nail to decorate, but it’s what you know, and I’ve always been curious to see what designs you’ve had on them! I wear overlays instead of extensions too, and there aren’t as many nailtubers showing natural nails, so would love to see it ☺️
16 years experience as a nail tech here and I've just got to say, you're doing an amazing job! Also, if you put the 'ruined' brush into boiling water and then reshape and allow it to dry, the bristles should be in the shape you dry them in. I've fixed a couple of brushes this way.
I am a mother to a 10 year-old boy who loves everything creative. This week I found out he has been painting his nails with a black marker pen, so I just got him his first nail kit! I always find your nail polish choices so tasteful. I hope I can use your content as a reference to help him to start his own journey.
I love that you started this channel while your learning, that way everyone can learn with you! Reminder to everyone: don't be afraid because you're not an expert, you become one with practice!
I wish I found this Chanel from day one but then again I get to have a good hours long binge watch while I do my own nails also started in lockdown so I have great ride catching up!
Great job James! The nails turned out beautiful. I would wear them. Tip for the Stars, don’t be afraid of sending those lines in directions other than N,S,E,& W Stars sparkle in all directions. It will create more interest in your art.
YOU DID AMAZING!! Tip#1= use a liner brush to apply the Gel Polish close to the cuticle area. Tip #2= You can use a small container (any shape or form) to raise the hand from the table, it makes it much easier to apply the Gel Polish etc. Hope this helps.
For the stars, your technique with the dot first and then pulling out from the centre was spot on. My advice would be to use a dotting tool for the dot, and then without putting much gel on the brush (basically put a tiny bit on and then wipe most of it off onto the pallette) and then use a very light hand and barely touch the brush to the dot, then pull out to do the line. With a little bit of practice, you'll get it figured out 😊
@@neophytenails you can get a nail brush set with all sorts of different types of brushes and that comes with dotting tools for pretty cheap. They were originally just for crafting now I want to use them on nails and for make up too 😅 lol.
As a regular nail lacquer user…. The amount of times I was internally panicking before remembering you’re using gel polish which stays wet until cured and once cured is perfectly dry. 😂 my heart Such cool nail art and I love the magnetic done in this aura style. I think zooming in closer to your nail would be good; so only 1-3 nails are visible at a time or if all 4 nails then from the second knuckle up. Excited for this channel.
Ahhhh haha no that’s exactly why I moved on from lacquer because I needed time to play! I’d screw up everytime 😂😂 yeah I will zoom in for sure next time! I need to get a better camera because the more I zoomed in the more trouble it had focusing! Honestly my phone did a better job 😅
i’m also an amateur and a few things that help me are getting like a small uv lamp to flash cure small bits when ur painting so they don’t move around when u go back to paint again, dotting tools help a lot too and if you want the stars to look more stuck out then you could use a small line brush and just trace the stars with a different finish of top coat, and you can use nail tips to practice doing nail art, i attach them to pencils with kneaded eraser
I just found your nail channel and I’m about to binge all your videos I’m so excited! You did great painting! One tip for painting designs like the stars is to paint over a matte surface, it’s a small detail that will make ALL the difference, especially as you try more complex nail art. Hope this helps! 😮
this is my 4th or 5th video of yours i’ve watched and i feel so connected to you i’m also nursing my nails from some damage of not doing gel properly and i’m grateful for ur knowledge and how real you are ! the creating process is exactly how i am and it’s nice to see the mistakes and different tools to create the vision. thank u for guiding me in the right direction ! i can’t wait to learn with you 💖💖
I'm screaming!!! WHATTTTT. I've been doing my own nails since 2013. Went to nail school twice and couldn't afford the final exam either time. I am stokedddd. People always need to remember, everyone starts somewhere. I am also allergic to the allergens in gel polish!! These turned out incredibly well. Way to goooo
Omg! I was shook to see you doing......nails???!!! I literally LOVE watching you and your brother equally and the channel you share with him. Literally crying laughing most of the time because y'all remind me of me and my sis. But now nails? You're just like the rest of us nail junkies! I've always noticed your nails in videos and wondered. 🤣 welcome to our nail community!! We love you already.
