  • Engine installation, first start-up, front end assembly and setup up of suspension for Race track! One of the most important parts of any race car - proper weight balancing and alignment!
    DISCLAIMER: This BMW E36 won't be for sale or rent. It will become a personal tracktool to bring more joy to everyday life!

    I start with installing back the engine - it was standing still for 2 years, so minor issues could be expected. Installation in e36 without front parts is very very easy - I have just removed right engine mount so I could move oil pan around steering rack easier. After first start up engine sounded rough and couldn't keep the idle. But after few attempts it worked just fine.
    After I was sure I won't need to remove engine - I have assembled front end parts. Using non OEM body panels is a real struggle to make them fit... But somehow they found the place on the car.
    Final part! Balancing and alignment - key to have your car stable and fast in the race track. Starting with adjusting each coilover to same settings as on the opposite side to start with. Having sway bars disconnected helps to get more accurate wheel weights. After balancing is done - time for alignment. Rule of thumb here for the race track - rear toe in, front toe out and quite some camber!

    I'm so jealous to Ignas, he never needs to pay for car repair whole life since he does all by himself.

    I've seen fitment problems with Goodridge lines, but also other brands, on multiple car models. Something you really don't expect with quality parts!

      Ohhhh... rarely quality expensive stuff really fits without any additional effort.. But yes - that's strange when such a simple stuff is wrong

    Another great video! You can see the experience at RF. Also my favourite alignment specs are used! Maybe a bit too much camber in the rear but depends on the swaybar also. I liked the part "a bit of oversteer is not a problem". :D

    Why not have a lower coolant to water ratio, for example 10/90? It is mandatory by racing organizations?
    Are you using distilled water or regular tap water?

    • @Ringfreaks
      @Ringfreaks  8 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on your goals - if for example you are planing to drive or store car in freezing temperatures, then yes. In racing here you can use anything you like in coolant system. 10/90 will still be very slippery. We use distilled water + redline water wetter.

    which BC racing coilovers are you runnning on the e90's and which spring rates. I would like to get a set for my own 325i.

      Hi David, it's a custom set we built only for our cars from various BC and custom made parts and dedicated only for Nordschleife by spring rates and valving. So that won't be relevant for other tracks and also its not available to be bought too.
