Does anyone know the rates that UPS, FedEx and Amazon pays the USPS to do the last mile delivery? They’ll drop packages that aren’t cost effective for them to delivery or if their volumes are excessive resulting in high overtime. The USPS has made it too easy for them and they definitely take advantage.
1.3 x 3 with 6 COLA adjustments. Btw, COLAs since 2020 are about $8000. I think top of the pay scale is about $75,000, plus overtime if desired. K Beck
Yes. IMO the pay increases are actually really good considering the financial turmoil the post office is in. It's the lack of things to protect carriers that I personally find disappointing. I would love to see carriers get paid what UPS carriers do, but I find that extremely unrealistic in our reality of ups making multiple billions of dollars last year while the post office lost multiple billions of dollars. People can talk all they want about cutting pay for management, but there are far fewer managers than their are carriers. That money would not go far at all. I think the post office needs to be funded by tax payer dollars again like it was before the 1970's and become the government service it was meant to be once again. The entire idea of what the post office does (delivering to every address in the country no matter how far off the beaten path) just isn't a money making venture. It's a service to the US people.
1.3 percent raise while removing the first 3 steps to help new hires. But people that been here longer get screwed over and dont even see a pay change. 50k dollar job 4 years later still a 50k job. Give me a break! I mailed an envelope to an address 190 miles away on 11/4/24 and it wasn't delivered until 12/17/24. I'm also still waiting for a package that was mailed 12 days ago from a neighboring state. I see no reason to reward crappy service. First class postage has gone up 46% in the past five years and the service is worse than ever.