Love this channel, and that you are so open about that you are learning still!! I have a tip for the black polish: when you are using it as a base, as you are in this, don't go all the way down the the cuticle. Leave a bit of room so the green, or whatever you are putting over it, completely covers it 😊 So excited for future videos!
How did this only show up in my recommendeds just now?! So excited to see what you do with this channel and your nails!! Couple of recommendations: try using a detail brush to get polish close to your cuticles, makes all the difference especially when using dark colors. My absolute favorite blooming gel is from Wildflowers Nails. They were one of the first companies to come out with it and it's perfect, not super thick but still blooms beatifully. No other one I've tried has been as good. They are a US company, so that kinda sucks for you, but they do have a massive selection of loose glitters and pigments and other products that could make it worth paying the shipping. And finally, I have to point you towards a gel nail tech that I love to watch here on RUclips, Miss Jo's Nail Co. She does pretty much exclusively gel polish designs that are attainable for normal people AND she's super funny!
This looks amazing James! Can’t believe it’s a first attempt at that nail art, looks incredible. One tip I’d have is when you’re painting on the clear coat, you don’t need so many swipes, it will settle on its own and you’ll have less brush strokes 😊
Omg this is SO fun! I really like the relatablness of watching you learn. Like doing your nails with your bff at a slumber party. I love nail content but it’s fun watching someone do them that hasn’t been for many years and is still learning. ❤️
They turned out sooo good!! I’ve been waiting for this channel!! I’m a big fan of simplynailogical and NCE, and now that my favorite skinfluencer is doing it, I couldn’t be more excited! 🎉🎉
James, I love watching you do nails. I think they're impressive even if you do consider yourself a neophyte! I watch these when I do my own nails and it feels like I'm just hanging with my more-talented and chill bestie LOL! Thank you for starting this channel.
So happy to see you growing with a new channel! You did great, don't be hard on yourself! And that's exactly how you draw stars:dot, whisp of the lines from the centre of it, watch Miss Jo's Nails, she's an expert on stars!!
I am obsessed with this!! This is my dream come true!! I'm a huge nail artist and also watch ALL the nail channels...and I am fan of you & Robert's for soooo long now! This is the marriage of 2 things I love so much!!
It is so relaxing actually to see you having trouble getting the results that you want! It reminds me that if I want anything I have to be willing to accept the "draft" versions as well :) For what it's worth I think it turned out grand!
Yay!! I’m so excited for this channel. I also do my own nails. Been doing them for about 5 years now. I started because I love doing gel polish, because my nails grow fast but they are very thin. They break and chip easily when they are “naked”. But getting a gel salon manicure got too expensive for me to keep up, so I decided to invest in my own nails “gear” and now it’s something I enjoyed doing. I always say, “some people like to knit, I like to do my nails.”😁💅🏼
I just love listening to your voice and doing things I have no clue of. I am wearing my nails short and mostly unpolished. But I love the design and your way of doing it.
I’m so excited to have more nail content available! I love your main and the twin channel! My boyfriend and I were scrolling to find something to watch and this popped up on my home page and he recognized you in the thumbnail and pointed it out, my jaw dropped and I thought no way! It’s gotta be a collab or just some sort of nail RUclipsr that does commentary videos as well that did a story on you? Then we clicked and it was you!! I’m gagged! So happy to start watching your journey! ❤❤❤
Love watching this channels nail journey that Dosnt take out all the mistakes and re dos, and seeing you get better, I have not found another channel on RUclips that does this so far and I am subbed to a lot of nail channels over the years your Chanel is super relaxing and fun to watch, I like you have a little laugh and have those redos its real! Please don’t edit all that out in the future!
I'm a cosmetologist but went on to do hair BUT i swear by RUclips with a good amount of information for the makeup and nails. So many super experienced nail techs and MUA's come on here wanting to educate about their craft and I absolutely love it and I soak it up . Not saying i don't think the same for hair but I've got a lot more experience with hair than I do with the other two sides of cosmetology. So in this respect I feel a bit like you lol I like to learn on RUclips and experiment and have fun with it! I'm so glad you started this channel ^.^ how fun and inadvertently educational.
