Feels more like an intro into a really raw mixtape from the 90s than a DMC set. Plus the fact you did it in one take proves you've got hella skills. I hope the judges are feelin it.
No doubt this cat worked hard on his set, but honestly its cheating to what a vinyl dj has to go through.I get it,things evolve, but a true DJ executes with vinyl imo.
I dont deny it takes skill to do what hes doing lots of skill but all vynil in my opinion is much more difficult and shows skills on a level that samples at the touch if a button can't
Why so it can sound less on point & faded at the parts that were scratched 10,000 times? It sounds more interesting now! Doubling & scratching requires the same amount of skill even on control vinyl. The only difference is you can trigger the next beat or sound opposed to trying to pick up the next vinyl and drop it on the mark. Oldschool dj's marked their wax with round tape. Newschool scratch dj's hit trigger buttons. Even Qbert uses control vinyl now! ~Evolve~
one of my favorites right now, his kutz are insane and his juggles on point, having constructive criticism is cool but if you gonna trash talk, i say you test him first JS!!!
no offense at all, i know how hard these things are to set up, but i wasn't feeling it. to me, something like i.emerge's routine from 2004 is what blows my mind. just his aggressive stance and nature alone wow'd me. for a champ, im expecting something new and cutting edge and a climax to the routine. it should be like a proper novel with a great intro, climax and ending. the technicality is there for sure, but i think a lot more could be done.
No disrespect to the skills, But would you say that this is just one edited continous track with the beat juggling sort of like becoming the icing on the routine?
i.emerge? He played a big part in ending the golden age of DJ battles. A lot of people are tricked by that fast, aggressive style that he had. This guy is just as good as, if not better than i.emerge.
@@j-boogiebrown9961 you might as well say he is better than Roc Raida's winning set from 1996 because all he did was body tricks...idk what in the world you're going on about. a lot of people aren't "tricked". dmc championships isn't just about playing music, if that were the case everyone could just press a button and let the computer do the work because pretty much thats whats going on now. its about how you present yourself, your style, your attitude, your style of music and what you put together. theres a reason champs are champs....
I battled between '98 and '03, and I believe i.emerge took a lot of the funk out of DJ battles,, paving the way for the custom record DJs, who just went crazy with speed and aggression. Also i.emerge and the others after him never really created anything new, like the Allies and the Scratch Perverts had been doing before them.
😭😭😭same technique over and over? He packed a fair bit of variety in his juggle break downs from technique to keeping it moving from one track to the bext for a 6 min routine. Plus i wouldnt say tgey were incoherent theres been DMC winning routines that are more incoherent than this one IZO winning about 10 years ago comes to mind. P.s im not his mate or crew.

Seriously dude? Show me ANYONE who's won or placed in DMC in the past 5 years who's done anything with individual records. But why stop there? We should make them use belt drive turntables and Pyramid mixers while we're at it - that's REALLY keeping it real!

I looove that style. Clean , old school, and methodic .

the final cut was the deepest. “only one can win!”
i wish DMC would do vinyl only again no digital
Agreed, not the same on digital!
Yeah man it’s trash

Miss me with that bullshish
incoherent juggles, timecode discs, same technique over and over.. this is what the DMC's have come to
I get the juggling part but at some point you have to agree that DVS makes life for a DJ so much easier
