Two blazes means there is an intersection or confusion. One blaze on top of the other means the trail goes straight ahead. If the top blaze is to the right ten the trail goes right.
Interesting 🤔. Is that from a trail maintenance book or some reference? I never heard that before. Though I’ve been out of trail maintenance for 20 years. 😆
I was glad I was "reserved out" of the lower area. I liked it, though the walk to the bathroom was down hill!! And then back up!! Thanks for the comment
I would think so. You have to sound very convincing and stern. Say, "Hey, I've been up all night trying to fix this weekend and I'm probably going to be out for the next two days waiting for it to get fixed." Then Hang up fast and go camping !!
So happy I discovered your channel! This made my day! I love in north ga and was lookin for some campsites 🏕 up there! You and you beautiful are living the good life! Hope to do the same some day! Thanks again! ❤
I drive tractor trailer for the sawmill up the road from where you work. I saw your RUclips sticker on your vehicle. Pretty cool videos. We love camping too
I've camped at the horse camp ground many times, what a beautiful place to ride, with plenty of trails! Blessed to have the Nantahala's as my back yard. Enjoyed your vid!
Another campground to add to my list and only two hours away for me. We're headed to Cataloochee next weekend. Maybe I'll swing by on the way back home to check it out and see which sites would be good for me. Thanks for the look see!
Another great video. So glad to hear your fun intro music again, I missed that. The info booth you were looking for is at the end of that trail where it meets the small parking lot. Local pronunciation is Nann-tuh-hay-luh.
Such a pretty campground. Beautiful, but my favorite time in that area is the fall. That silly Akela sure loves his sticks. He didn't hesitate going across that walkway over the water that wasn't very wide. Enjoyed! 🙂👍
Wow! That was awesome to grab the site when the campers left. It's was huge site and lots of space for Akela to play with his sticks. Hope to camp there soon. Thanks for sharing
Did 3 days on the AT around Standing Indian Campground in late '90s starting at Rock Gap. The last part of the fire tower hike is so steep you have to grab the bushes to pull yourself up to get traction. Tent camped near the tower and woke up to snow and bear tracks (bear sanctuary signs all along AT there). Don't know if it is still there, but if you go to the top of Standing Indian Mtn, there is an old rotary phone nailed to a tree with a sign "Your mom called, she wants you to go home." AT hikers all laugh ;) Was going to follow AT down to GA but met too many people heading to next lean-to and did not want noise along with all the mice/rats. Had no sleep at Carter Gap lean-to due to constant scurrying. Last day walked from Standing Indian peak down through the campground. Beautiful area, the AT was mostly walking through a Rhododendron tunnel. Hurricane Creek added to my list.
Very Cool Information. We'll climb to the tower next time we get up there. A longer weekend for sure! Thanks for the additional information! Great Comment !
@@GoingNoWhereFast it looked like you were going toward the fire tower from the parking lot at the dead-end of the road. That is rocky and a bit steep, but MUCH less so than from the other direction where you have to grab the bushes, roots, and rocks
@@chrismcelroy7915 They were actually doing work on the trail from the other direction and had it closed, so people were walking down the road instead of going up to the fire tower. We were just too late and too tired from running around all day and driving down besides. We will get back.
Enjoyed your video. A.T.has plenty of rocks or ankle twister's. Very beautiful campsite.Looked peaceful for morning coffee. Beautiful streams for Akela 🐾💕🐾👍👍❤️☕
We like it green. It's been hot, and fairly dry, but that just means it does rain so much we have flash floods. Still great out in the forests and mountains!!
My family and I just spent a week at Standing Indian Campground. We found your Standing Indian video last night after returning home. And we just passed you on I-40 in NC taking our grand daughters home- we blew the horn and gave you a thumbs up. We are subscribing to your channel - enjoy your videos. Can’t wait to watch your other videos.
One of my favorite campgrounds. I think I've been in the same site you were at. I wish there was cell service there but you can get a Verizon signal at the parking area by the AT a couple of miles down the paved road from the campground.
Another great one! Some spectacular views with the drone. I’ve done very little hiking since summer started and watching this one has me really itching to get out this weekend. Thank you for all you and Adela do Rick!,
Thanks for sharing, been following since the beginning! I recently just sold my Aliner and went with a Rpod. You and Slim Potato head have been an inspiration with the Aliners, We shall see how the Rpod works out for me
Perfect fix for a broken weekend. Great campground tour, appreciated the wonderful drone views. Glad to hear lots more camping is in the future for you and Akela.
Love the video! So the "M" on your coffee cup…it's not your first or last name. Old girlfriend? Some poor skeleton you found on the Appalachian Trail? LOL. Love this kind of forest campground! You might want to check your peak sound levels on the audio (speech only… music is fine), because even though I turned down the volume it sounded like it was distorted on the top end.
Thanks for the info! I'm not up to par on my editing. Too much Smelling fumes from the fiberglassing. You have a very interesting new profile photo....lol
@@GoingNoWhereFast Yeah, I've smelled "fumes" before, too, although I never thought to blame it on fiberglass! LOL I'm going for the "old hippie" look these days. The hair is shoulder-length now and getting longer every day. :)
Hidden Gem!
Very Much So!! Thanks for the comment !
That a beautiful camp ground ,enjoy !
Thank You. We Did !
Great campground. Great video
Thanks! I need to go back there!!
Awesome
Thanks James, It was a great, but short, weekend! trip.

