I'm fairly sure all the turntable operators do is watch to ensure people are staying seated as well. The turntables on these rides operate automatically like on Atlantica SuperSplash.
The one at SeaWorld Orlando is 20 times better
Cody Justin They just completely neutered the one in Orlando in 2017. The storyline is gone and the evil mermaid is gone.

@@tinsote7176 Yeah that kinda sucks since the evil mermaid was one of the coolest parts. They didn't even get rid of it, they just kinda stopped using it. I used to think it was just broken but turns out they just kinda got rid of it

Just the music, design of the boat, the dome and the rocks after the splash
The first time I saw it, I thought "wow, what's the point of that?" and then I decided it was just an obligatory crumb of theming over a log flume style splash drop. I'm only today learning that the other Sea World parks have rides of the same name that actually have some effort put into the atmosphere.
Anyone else notice the one employee kind of glared at him when he clarified it was a water ride??? Or am I crazy?

the journey to Atlantis in Florida's SeaWorld is so much more dramatic and fun. this seems really boring. the only thing I would be scared about is how high up it is lol.

Most of the times I've seen park staff up in these spots, they bring a good book or two with them. I could see the management disallowing a handheld game system... But books seem fine.

It's kind of a mix between kidish roller coaster and water ride. The last drop is the best part. Although, it gets you drenched.
Ik this is 7 years old but if its like what happened to me yesterday when I went on this and it was hot as hell that was the best part
It's a rollercoaster only cuz it has water at the end doesn't just consider a water ride that's like saying the matterhorn at Disneyland is a water coaster since it's has water at the end, if majority of ride relies on a track to guide it then it's a rollercoaster if majority of the ride relies on a flume with water then it's a water ride
On the Matterhorn you don't get wet and its to slow the coaster down on this ride you get soaking wet

in Germany in Europa Park is the same ride, and it´s a water Coaster.
By the Matterhorn the Coaster ride has a very short water moment. this attraction is a water Coaster cause it is mainly in water or it is the most of time in water and it starts and Ends in water.

This ride is sooo much fun! I went on with my best friend a few weeks ago and we could not stop riding it! The only downside is, the only place to put your bags is in a locker (which costs money btw) and the walk from the lockers and the loading docks is pretty far. I forgot to put my bag in a locker and had no one to hold it for me so I asked the employe if I could put it on the opposite side of the dock and they said no. I had to hide it in a bush in the middle of the line. They then tried to close the gates while I was still out. And too top it off, one of the staff members said "if your bag gets stolen please don't cry and ask us to help you find it".
Great ride and park, terrible customer service.
You should try the one's in San Diego and Orlando. Totally different experience

the concept of water coaster seems the most accurate, because it has aspects of a roller coaster and of a water ride... putting them together is what makes it awesome though.

If nobody can agree let me resolve the problem. It's actually a water-coaster because of the flume like ending and the roller coaster type attributes that the coaster has. The journey to Atlantis ride at Sea World in orlando is the same thing.

It's a roller coaster if it follows a track by guiding rails. The literal definition of a roller coaster: An amusement park attraction that consists of a light railroad track with many tight turns and steep slopes, on which people ride in small fast open cars.
I think I could ride this cause its not as wild as a roller coaster. I do think they should have some sort of water fall during the first drop. But Never the less very exciting ride it looks like.

Why are there operators at the spin-platforms? There are several identical rides and i've never saw that.
There's almost the same ride in Europa Park
Having been to the one in Orlando, this version of the attraction looks like one of those really bad and awkward looking Roller Coaster Tycoon tracks that you build as an 8 year old.

what is funny is that mack has also built a log flume like that: u start just floating a little bit, then it goes up, then your boat gets turned around, you float a few meters backwards then u get turned around again, then you goin down a 20 meter drop and the ride is pretty much over ... i guess this "water-coaster" is just the more expensive version of it lol

Theme Park Review Its a water ride because Michigans adventure as the same thing minus the giant hill and the spinny paltformy thingy so just come back to michigans adventure and ride Adventure falls its a great water ride and so is Grand Rapids so plz plz plz go back to michigans adventure and ride those rides and a roller coaster named Thunder Hawk its very smooth so is corkscrew so plz plz plz come back and plus We do have a very fun Logflume

I road this today. Here's a tip to have fun on this ride. Go to the back seat, and to the side. Lean had your head, relax, and close your eyes.

If you are ever confsued as to what it is (either a water coaster or a roller coaster) just look at the manufacturer website. In this example it is a Mack 'Super Splash' Model which is a water coaster.
I am literally not lying we went to this waterpark/Seaworld and it’s really fun

why do they try to theme it? It would be better off being called something like Boat and not have to pay extra for the unnecessary decor.
Because theming costs very little (in most cases, next to nothing) compared to actually construction of the ride, so even a very small gain in ride/park attendance makes the theming worth it.
I can't tell if you're joking or not. Firstly, from a marketing viewpoint, why wouldn't you theme it? Secondly, themed rides are a hell of a lot more fun and aesthetically pleasing. Coasters that tell a story are infinitely more memorable and exciting.
paulallanidae Why would he be joking? It's a legitimate question. Not everybody is familiar with the business aspects of running an amusement park, not even among roller coaster enthusiasts.
I work for the Walt Disney Company... I know a thing or two about theming. But there is so much that they could have done with it that it just seems like a waste of space to me. But if they showed no sign of themeing it, then it wouldn't be such an eye sore. The tell absolutely no story with this ride... all they tell is the title of the story...
A Mack product. I didn't know that Mack Rides builds the same roller coasters for other parks. The original roller coaster is called Atlantica Supersplash and is located in Europa Park in Germany.

Growing up in San Antonio Texas we used to go to sea world and fiesta Texas during the summer I miss my old hometown of San Antonio Texas
The middle part where it goes through a dip after it spins backwards is gravity powered. Therefore it is technically a water roller coaster. That dip has no water in it and is just track, so therefore it counts as both a coaster and a water ride, hence the term water roller coaster.
The one at the Orlando sea world is better. Just saying

Autumn Peirson I like medium roller coasters but I will ride any water slide and I don't really trust log flumes because they only have handle bars on the sides and they don't have something to actually strap you in

Technically, it is a roller coaster because it is completely on a track and a water coaster is a ride where you are pushed up by WATER. The thing that propells you on this ride is a track with water on the end.

I kinda agree but also disagree a little bit. I think it’s half roller coaster and half water slide . It’s one of my top five favorite rides at SeaWorld San Antonio, and I get to try out some rides I never rode before this summer including the new water slide at aquatica and Tidal Serge the new giant S&S swing machine that’s opening this spring .
It's essentially a fancy version of Tidal Force, which is essentially a glorified log flume with a boat shape. If it's something that would be found in the waterpark at Great Adventure, then it's a water ride. A fun one, yes, but still a water ride.

Defenition of a roller coaster is something where you go up and down using physics or in an emotional state. (I paraphrased). Even though this has water at the end, I say it is a roller coaster. It really depends on what you think though.
