THE KILLER CURB - Investigation of Nordschleife

- Nürburging has just been opened for the new season - and despite investing a lot in the safety - people still find Track to be not the safest one. We have made this comedy investigation to explain in a fun way, how smoother track became and that THE CURB is just a stone on the side of the track. Nordschleife is being update every year - and always in the beginning of the season EVERYONE should learn the track as it would be a new one. As one small change in the layout or tarmac will move braking points, turn in points and cornering speeds. But that makes this track so special - you just keep on learning and enjoying it!

they gain so much speed from driving over that curb that they are now banned from touristenfahrten for being too fast...
I hope Misha sees this video 😂
im pretty sure this is going viral 😂
He already knows the curb is bigger from his trackwalk video and he has already done a video of his first lap when he tries to take the curbs, no damage but a very solid kick when trying to mount the curb.
@michaelscarport He did a second lap in the same car so pretty safe to say there was no damage.
@michaelscarportwell, its was ok to finish the lap normally, so thats what I based my comment on. However you do make a valid point.
Yes lmaooo 😂
Fun video! I think the main problem isn't "the curb is too big", but instead "there's no warning or announcement about this change". If a driver doesn't pay close attention they may take the old line and damage their car, and it wouldn't be nice to see everyone learn about this the hard way.
You can see it in the newest Misha's video, a trace of oil on the track going from this curb till Adenauer Forst, someone already learned the hard way
Than they have to pay attention, you can see it clearly. Always expect the unexpected
@@_Who_Am_I_And_Who_Are_You "you can see it clearly" on foot. not while trying to get a good lap in a track you are already familiar with. can't believe i have to point this out but even the minor changes in race tracks should be announced.
That particular corner was always flat. Everyone cut that corner was always taken flat out after the straight. Track update and the curb has been raised.
"'It must be magnetic"
that skit.. I LOST IT BRO xD
Somebody at Nürburgring HQ:
"Let's make the Nordschleife more dangerous at a high speed corner, what could possibly go wrong?!"
👍
CSI: Nürburg, coming soon to Netflix.
Imagine defending this curb. Oof.
That was the scariest part of THE track, and taking the curb was making it even spookier hahah
And now taking the curb will be even more spooky :D
You should travel the world and investigate kerbs who are strange or for example austrias track limits problem. This kind of content could be such a brilliant series
Fair point. Still I'm going to miss the line that went over the curb, people sending it up the hill was always such a cool thing to watch. Let's wait and see how the new line evolves and feels to watch. It's not about lap time for me but about flair.
Someone please stencil “Sponsored by KFZ Bongard” on that kerb. 🤣👍🏻
That was always one of my favorite part of the tracks, and now it's gone.. To be fair i only play video games but the awesome sequence of "compression, straighten car on incline for break, then turn left and back on throttle for the curb" before the final breaking sequence into Adenauer Forst will be missed in future games / sims.
As for Touristenfahrten - yea take it slow, this isn't a race.. but at the end of the day it's still a racetrack which now has a beautiful racing line stripped away from it.
EDIT: Please let's not get into semantics about the Nordschleife being a public road vs being a race track. We all know it's just a legal issue mainly concerning Touristenfahrten.
Genius.
OG Gran Turismo Trail Mountain chicane vibes
This curb is 25cm high ,not 10.They hit it whit 140 -160 km/h.
Have to agree that 18degrees over 60cm is closer to 20 cm high than 10…
Sehr geiles Video🤣 Freu mich schon auf die Gebuchten Runden am Ostersamstag😉
I've only driven this track in Assetto Corsa, but a lot on there. Laser-scanned from before the curb was changed ofc, so I know what people mean when they say that it was just perfect the way it was. You could always just flat out over that curb and you'd have the perfect line for the upcoming righthand turn. If you drive only a little bit more to the right, on the actual road, you might slide to the outside too much. The curb gives you safety and locks you into the corner. It was just one of the things that made you feel like it was designed like that on purpose. Having it changed like this with the lame excuse that people should follow track limits hasn't the same weight as the emotional experience of what this curb was like. Also how am I supposed to meaningfully train for this track now that the AC-version is not accurate anymore? Are they gonna contact the developers for a new laser-scan-date and push it as a free update? I don't think so
Ich freue mich auf jedes Video!
