Anybody with a pair of eyes in their head and a decent set of ears would be able to put together how dedicated you guys are to your craft and realize how talented the two of you are. I've been watching DJ Brace since the early 90s and the guy's name is synonymous with turntablism. Real vinyl shit. Vekked, I've been seeing you for a minute now too and I just have to say that dvs or whatever, the Fresherthans are fuckin Dope! It's obvious you guys could go back 20 years in time and rock the old school vestax all the same.
I still haven't heard anyone else playing their scratch like an instrument like these 2 do. This is pure turntablism, if you watch Brace you'll see him manually nudging and slowing the turntable to affect the pitch making it sound like a progression and not just a steady tone, its amazing to watch TBH.
The particular thing about this routine that's truly amazing isn't even the mastery of the technique or the complexity of the routine...it's the fact that these guys sound seamless together. Many groups spin out there and the routines are spectacular but they are not entirely smooth. Even the Invisibil Scratch Piklz sometimes have a tang of in perfection (albeit there's more of them and it rarely happens anyway). These guys just sound like one perfectly recorded track.
Ok, so, holy shit! This is the final edit. Can you imagine these guys jammin', composing the set, the amount of awesome material that didn't make the cut, and the bonding awesomeness they had making this! Simply amazing!
Haha. Exactly bro!! My sentiment exactly!!! And there never will be. People like this will never get the credit they deserve, while one hit wonders who have just picked up a mic and sang for about a year or two and had mum and dads money for all the lessons they need, will always prevail because of bullshit like X factor and the fact that people don't know real music. While guy like these literally put there whole lives into trying to get at least noticed,(digging for beats, listening for samples, practicing, and basically dedicating every minute of there lives to this great art).......so yeah....I agree with you man! At least you and I are another two views I guess.
I looked up that quote "if there are casualties of war remember when they got up this morning they did not plan too die this day allow them the dignity of death" that was from lieutenant colonel tim collins of ireland. and the fact you kept it in the accent shows how much you respect the ones that gone before you. even when it fits so well in a scratch performance....this is dope a fuck!
Now thats how its done, frome one Dj 2 another olschool djay's were still alive take pride in your style of cut I do I dig ya'll flavor keep up the good damage, pure #Dopeness!...
God damn it why can't you like a video more than once!!! I'm over here smashing the button like a mentalist like it's actually gonna like this a thousand times 😂 that routine is fresher than fresh!!!!
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFULSCRATCHES...LOVE IT..finally a different sound...a pleasure to hear..keep it up guys!!
I heard of a One Man Band, but you guys are a two-man Orchestra. You complement each other well if it wasn't for the video I wouldn't know who was scratching. Flawless victory.
Sup Vekked! Awesome idea to team up with DJ Brace! Brace is cool, I've heard him for a while. You guys would kill it at the DMC, or IDA team competitions! 2 Dope turntablist from Canada, represent guys. Wouldn't be cutting if it wasn't for Vekked! Keep it up, you have a lot to show the world.
haha you don't know how happy this comment makes us... we did a lot of digging for this routine specifically because we both don't really like using the same samples over and over when the beauty of our instruments is that we can use literally ANY sound. We tried to use mostly sounds that haven't been scratched before, or at least weren't completely played out.
You guys said in that first phrase about "pushing the buttons" (0:05) what many of us have been thinking for a while now! It definitely needed to be said. Also, that first track (1:23) is CRAZY!! PROPS!!
Around 5:30 the camera switches get a bit busy and its hard to see the cuts. Aside from that you guys are amazing. Vekked, i attended your workshop in vancity thanks again for the demo and the record markers!!! You guys are the future.
WELLWICKED. Those samples on the last leg! Bill+Ted, School of Rock, Chappelle, hahaha whut?! Diggers represent. Finally, a North American crew giving the French domination some competition; Birdy NamNam + C2C have been sitting on that "Instrumentablism" throne for long enough~Keep killing it fellas! PS - I'm coining that term if nobody's heard it yet...;)
Hahaha awesome man, so glad you caught all those samples. We spent so much time trying to find relevant samples and ones that those in the know would recognize :D
I don't feel that's true but I appreciate where you're coming from... Dali and Picasso had different styles but both equally art and equally expressive... You do you g and let others do them, peace ✌
"it's like a bad dance move..." spoken snippet at beginning is punk rock musician/producer (Nirvana's 'In Utero') Steve Albini speaking in the documentary 'Copyright Criminals' on his contempt for sampling as an art form...
2024 still melting my DNA
2022 and it's still fresher then.

I heard of a One Man Band, but you guys are a two-man Orchestra. You complement each other well if it wasn't for the video I wouldn't know who was scratching. Flawless victory.
That intro about having enough sense to be embarrassed is exactly how I feel about your hat and smirk
More. Please!!!
Yes sir, truer words have not been spoken

GLORY 2 UKRAINE!! We Lowe youre ART!!! WE Need it!! Every day in the air!! It help's!! Thanks!!!
Here's an idea DJcityTV, put your logo IN ONE OF THE TOP CORNERS! That way it is less likely to get in the way of the mixer/decks. Thanks.
"it's like a bad dance move..." spoken snippet at beginning is punk rock musician/producer (Nirvana's 'In Utero') Steve Albini speaking in the documentary 'Copyright Criminals' on his contempt for sampling as an art form...
do you know the name of the first song?
you killed it on this bro
Real Turntablism ! Only button we need to push is the Power on !!!
they have background music playing lol
And the start-stop. If I want to watch a turntablism routine, I don't want to listen to shitty finger drumming. I want fresh beats and tight cuts.
i love it ..dam i miss my turntables