Fantastic job!! They looked great :) A couple of ways to save on bulkiness: swap out your nail glue to a softer hard gel *like traditional gel(, instead of the hard putty gel; buffing your nails after each clear coat will also reduce your bulk & keep your clean lines of the nail clean & sharp. Premixing your blooming gel (or base coat) with your black gel on your palette can also save you a layer of gel, because you're only painting on what you need, not the whole nail. Your nail will even out at the end, if you have a good top coat, or you buff the layers as you go. :) Great work on the recreation. Also, thank you so much for making it clear you're a DIYer. :)
I did my own gel nails in lockdown but it’s sooooo hard! Kudos to you for doing this! I sold my lamp and accessories because I got so frustrated 😅 I’m very impatient so I admire your dedication!
These turned out so well!! ✨💕 Also, not a professional, but I’ve been painting tiny nail art for ages, so I have plenty of tips! Regular, acrylic craft paint is another great alternative to gel for nail art. While gel can be a bit more forgiving, acrylic paint is also super easy to work with. Plus, you can find it in any art store (and often in dollar stores, etc.) and it’s much cheaper than gel. Rubbing alcohol/isopropyl alcohol/surgical spirit (or even a high-proof drinking alcohol) can be used to fix mistakes you make when painting with gel and acrylic. I often get asked what brushes I use/where I buy my brushes, and the answer is whatever the tiniest brush is at the art/craft store! Paint brushes at art stores are usually about half the price of actual nail art brushes (if not cheaper), and there are usually some extra tiny ones (the smallest sizes tend to be 0000, 20/0, and 18/0). If you don’t want to paint nail art directly on your nails, or want to paint nail art on your non-dominant hand, you can DIY nail stickers by painting on a plastic baggy/sandwich bag or similar material (there are reusable options). For more detailed designs, just make sure you have a layer of clear gel or polish over it as well so that the design peels off properly. Then apply your top coat of choice to your nail, and put the “sticker” on. I’ve done this with acrylic paint, regular nail polish, and gel polish, and all have peeled off the plastic with no issues. Line work is always harder to make look perfect. Even after years of painting nail art, I still hate line work haha. More organic shapes tend to be easier to paint, especially since they’re not meant to be perfect. It’s the reason I tend to paint animals, people, or nature scenes on my nails, rather than basically anything with a straight line. Finally, as cliché as it sounds, practice and be patient. Can't wait to see more nail art vids! 😊
You did an amazing job!! I’m also doing amateur nails. I’ve been doing gel since lockdown and over the last year I’ve gotten really into nail art! I thought I wasn’t an artist either but my skills have definitely improved over time. Love these videos!! ♥️♥️
Don’t be so hard on yourself about the little stars. There were a few that would’ve looked great once you finished the nails. I really enjoyed watching you do them. Takes me back to when I first started doing mine 😃 such a cute set!
James, i think you did an amazing job at your nails and i so want to see more of these videos. Please do more , and i found it quite peaceful. Thank you for this and i so look more to these nail videos. 💅 love ya 😘 🖤💜🖤
I am so happy that I came across your RUclips channel. I follow many of them and someone new is for me like someting new and fresh. I am planning to start my but also still learning about editing and other stuff. You are different then others. And you have my big support.