Danke Gernot!
This is definitely the funniest Nurburgring video I've ever watched... loved it 😆👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Now this was the video i was waiting for
Best curb investigation video I have ever seen - 🤔 was there another one?… hmmm… anyway - really funny and somehow you moved the curb discussion into the right dimension. Thanks 🙏😊
This is tier 1 content right here 😂
Good video, thank You! I have visited Nordschleife since 1990 and I have to say, almost every year there has been work done for the track. For example, in Hatzenbach last right hand corner, the curb has that same profile/height as this has. People, every time you enter track, what ever track, you have to look for the changes. DON’T BLAME TRACK, YOU are driving so you should know. Enjoy the best and most challenging track IN THE WORLD. ’But Esa, navigation told me to drive there’. 🙈😵💫
Well said!!
Thanks😇 Soooo gooood video! Shows that you have humour and don’t like people complaining for NO REASON what so ever. Keep up the good work! 👍🇫🇮
normally you take it easy on the first laps after a circuit update
That's the point, precisely! And on the NR I would take it easy any 1st lap of any day, you never know what's different from the day before or from the last time you drove it.
Before the new tarmac you were able to drive over it. So the people are used to use it.
Looking forward to meeting in June!
The old curb was allready a borderline case in my opinion
The car took it, but it rather had a wipperman .🙂
Well said, well written 👍💯
I loled few times, good job :D
If you cant get through there without the kerb, as the kids say:
Skill Issue :)
Yea i'm currently re-watching the 2023 24hrs, like an hour a day or so.. Appears like all these GT3 pros suffer from "skill issue" and just need to "git gud".
@@almightyIrie When the kerb was runnable idiot lol
@@almightyIriewell that was last year when it was possible with little risk. This year they're going to have to change their line like he said in the video, changes happen every year and this is just the latest change
Have I heard banking? Let’s bring the NASCAR overseas and do a race 🇺🇸🦅
We took nascar on Nordschleife like back in the 2019, didnt end too well 😅
That is really smooth asphalt 😍
To all the Hobby Racer. It´s an open Road, so think about it and don´t cry, if u screw it. If u want to race, be prepared as a Race Driver and learn the track every Year new, especially when u know there is new tarmac. Did u see a Race Driver complaining "Last Year I didn´t crash at this curb". 🤣🤣
Oh no, they raised the curb that causes the most crashes..... How dare they make the Ring safer
Now the curb will cause even more crashes
@@bennigek7196Only if people don't slow down.
They did not
Thank you for the video. Why do people drive the new section of the track so fast without checking out the changes? That's just stupid.
It's a conspiracy to lower lap times after making the track smoother and flatter at places like flugplatz.
Seen a golf jump it, its a no for me
Its a dificult curve, In my opinion the problem with that curve is that you cannot see the apex and if you are new to the circuit it is very difficult to calculate the turn causing people to try to get too close to the inside of the curve
I wonder when the Sims will get this Updated Curb
Will try to stop there tommorov in forza motorsport to pay tribute to this video 😂🎉🎉🎉🎉😅
we got it... 3 red 4 white, 2 red 6 white and so on and on...
Well said. The Touristenfahrten is no race! Don't go to the limit, just have fun driving. And avoir curbs anyway, always and everywhere, no problem!
To me it is just too dangerous in the Foxhole area, high speed, average visibility and little distance between two barriers.
Just impose a speed limit and install a permanent speed camera ;)
tbfr the not matching colours freak me out
Finally some Saudi can drive a Dune at the Ring in his G63 6x6
that's not the curb it's suspension and fence strength tester
One funny corner lost
So what your saying is, drive around roundabouts and dont go straight over them. Check ✔️

Hey guys I'm going to be in Berlin first time in Germany. is there anything cool car related I can visit while I'm there in Berlin?
