I grew up camping in Indian Boundary in the 70s. A lot of people may not know it, but off of Loop B, between it and the lake, there was an old amphitheater. They had live music and would show movies at nights for the campers, and have church on Sundays. It was destroyed by a tornado back in ‘91. The original beach was actually off of A Loop. It had a round stone island, which is still there and can be seen on Google Earth. People would swim out there and hang out, but snakes became a problem on the island and they closed it (that’s what I heard anyways). In the middle of Loop B there is a remnant of what the original campsites were like. Each tent site was lined in a square of river rock. And one last thing- the original bathhouses only had cold water, which I hated as a kid.
Love Indian Boundry. As a teen before the Cherohala Skyway and Indian Boundry were built we used to hunt there and that area was called The Flats. The store manager is my Nephew hope they were nice to you. I know they were Jeff and his wife are great folks. As a little brag I worked on the last segments of the highway in 1964, I believe. I was a Heavy equipment Operator.
That is some very cool family history. I spent about an hour and a half talking to the store manager one pouring rainy day. Very nice guy. Thanks very much for the comment !
Looks like a very nice campground to stay at.I really appreciate all the care you take to show everything at these campgrounds.I can tell you put a lot of effort into making them
Love the format of your videos. You provide a TON of really useful information at the beginning, and then actually SHOW the area and the sites...something severely lacking from other camping videos. Some people think that we want to see their mugs the entire time and not actually see what the area is like. Thank you.
FYI, if you go up the mountain from the campground entrance to Turkey Creek overlook you can often times get a cell signal if need be. If you don't need it, don't chase it down. Relax and unplug!
Excellent Advice. For all the youngsters out there: You know there was a time telephones were only stuck to the wall inside the home. Camping meant no phone!! So leave it home!!
I grew up camping every year on loop b. Lost a lot of skin going way too fast down the loop d hill on my bicycle. Good times. 10/10 would love to go again.
Somehow this comment got missed by me. Don't be nervous, Just figure it like a tent on wheels and you will feel like you've won the lottery ! Have fun, and Stay tuned !
Thanks for the nice tour. They had my local soft drink in the little store- Ale-8-One from Winchester, KY. It was the cherry flavor, but the original is a bit like ginger ale and mixes well with bourbon.
Well, Since we are camping and when its late in the day, I don't like him to be wet for bed, or I often become wet during bed. So I told him no, and he minds pretty well. But wait for the next video, he will show his swimming enthusiasm pretty strongly.
Enjoyed (re)discovering your channel and thanks for the preview of that area in the Cherokee NF. Like your ALiner! Benn pulling one around for about 8 years.
Akela is such a sweetheart, helping with firewood and kindling. Now if you can only teach him to make and tend your campfire at night ;)) Stay safe, have fun and happy camping ... Thanks, Rick and Akela
I liked it, but for some reason they removed the bathroom in my camping loop about 5 years ago and no one seems to know why. So it was a pain to go take a shower(Or other Bathroom needs).
I used to go there a lot when I was a kid. We used to canoe and boat in Big Rideau Lake every summer. Did a big Canoe trip (50 miles?/Km?) in Algonquin when I was 17... just a few years ago... If it weren't for the mosquitoes I would have weighed 50lbs more....LOL
Nice review but for those of us that might be a 1000 miles away you should mention where the rv campground is and if there is electric at the sites - just saves a little time having to look it up on line 🍻
I'm sorry, I thought i did mention the electrical. Sometimes things get cut out in the editing. And the Cherokee national Forest is in the Bottom eastern Corner of Tennessee and Southwestern part of North Carolina. Its a great areas to visit and explore ! Thanks for the comment, I appreciate the feedback!
"Beware, if you come to this campground, you won't be on your cell phone much." That is one of the nicest statements you could make about a campground, no cell service. The overriding idea about "getting out in nature, away from the hustle and bustle", is not having the umbilical cord still attached to the outside world. In an emergency situation sure it is nice to have that instant communications, but humans have survived for thousands of years without cell phones or service. That last statement will be hard for some to deal with. Or understand. The self-reliance concept. Keep up the trips and your take on the places you guys visit.
Ernest Paul I’m just finishing up hiking around Smoky Mountains and I can’t believe the number of people that are talking on their cell phones while walking around the trails. Sometimes I say things to them but most of the time they just grimace.
@@GoingNoWhereFast That's the umbilical cord I referred to. Too "busy" on the phone to be aware of their surroundings, let alone to be situationally aware. I have a "smart" phone that the wife talked me into "upgrading" from my flip phone a year ago. It does the same thing the flip phone did/does, stays in the Nite Ize belt pouch unless it rings or I have to make a call or take a picture for some reason.
I volunteer for the redcross all over the country. Iam in Raleigh-Durham until Wed. Would like to buy a sticker from you while Iam here but not sure how far you are from here. Keep up the great videos.
That's very Cool... If you want to get more subscribers from doing that, make sure you post on some of the campground review websites with a link to your videos. And some of the RV sites the same. You'll grow fairly fast.
Birmingham England, I'm the guy who converted the folding camper to an A- frame style camper, done a few video's of recent trips while testing it out, have a look ? it will feature on a major UK TV show late winter or early next year, I'll keep you posted,
@@mark1966 Yes I know. It is a very cleaver idea and you should start a full production company. I'm sure they would be popular all through Europe ! But you could still hope on a plane or boat and come on over. I think the UK is still considered a friend by our crazy government, though that can change in a "Tweet".
avlisk I prefer canoeing over kayaking, mostly just because I like it as a team sport. I like doing water sports with another person. Kayaking people tend to get separated quite a bit and it’s more individual. No I’ve done a lot of kayaking and have had a lot of fun doing it.
And Having been a biker a long time ago, I understand the draw. These roads just call to a motorcyclist to ride like the wind through the mountains. Fantastic roads !

@@GoingNoWhereFast Woodford Reserve is my favorite. Bulleit (pronounced bullet) is also good and you can't go wrong with Maker's Mark.

In the tour of restrooms, the large stall was handicap accessible. The bars were for assistance.
Yes, of course, but its also the nicest stall to use. Thanks for the comment. Much Appreciated.

hope you're not getting too much hurricane weather in your NC town.......
We are not getting a single cloud. My personal living requirements are to stay at least 200 miles from the coast at all times... So we are just fine!

Hey Rick... you need T-Mobile! For whatever reason that’s the only service that seems to work around there.