If you're struggling with the cuticle area and making a "mess" try using a nail art liner brush around that area instead of the brush from the bottle. Can't wait to see all the designs you come up with x
OMG I'm so impressed! They look incredible, I love how the green looks like jewelly pebbles on your nails!🤩 So fun and I thought the quality was really good. Can't wait for the next one. So pleased for you
Omg this is going to be amazing! I qualified as a nail tech in 2021. I'm still learning new techniques all the time. I love doing nails it's such a stress relief. Uou done amazing 👏
I do my nails every week but never anything this cool!! This was so relaxing to watch and I learned so much, I've always wanted to try some of that magnetic polish and it was super interesting to see it in action. I will definitely be trying some now ☺
James! I am sooo happy you created this channel!! I am too an amateur but farther behind you. I love how your video was you not really knowing what the pro did but putting your own twist on it and that you kept in your own learning process. It helps me feel not so much like a failure. I absolutely adore the way it came out. This is encouraging me to bring back out my nail kit and get back into doing my own nails. 🖤💚
Hi, just bumped into your channel & I really like the way that you narrate all the steps & just presume that we're all experts. I think the majority of viewers aren't professional. Me personally I can go through a whole bottle of nail polish remover before I'm satisfied that I can show my nails in public. I have such short nails & they brake if I so much as look at them in the wrong direction ... LOL Anyway, it's nice to know that someone out there can take mistakes and actually publish them, not go away, do a bit of photo shopping, so they are perfect, so that when I try to recreate something that I've seen, I'm genuinely heart broken because mine have come out a massive error, so which I'll just take the lot off & go out with bare nails. Keep up the good work & I'll pop by soon. Hugz Ax
Wow, to be new to the dyi nails, u r killing it!!! These look amazing! I couldn't pull it off at all. U figuring it out and learning as u go is also impressive. Love this other channel u got here, James.
Love outcome! Wee pro tip dotting tools ahaha! Or clean /wipe gel off your brush before dragging it thought the dot for the stars to keep the points nice and thin and even. These were great!x
James doing nail stuff? Yes, please! I’ve been doing my own polygel extensions for almost 10 years now. A tip I learned a long time ago was to have use a stiff, short brush(I use an old elf concealer brush) to clean up around my cuticles-mix 70 and 90 isopropyl alcohol, dip the stubby brush in, clean up your messes, wipe on paper towel, and repeat. I have one for doing my extensions and gel polish when I use it, and I have another I use for regular polish. 2 channels I love for nail things, if you’re not already subscribed to them, are Kelly Marissa and Nail Career Education. Kelly has all the swatches and reviews, and NCE has educational videos from a pro along with reviews.
I love nail videos, more please!! 🖤 I REALLY can’t draw or do anything artistic but I do my own nails and so far any designs i’ve tried have turned out well! I think the key is to focus and reeeally take your time.
Ok first. Im such a huge fan of yours and your 2 brothers!! And 2nd..what a treat to find out that you also do nails..which is also my first love ❤ and 3rd...jello jello peel off gel is AMAZING❤
This video showed up at the perfect moment, I’m about to try a magnetic cat eye nail gel and the kit didn’t come with instructions. It helped me feel less intimidated to try it out 😊 thank you James❤ 💅
hey james!! here are some tips for you! - if you want the jello jello base to last longer you can just add it in the center of the nail bed and add a normal base coat on top of it. - you can create some really fun watercolor designs by drawing with permanent markers (on top of a white nail that has snuffed top coat) and blending it with acetone. - try your nail art on press ons and then apply them to yourself, this is perfect if you struggle with nail art.
Heyyyyy! Thanks for the tips!!! Yessss I do that with the jello jello most of the time but I change my designs pretty much every week 😅 Ahhhhh that’s such a good idea! I actually have some inks arriving soon too!
I was so excited to see you create a nail channel! I don't use gel but I do paint my nails with lacquer. I'm horrible at nail art so I do stamping instead. I do hear they make gel polish for stamping but since I've never used it I don't have a recommendation. I do know that people who do gel can stamp with stamping polish and topcoat over that will gel just fine once the art dries.
yaaaay! so glad to see you've started a nail journey channel! 🥳 one'a my 2023 nail art goals is to get better at freehand work. i uploaded my first "attempt" lol a few days ago: frenchies & ribbons. it kinda *is* just basic linework, but it was pretty simple. i def recommend startin there, with somethin easy. great job, james! can't wait to follow along with your progress! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love this & I love you! I’m so happy to see you branching out & sharing this hobby with us! I also really needed this tonight. I was having a truly terrible stressful night, but your video (& the copyright free music) made it so much better. Thank you! 🖤💜🖤
I'm so excited that you started this channel and are sharing your journey! When I heard you were preparing to start this channel, I've been patiently waiting for your videos to come out! The nails came out so beautiful!! (I've been thinking of getting into gels, so I shall learn from and with you!) 💜💜
Such a TREAT watching you recreate my design!!! 💗💗💗 you did a great job!! Can’t wait to see more vids!!! 😘
Thank youuuuu! Love your work so much! 💜💜
I love your kuromi nails!
