i remember walking through here in the 80s. It was probably worse back then, and i definitely stood out being a grease ball. i was from Hells Kitchen though, so i knew what ghetto was. Brownsville gets a bad rap, but it is one of the few neighborhoods in New York that remind me of the old new york.
Not a grease ball but everyone thought i was to the point where even those from Italy said i should look up my background. Grew up in East New York and spent my twenties in the Bronx which was constantly alive with something compared to the quiet of Brooklyn but when i came back in 1990's it was going thru a transformation where its more like now with many more nice areas. Now am back in the Bronx since 2000 where things are not as great as they were back then but just like Brooklyn am pretty sure Bronx will be back on its feet once the crime and litter all over the place gets cleaned up.

Being a native Brownsville had Henry Hill back in the 60s. Always had thugs long before the 70s and 80s. Living in the Bay Area shows the Brownsville isn’t that bad.
Only thing I saw dangerous was my man in that radioactive head to toe green ensemble and the car with green rims. Just everyday regular people. Enjoyed this, thanks!
LOL, i grew up on Essex and Sheppard ave back in the 1970's. Summer time was great back then with the abandoned lots attracting grasshoppers, praying mantis, daddy long leg spiders etc. I used to spend most of the summer collecting them and watching them live in the big bottles i would have them live in as i fed and raised them. Neighborhood was mad dangerous back then but the gangs never bothered anyone and just had beefs between themselves.
If you from here this is just another part of the house. Some are safer than most and some fall victim to nonsense but that is everywhere in the world. For me, this happens to be home and I have strong relationships with the good, the bad and the ugly. Life gonna life in any hood. 💙

I was born in Newark NJ; some parts are hood, but that's my home. Come to places like: Compton, S. Los Angeles, Oakland, CA, S. Chicago, Philly, and Detroit. You can't get no more hood than that. Lol. Some areas you don't want to be in during daytime; and definitely not at night. Lol., but if you are respectful and mind your own business; there are actually nice people who care about others and their communities. 🏙🤣😂
You can literally walk around most hoods . Just don’t be stupid but that goes for anywhere in the world . The thing about said hoods is why would anyone want to go there unless they have business there such as friends , family , etc
I’m confused as to why you walking past an appliance store, with the merchandise on the corner of Watkins st (Iran’s Horton way)and didn’t record the name of the store. You pointed the camera towards the cloud 🤦🏽♀️
As a young teenager, my family took a trip to Brooklyn NY in the late 70’s to visit my aunt who lived in an apartment building in the projects. It was all kinds of crap happening and going up in the rickety elevator in the building was scary. We had a new fancy car where the tire rims had locks on, well when we left headed out town, my dad stopped at a full service gas station and the attendant noticed that the lug nuts were almost off on our car tires. Except for the busy traffic, this doesn’t look like the Brooklyn I visited in the late 70’s. This looks better.
Yep Brooklyn was reborn in the 1990's with the rundown areas getting an overhaul and the forever nice areas shining even more. My dad used to live on Powell and Livionia in the Projects for a few years before he passed and he had a stunning view of the river and bridges. I was glad he got to enjoy his last days with some beautiful sunrises and sunsets greeting him every day.
There are good people stuck in bad places all over the globe. Only takes a handful of bad people to ruin a place for everyone else, and the US police unable, unwilling -- or stopped by politicians (who don't even live in these places) from dealing with it. By the way, litter has nothing to do with poverty. :0/
50 seconds into the video, the pig throwing his rubbish on the floor. Can you not find a bin? People take no pride whatsoever nowadays. Same in London.
Dangerous? Felt like decent folks getting by on what they have to work with in a part of town that NYC seemed to run out of money on street sweeping and parks weed management. Rather pleasant in a way - very few honking horns and sirens as constantly heard in Manhattan. This didn't feel dangerous at all.
As an Irish person the first thing I see is nothing but big petrol guzzling non pedestrian friendly SUV's , why !?🤷 To me I see in this clip why the world's climate is fecked as Americans seem oblivious to how they're actions are impacting the climate.
