I own a RTX 4050 laptop and this video is spot on. I don't have the bandwidth to game constantly so I'm just playing games from my backlog that are at least 3-4 years old. 6 GB of VRAM is great for this scenario at 1080p, but an argument can be made that it's obsolete with minimum requirements nowadays being 8GB of VRAM. Nvidia is really counting on DLSS to fill in the VRAM gap, but it can only do so much. It's the reason why the 6800 XT is considered to be one of the best value GPUs from the previous generation.
@@beckett29 depends on your definition of high? If you're fine with 60fps then you should be alright. If you want 90fps+ natively then look elsewhere. Also, if you want to play more visually impressive titles then you might be reliant on DLSS which does work very well. I would go the 4060 route for extra assurance for 1080p gaming that should keep up within the next few years.
@@johnnyb13 just wondering, on the benchmarks ive seen of the laptop im getting that has a rtx 4050 6gb version and ryzen 7 7840hs, they are getting well above 100 on high settings in gta, valorant, fortnite, cod and stuff like that. if settings are cranked down it even goes above 200. Am I going to be able to play games at those frames but it's going to stutter really bad or something? I just don't understand it.
@@beckett29 you'll be fine. Fornite, COD, and similar games will output high fps with this GPU since those games are better optimized to include a wide range of audience with different GPUs so you'll be plenty fine. I play mainly single player story-driven games and I get good FPS at 1080p.
Historically, the 50 series have been vram limited. It seems like it's for casual budget gamers like myself who intend to play games that came out the same year or earlier, at least the AAA ones. I'm actually now contemplating on just getting a PS5 by the end of the year instead of upgrading to a 4050 laptop since PC ports of games are always not as optimized.
@@goodbusiness9674 I think PC ports not being as optimized just about covers it. Got a laptop for some casual gaming mainly because it's somewhat portable as well. If I'm going to be glued to a certain spot at home, then I think I would just choose PS so I could play those PS exclusives too.
Nope. Don't do it. I mean, unless you already have access to a PC, that's not a good decision at all. There have been like 2 games this year that have been absolutely terrible ports. One of them has been updated recently which massively increases fps across the board. I will say that a 4050 will struggle at 1440p or 4k or 1080p with extremely demanding raytracing, but it's still leagues better than the PS5(which is more comparable to a 2060 in a best case scenario), especially with dlss 3. Plus, the numerous benefits of owning a PC. You're just going to save money in the long run.
RTX 4050 140w version which is on legion pro 5 is actually faster than desktop rtx 3060 in rendering, I have tested it on many renders and benchmarks myself, it was even better than 2080 super in blender.
What about realtime Vport fps, how much this low bandwidth Vram affect the fps . In games like Valhalla Where cpu and GPU are equally utilised it seen unstable fps.
In the time of rtx 3050 i really thought 4gb of vram was pretty bad, even previous generation 1660ti(the one i have) outperforms it in some vram demanding games, but in this generation i believe they did it right, the 50 series has the same vram than 60 series from last gen, dont forget the word entry level, sometimes people want the best of the best but are not willing to pay its price. Now the high price of 4050 laptops are indeed a problem, but i believe it is one that will be fixed in short time when more models arrive. I believe when 50 series is 850 or 900$, you will be getting a lot for the price, otherwise pay a bit more and go for 4060.
Yeah the 4gb ram is now these days considered minimum if you play somehow demanding games. But this is just a advice from myself. Even though my own laptop has EGPU connectivity options due to it having thunderboltr 4 build into it. I mostly stick to cloud gaming in terms of newer demanding titles
In reality it reaches 75-95w. Not 110 even ;) BUT it can still achieve it's designed performance, but yeah. It's super unnecessary of them doing that...
@@user-ev2gv9zk2t it's good but your paying extra money for extra 40 watt which is cannot be used in future, i think they should lower the price for lower power gpu
@@hokopl Well you actually can play a lot of games on ultra just fine on the RTX 4050. Especially older Games and lighter games. Even AAA. But there are more and more games in which the VRAM won't allow that. And that trend will continue and even accelerate.
it can play any game on ultra in 1080 or 1200p with at least 90 fps. if more than 6gb vram is not required it actually outperforms most of 8gb video cards. it outperforms all 3060s except ti version, it outperforms 1080, 1070, 1660 ti and even rtx 2070 and 2080 and I mean this in everything including gaming even without frame generation.