This nail design is one of my top favorites 💅💅💅❤❤❤
Between you and Robert we really have it all. Skincare, makeup, sometimes hair, and nails!
Also Marcus.
Learning a lot about camera angles and how to edit these videos! So I do apologise for the quality but it will get better! 💜
Don't be harsh on yourself - learning and experimentation is totally a thing💜 but also... you're showing what you're doing clearly, the way you're talking through your steps and thoughts are clear... you're doing really great hunn!
Thrilled to see you making a start on nail vids, James! 🤩 We’ll be learning with you too, so don’t sweat the small stuff 💪🏻
Would love to see you doing your natural nail overlays - I think that’s what we usually see on you in your skincare vids? I know it’s less nail to decorate, but it’s what you know, and I’ve always been curious to see what designs you’ve had on them! I wear overlays instead of extensions too, and there aren’t as many nailtubers showing natural nails, so would love to see it ☺️
Filming nails is hardddd lol. I also get really close to my face if I'm not filming.
This is plenty nice, you did a good job!
Doing great boo, nice to see you branch out!

I am so here for nail content!!! The end result is beautiful 😍😍
Ahhhhhhh thanks Soph!!!! Any tips you have would be great cos your nails are always 🔥
"Fine, I don't like that one but fine" , "that looks like crap but I'm gonna carry on" LOL such a mood!
Watching the green cat eye polish change was so satisfying!! And so pretty too!
I wish it showed up better on camera! It’s so pretty
Great job James! The nails turned out beautiful. I would wear them. Tip for the Stars, don’t be afraid of sending those lines in directions other than N,S,E,& W Stars sparkle in all directions. It will create more interest in your art.

Yay this is so fun!! I saw that Simplynailogical puts her finger over the magnet, not vice versa - this has helped for me! :D
Thankksss! I actually tried this and I couldn’t get it to work?! Honestly I’m a mess with these magnets! 😂

This is one of my favorite nail designs. And you did VERY well with re-creating it. 👏👏👏
James I would watch you laying bricks, painting walls, really just about anything! I just love you and your content!❤
You are doing great. I have been a nail artist for 16 years. The best piece of advice I can give you, don’t be so hard on yourself. Art is subjective.
They look perfect! Why are you being so hard on yourself? You've got a real talent for this!😀👍🏻❤️
Love this channel, and that you are so open about that you are learning still!! Well done James! I have been a licensed nail tech for over 20 years now and you did a great job! If you ever have any questions just shout.
This looks amazing James! Can’t believe it’s a first attempt at that nail art, looks incredible. One tip I’d have is when you’re painting on the clear coat, you don’t need so many swipes, it will settle on its own and you’ll have less brush strokes 😊

James, I love watching you do nails. I think they're impressive even if you do consider yourself a neophyte!
I watch these when I do my own nails and it feels like I'm just hanging with my more-talented and chill bestie LOL! Thank you for starting this channel.

I absolutely love your skin care channel and I can’t believe I have only just seen you have a nail channel! 😱😱 love it! ❤️
Also, not a professional, but I’ve been painting tiny nail art for ages, so I have plenty of tips!
UV protection glubs! I started attempting to do my own gel nails a few months ago and am hooked. Shine on!
The Welsh Twins are the triple threat!!!🙌🏻💅🏼
Please make more videos trying designs you see on social media, i loved itttt
I am so happy that I came across your RUclips channel. I follow many of them and someone new is for me like someting new and fresh. I am planning to start my but also still learning about editing and other stuff.
