Developed by Surrey Place, the Blood Draw Toolkit is a treatment package involving systematic desensitization, relaxation strategies, a social story, video model, visual supports and both positive and differential reinforcement is used within this toolkit. Caregivers and clinicians alike will be guided through the process of progressively teaching an individual with a developmental disability to both tolerate and engage in a blood draw procedure while remaining calm at each step.

Thank you for this video I have intense anxiety about blood work ever since my first fainting spell ever since then I've always worried it will happen again . I will re watch this in hopes of better understanding how safe it is .

To anyone here who is feeling scared, I recently was as well and did a few things that helped a lot. Pressing the arm where the needle would go in with a sharp pencil, not too hard but it is virtually the same feeling and helped me adjust. Also, some numbing creams to decrease the sensation of the arm may help (I bought one called Emla but not sure if this is universal).

This was helpful because I will watch it daily until I don’t fear, at my office we had full body checkup and I saw blood getting drawn from my body to the needle and I was feeling dizzy the nurse asked for my urine sample I went to bathroom and I fainted my phone was in the toilet seat the toilet seat hit hard on my head after 5 minutes I came to mu senses and after that I always fear for blood work

I feel like the results are more anxiety-provoking than getting the blood draw.

Holy shit this hospital looks nice , the biggest reason i am afriad of blood test's in my hospital is because everything looks so old and dangerous , like for example this thing where nurse puts everything in - ITS METALIC IN MY HOSPITAL ! It looks scary , and that makes me panic , and panic makes me faint !

Warn us next time before you just show the injection and blood next time. Jeez, were obviously watching this because we have an issue with getting blood drawn

  • @capybara2050

I had strong anxiety while watching this, a whole panic attack when the needle went into the lady's arm, cried a lot and almost threw up. I have less than 12 hours (just night) to get ready for my blood test. I gotta survive it because after that I'm gonna get my Shein package with pou plushie. The last time I've been on blood test was when I was 13 (year ago), 3 nurses had to hold me to not move and I've almost fainted (I felt the needle touching my bone). It's because when I was younger I was traumatised when one of the nurses had to take my blood from my FOOT. I hope my comment traumatised you enough as this video did.💖

This did not help me at all 😢