I think some classic car museum is there, worth a visit!
Trabiworld take a tour of the city driving the Trabant, guided tour but you get to drive always fun, also the Porsche museum/exhibition which is free is worth a stop has some nice old timers but also has a 919 and Dakar inside.
THIS thank you !!!@@Richard_Turner
@Vgk36 no problem sure you will have good fun. Trabiworld is very close to checkpoint Charlie, infact if you stand to look at the checkpoint station infront of you from the east side you are on the street go to the right and to the end and it's there along with the hot air balloon, also trabi museum on the left and a very nice coffee house opposite on the right side
@@Richard_Turner You are awesome! thank you!
Worst changes the track have gone through in 10 years, making the curbs higher is dumb imo .
The track had a nice flow, now the curbs are completely bordering the road and there is maybe 3-4 spots left where you can put 2 wheels on the curbs .
Maybe I’m missing something or it’s for some safety reasons ? I still think it’s actually more dangerous to have bouncy curbs than curbs you can go over .
Just imagine clipping one of these at 160-170 or more ?
What was the idea there ? Make the drivers slower ? I don’t get it .
2:09 ´666 äFFRhöDiteR? ^^
Is there a possibility to get there as a viewer? I would like to watch this corner and see if people struggle.
Yes, have a walk from middle of Adenau up the hill and You will end up at Adenauer forst, which is just few steps from here. Make sure not to pass spectator fence! As You don’t know if there is no traffic at that time - even its early morning, lunch time or evening - some fast car can approach.
Are you related to Norbe?
Maybe just a little 😅 try checking Norbes older videos 👍
Bald, cope
the Nürbürgring is one of the worst racetracks. Period. There's no doscussion about it. It's not called "the green hell" because it's scary or difficult, but because it's a very badly designed track with very little safety features, bad visibility, dangerous and treacherous changes in "flatness". I've ran some racetracks, but the ring will always have a place in my heart as a piece of crap.
So the tarmac for this corner, coming out of the fox hole, is now sitting lower than before on the inside of the corner next to the curb? The turn is now also banked @6.5°?
Yes, well - Curb is at the correct position as it should be. But tarmac is much better than it was - so there is plenty grip while staying only on black top.
I think it’s neither funny nor correct. I like funny packed messages but this one isn’t a good one. First he makes the curb smaller than it is and then he recommends not to drive over it and the street there would be wide enough, so there would not be any need to take it. It’s just a comedy video, so please don’t take the message serious.
The curb shall prevent the area from too much water when it’s raining. That’s the compromise of the builders and it can only be learned buy the lucky ones hearing about the Desaster moments from those unlucky ones who did try it. And at the speed on this corner it’s not funny at all. That’s more than a recent change, it’s a dangerous one and caused already a lot. Finally this video is laughing about it. Not funny guys.
This curb is not in accordance with the driver's instinct and that's the end of the story.
Skill issue
Loved the video. Life, people and the track evolves. It was worn out and its been updated yet snowflake central crying over a kerb. You've shown you can carry more speed into the corner now and grip is so much better so the kerb isnt needed! The white lines are they for the AI at all?
Thanks! White lines are track limits for racing. Maybe these will help AI too - but can't confirm it.
" yet snowflake central crying over a kerb."
Because it is unsafe and WILL cause accidents/car damage
" You've shown you can carry more speed into the corner now "
He hasn't shown shit. He's just talked a bunch. Even if you can carry more speed now, with the curb fixed you could carry even more speed.
That spot was perfect for passing before, now anyone attempting it will not only damage their car but also potentially crash into the car they're passing.
@@BoredLikeHelI point proven
Fair enough to all your points, however if the track knew that people were riding or even just hitting the kerb already (even if they weren’t supposed to be as it’s out of track limits) prior to the resurfacing, would it not be safer to notify track users of said change knowing the potential damage and safety issue it could cause? I’ve not read into this much so if they did, again fair enough, but that’s not the impression I’m getting.
@@Pr0vost it been on all improvement videos since they started the works.
