The Weston Park classic car show, April 2023

  • The classic car show held at Weston Park in Staffordshire is the subject of today's hefty upload. The MX5 was our chosen steed for the trip over to this large classic cars event although it nearly didn't make it (more details in the vid), this again prompting thoughts that a properly old classic car suitable for long trips would be a good addition to our motoring menagerie. Hmmm.
Last year's Weston Park show was a good one so we were hopeful of the same again in 2023 and we were not to be disappointed, arriving early before most of the exhibiting cars arrived. This gave us chance to park up and watch the arrivals as they wended their way down the snaking driveway in front of the main house at Weston Park, before hot-footing it over to the main showground area to take a closer look at most of the cars on show. Apologies if we missed out your car, the video would have been twice as long if we had looked at everything, and we'd have run out of camera batteries long before completing everything. Hopefully what did make it in gives a good overview of April's Weston Park classic car show, and classic cars shows here in the UK. Around 240 individually edited clips went into this video.
My thanks to the owner of the immaculate Austin A90 Atlantic DHC who took time out to talk at length about his incredible car and demonstrate some of its features.
Thanks to everyone who watches this and the other old-car uploads on the Old Classic Car channel, please take a look through previous uploads of classic cars in the UK to view some of the other events we've been to over the last few years, and subscribe to catch future uploads as they hit the channel.

I noticed after putting the video live that I said Weston Park is in Shropshire (I think I did this in 2022 also!!), whereas it is in fact in neighbouring Staffordshire.

My seven year old grand-daughter has recently taken a great interest in old cars. I took her to the Geelong Revival here in Australia where she got to experience not only the cars, but the noise, the smell of the fumes, the speed, colour, variety - the lot. She loved it. Your video channel is just like that. It's not just the cars you show but your commentary including make, model, back stories. Even the trips to and from. I watch a lot of car show videos and yours are the best. Thanks for all you do.

It has to be the Austin Atlantic Convertible. 2nd the Rover P4 Cyclops, and 3rd the green Humber Hawk.
Nearly purchased a Triumph roadster (shown) back in the late 70s, from an elderly chap in the village of Freshford Bath.
But his son convinced his dad not to sell.
It was locked away in a barn type garage, and I just happened to peer through the crack in the wooden garage door. You can't win em all .

You wonder what the most popular classic car is. It seems to me that Cortina, Escort, Minor, MGB, Mini, and Stag are among the most represented. I've noticed a lot more interest in classic cars over the last few years, and they're getting more expensive unfortunately.

Yes you verbally label some cars but i strongly believe these videos are lacking that on-screen info for non car enthusiasts or new car enthusiasts. Caddies at 1440 and 2516 are 1960,, we have the same taste.. mid 50s are postcard worthy,, I got a charge over the Bedford mark 1 van at 134.18 and at 104.00 the ds reminded me of the rusty ID 19 estate I briefly owned and hit a building cause the steering wasn't reassembled after clutch replacement,, I was the unqualified mechanic and still am ,, postcard production is much safer .. dog at the 2 hour so funny and last the peugeot van??? I always learn but find American cars are a waste of time ..

Out of interest, what is going to happen to all these old cars once these u-LEZ and 15 minute cities are brought in? I don’t drive myself, but love going to classic car shows because it reminds me of how great this country once was with both the car and motor cycle industries we were proud of.

All these regs need watching but for now (in London at least) ULEZ doesn't apply to cars registered as Historic

Hi it's a kit car inspired by the Aston Martins of the 1950s, based (I think) on a BMW Z3
