I feel like the line “I always felt like an alien on this planet anyway” is a reference to the challenges of being a zany, queer comic genius misunderstood by society until you get your big break (becoming the funniest SNL cast member in lord knows how long). Thank you, Kate McKinnon, for gracing us with your unearthly talent.
You summed it up perfectly!!!! She is a true icon. Queen. And legend!!! There will never be another like her. My humor is very similar to hers, and it’s always been hard for conventional people to understand me. Seeing her be unapologetically herself week after week, really helped me to start accepting myself, and not hiding my personality away, simple because people though I was weird
I think she’s the best Not Ready for Prime Time Player since Gilda Radner, my favorite of the Orignal NRFPTPs - and that says a lot, because the entire original cast was amazing, plus there were so many other greats, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, just to name a few.

@@CJ-gy8ie I'm pretty sure that the alien comment was a direct reference to queerness, because Kate talks about her sexuality and the social stigma appended to it openly and frequently. The sketch was also pretty clearly designed as a send-off, so it tracks that that amount of thought would go into key lines. But agree to disagree:)

I didn' even know she was leaving... Not gonna lie, my heart sunk to my stomach when I saw her tearing up. She's a great actress with a fantastic sense of humor and I just know that whatever she does will be amazing. It's sad to see her go, but she's going to do more great things.

Had to come back here after Cecily’s last show…it’s still so bittersweet to me.
The end of Kate McKinnon’s run on the show hits hard, despite knowing she would eventually leave SNL someday. She is probably my all time favorite cast member and it won’t be the same without her. I wish her the best in wherever she’s headed next.

The moment she turned back around, I felt that imminence. Saying goodbye for the final time.
There’s a certain sting that comes along with the feeling of “this made me happy, but it’s my time to say goodbye”that will always be difficult to describe.
But that face, made it crystal clear. Thank you so much, Kate.
Some actors know when they should move on. It's not when their act becomes stale but when they are still beloved and at the top of their game.

Kate McKinnon has made me laugh to tears so many times, but this time real genuine tears shed when I saw that last scene.
You can see in her eyes from the start that she’d been crying beforehand. Probably from the dress rehearsal. And in total Pro fashion she delivered a perfect performance anyway.
This made me cry, when Kate got on the spaceship to say goodbye I couldn’t help but well up in tears! She’s the GOAT!

What a great ending to her run. Even that last line in the room-“I always felt kinda like an alien on this planet anyway”-has a tone of bittersweetness. A lot of people turn to comedy because they feel out of place in the world, but Kate McKinnon found where she belonged, and she inspired lots of other people who feel the same way. Thank you for the laughter, Ms. McKinnon. :)

Natasha Lyonne is the best host this year. Great acting and timing.
That ending moment is the only time I think I’ve seen Kate break a bit and show emotion through her total immersion in a role. And with good reason. Can’t wait to see where her comedy takes her from here.
Well there was that one time last season on Weekend Update when she was Dr. Wenodis (pronounced like "we know this") talking about vaccines and Covid precautions, where she just completely broke. Colin Jost finally addressed her out of character saying "Kate, are you all right?", and she said "obviously not".
Also when she played Hilary Clinton after Trump won. She sang "Hallelujah" while playing piano. She was holding back tears during the end of that song
That's ironic bc I've never seen her make it through a skit that she didn't break character.

I honestly mean this! The second best ending to a comedy show, series, character that I've seen since the finale of "Newhart" (young one's look it up? It's brilliant-ty Jenny Newhart for that brilliant idea).

Her euphemisms for women's anatomy needs to be listed. Shocking yet hmmmmworthy.
The problem with this show and comedy in general is Men are being feminized. This show is all about woman and gays. So real men cant preform and are weak looking, coddling to girls here. Women generally are not funny and filled with to much emotion to be funny. So the ratings are bad because gays and fat girls are to emotional and cant get over personal struggles to be funny. The truth hurts like my big member.

Hands down the best series skit she’s done. I don’t think anyone that’s ever participated in this sketch along with her ever lasted without at least slightly breaking. I’m gonna miss her - she was one of the greats, easily among the SNL alum elite.

She is absolutely a legend - I have watched four decades of SNL and Kate McKinnon has been my absolute favorite comic - hands down. She expanded what was possible for a female comedian to do taking on male and female roles alike. She is a comic genius and I wish her all the very best. Will miss her tremendously. Hopefully she will come back and be a repeat host.

Same. I keep tearing up every time I watch it. She can't imagine how many nights she's gotten so many of us through. Especially the past few years. I hope she knows how much she's sincerely cherished.

She seemed verklempt at the end. Definitely the best SNL character in years. To the extent other characters had trouble keeping a straight face for some of them, she committed so much to them.

Kate has a sense of comedic timing that is a gift from god, she knew what was funny and exactly how to share that with her audience. She'll go down in SNL history as one of the all-time greats. The only saving grace to her departure is that she can come back anytime she wants! Thanks for all the laughs Kate!

I saw this when it aired but felt it just watching again now. Kate in my very favorite sketch bit character of Hers. God bless Her and give Her a hug of appreciation from all of us.

I feel like Aidy was already emotional when the sketch started and honestly same. I basically grew up with Kate on SNL (I was 12 when Kate started). She's made me laugh and inspired me so many times throughout her time on the show. She's truly an amazing comedian, artist and woman. She truly carried SNL with her many characters the last 10 years and she'll be greatly missed on the show.
Can't wait to see her future endeavours!
Aidy is actually leaving, too. This was her final episode, as well.

This actually made me cry. I have anxiety, ptsd, and adhd so falling asleep is hard for me. Watching SNL skits as a fall asleep gives me something to focus on other than the thought tornado. Kate McKinnon, for almost 5 years you have been able to help me fall asleep and quiet my thoughts. I've had four heart surgeries at 23 years old and every night before going to the hospital, I would watch you. Even when I was in the hospital, and it would hurt to laugh sometimes, I still watched you. This may be your last show as a cast member, but for me, your performance will never end. Take a bow Kate, and thank you.