You are different then others. And you have my big support.
I have been doing nails for 10+ years and this is GOOD 👏🏼👏🏼 Keep going 👍🏼💕
Thank you!!’
YASSS. I love that you’re doing nails on here omg. ThANK YOU JAMES❤
Oh, it looks fantastic. Great job, Jas!
Great work James. I have been hoping you would share some of your nails with us. Looking forward to what you do next 😊
Well this was fun! I love nail art. Sadly as a nurse I can't have nails anymore but I live my nail fantasy through watching other people 😂
Hi, just bumped into your channel & I really like the way that you narrate all the steps & just presume that we're all experts. I think the majority of viewers aren't professional.
Me personally I can go through a whole bottle of nail polish remover before I'm satisfied that I can show my nails in public. I have such short nails & they brake if I so much as look at them in the wrong direction ... LOL
Anyway, it's nice to know that someone out there can take mistakes and actually publish them, not go away, do a bit of photo shopping, so they are perfect, so that when I try to recreate something that I've seen, I'm genuinely heart broken because mine have come out a massive error, so which I'll just take the lot off & go out with bare nails.
Keep up the good work & I'll pop by soon. Hugz Ax
Wow, to be new to the dyi nails, u r killing it!!! These look amazing! I couldn't pull it off at all. U figuring it out and learning as u go is also impressive. Love this other channel u got here, James.
Fantastic results at the end. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us.💖💖💖💖
This is so cool!! We love a cool and calm nail video💜😌💅🏼
Glad you liked it 🥹
YAY! I'm so glad to see this - because I've started getting into nails recently myself. This is so exciting!
Love outcome! Wee pro tip dotting tools ahaha! Or clean /wipe gel off your brush before dragging it thought the dot for the stars to keep the points nice and thin and even. These were great!x
Very cool, enjoyed watching the nails. Please more!
Ahhhh that’s a good idea!! Thanks for sharing! Yes I watch both! Learnt some amazing basics from Suzie 🥹😍
That's so creative and amazing!! Thanks for introducing me to these products and process!! Much appreciated 💚💋
I love nail videos, more please!! 🖤 I REALLY can’t draw or do anything artistic but I do my own nails and so far any designs i’ve tried have turned out well! I think the key is to focus and reeeally
take your time.
Dotting tools are awesome and come in a bunch of different sizes. They make it so much easier!
omg I stumbled upon this video and saw you in the thumbnail and thought someone used you for clickbait!! I am SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS
James you did such a great job!!! It came out so pretty and I actually love the length and shape on you! ❤
Ok first. Im such a huge fan of yours and your 2 brothers!! And 2nd..what a treat to find out that you also do nails..which is also my first love ❤ and 3rd...jello jello peel off gel is AMAZING❤

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love it! You did great! Please do more of these! Love you!
This video showed up at the perfect moment, I’m about to try a magnetic cat eye nail gel and the kit didn’t come with instructions. It helped me feel less intimidated to try it out 😊 thank you James❤ 💅
Yessss, I'm so glad you're making nail content! Thanks for sharing, James! I'm excited to see what else you have in store. 😊
Oh yesss, as nail freak, I'm so here for this! I also tend toward Korean and Japanese nail art ♥️ honestly I think these turned out beautifully!
When you mentioned this on our main channel I was waiting for the algorithm to send me this and today was the day 🎉🎉
I’ve been thinking of learning to do my own gel nails lately, so this is great timing! Excited for more 👍🏽
hey james!! here are some tips for you!
Yessss I do that with the jello jello most of the time but I change my designs pretty much every week 😅
Ahhhhh that’s such a good idea! I actually have some inks arriving soon too!
Honestly I can’t even tell that you’re still unsure of the camera angles etc because it felt like a hangout ❤
Love the creativity of the new channel name! 🤗🫶🏻
Those nails look beautiful, James! I can’t wait to see what you create next! 💓💜💓💜💓💜
That was very relaxing and fun to watch. I think you did an amazing job!