So green! Hello from northern California!
Make yoour way east! We have plenty of everything!
I think I will try out those on the hill next time.
I was glad I was "reserved out" of the lower area. I liked it, though the walk to the bathroom was down hill!! And then back up!! Thanks for the comment
yep, I'm going there. Thanks for the review.
Hope you enjoy it!
I wonder if I call in and say “I have a broken weekend to fix” if that is a viable excuse!!

Welcome aboard! I have a lot in the "Georgia Playlist". Check it out!

You drive for Shavers!? Very cool, Thanks for checking out my channel! Glad to have you as a viewer
Yes shavers
Looks like rugged country. Nice trails, spacious sites at the campground. Thanks.........
There were sites of all types here, quite a selection, and so many First Come! I will be back !!
The trail blaze was correct. Two inline means go straight. The top one is offset to the right or left if you must turn at the crossroad ;-)
Thanks for the info. Seems things do change over 40-50 years !! lol
Dogs are allowed?
👍sure
Now I know what to do with all my broken weekends! Thanks for another good video!
Any time!
I've camped at the horse camp ground many times, what a beautiful place to ride, with plenty of trails! Blessed to have the Nantahala's as my back yard. Enjoyed your vid!
Thanks, There are a lot of great places in the area. I certainly do love it around here!

Ya, this place was nice! Wide range of different type of campsites, and first come first served, so easy last minute stop. Try it out Tom!

Us too! Depending on the amount of Hardwood trees and the years rainfall the colors can be impressive (Though not as impressive as New England...lol)

Looks like an awesome campground!! Thanks for sharing,, and I'm glad that Akela liked it also!!

NanTaHayLa
And you think this small brain will remember that?!?!? Thanks for trying though!! I'll work on it!

Let us know!! They are neat little campers. I have looked at them, for me, just not quite as big as I want if I'm going to go bigger!
Hey Rick & Akela see you’re getting close to 10,000 subscribers
Happy for you ☝️👍
So close! Doubt we will make it by January, maybe by my 8 year anniversary.
Perfect fix for a broken weekend. Great campground tour, appreciated the wonderful drone views. Glad to hear lots more camping is in the future for you and Akela.
Oh yes, we will keep going! Good to "hear from you"...!
I felt cooler just watching this wonderful video! (It’s hot and dry and brown now here in Phoenix!)
Oh wow! Come east where there is water and relaxing green forests!!
Very nice campground and beautiful drone shots. Is this a NPS campground?
Its a National Forest campground. None of the restrictions of NPS, no stuffy rangers, and very cheap!