@@GiorgiGachechiladze02 hm no it doesn't outperform all 3060. With the laptops I've tested the 3060 when faster sometimes and slower sometimes. And you cannot play the last of us even on high settings on some laptops. Or hogwarts legacy which you'd have to use medium settings in order to get smooth gameplay. Or let alone forspoken.
I recently bought a lenovo legion 5 laptop with rtx 3060(130w) which was on deal at that moment for around 90k inr (1100USD) earlier was thinking of waiting for 4050 but I knew that atleast in INDIA we will not get 4050 at that price point any time soon and definitely not with the build quality, display, looks like the legion series. I am pretty happy with my purchase
I just ordered an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, i5 13,500hx with rtx 4050 at 140w as claimed by them for around 1300 USD. Hope I do not regret my purchase, I am not an intensive gamer I just play some games which are around 2-3 older and mostly at 1080p resolution when I'm bored. I was looking for a laptop which is good for day to day and multitasking activities like basic programming, working, watching movies, etc. I am sure the intel 13 gen processor will handle them flawlessly. Also really liked your video, detailed explanation and great information. Keep up the good work! ❤
The people that are upset don’t mean you can play the game it’s just you can’t play them with crazy high resolution just adjust your settings and you can still play pretty much anything very well I have a loq 15 Ryzen 7 rtx 4050 the developer of games are always making games that outperform or pcs and laptops it’s been that way forever when you buy something you buy it for now and maybe for like games that are in the next 2 years but I personally am ok with that thiers so meny good games I can play and I’m not worried
There is a huge factor which needs to be considered when comparing an older gpu against the 4050, the 40 series GPUs are way ahead in terms of the efficiency and thus being able to fit into slim laptops. If you care about heat, thin design and small form factor, the 4050 mobile is a no brainer. The 3070ti or even the 1080ti is required to be in bulky 15/16 inch laptop and even so, extremely high temps whilst playing normal games.
Well that's basically always the case. There have been 35w versions for the 3050 aswell from the start. Very efficient back then (problem beeing 4gb vram) Newer generations are always more efficient. There also are 60w versions of the 3060 that fit in slimmer laptops aswell. And the 4050 version With 100w is not meant for slim laptops. So it really depends. But of course the low wattage versions of newer GPUs are always a good fit for slim laptops, sure.
Currently running a 120W 4060 laptop and the limit at ~90 watts is very confusing for me. In some benchmarks like Furmark, it goes all the way up to the limit, and the results there are pretty crazy (Even beating out some recent benchmarks for desktop 3060 Ti's, 3070s, and even a handful of 2080 supers and even a 2080 ti) Apart from that, I have no complaints, as I'm not really interested in a lot of these newer AAA games, and with my 1080p display I can run pretty much whatever I want at absolute maximum settings, which produces noticeable results with my 165 hz display, especially coming from a 2016 office laptop with a 920 mx and a 720p 60 hz screen. Even the price I got it for wasn't terrible at all surprisingly. Paid ~1300 for a 4060, 16 gigs of 3200 ddr4, a 512 gb SSD, an i7-13620H, and a 16:10 1080p 165hz display along with a cooling system that keeps temps shockingly low even with a mild overclock. I can even run it with fans on "silent" mode and still get great performance. Additionally, DLSS3 and raytracing in the games that support it is a game changer. Considering there is an additional m.2 slot and an additional ram slot, I'm probably going to throw in another 16 gig stick and a 1 tb SSD (which with today's pricing is somehow under $100 for the both of them) If you can get a good 4060 laptop for around the same price or even lower, I might even venture to say it's a somewhat good value buy considering the performance and portability you get, even compared to a similar desktop intel/nvidia build (if you factor in the monitor and peripherals) (although an AMD/AMD, Intel/AMD, AMD/Intel or even Intel/Intel build right now seems to be the way to go with nvidia's GPU pricing)
This explains a lot. I have an Asus TUF A17 with the 4050. I was playing Portal with RTX and there's a test that requires you to create a portal while flying through the air and the stutter is so bad trying to pull this off it's impossible. I lowered the settings to no avail. Sucks to have a 144hz display that the GPU struggles to use.
I just got a 2021 legion 5 last week which comes with rtx 3060 130 watt and 1440p display at around $1000 . All the other laptops are a lot overpriced . MSI is selling their 4050 45 watt laptops at around $1100 having 45% NTSC display , 105 watt 4060 laptops are priced at $1800 , 4070 140 watt predator is priced at $2500+ . These new 4000 series prices are outrageous in my country . I actually got the 3060 legion for a pretty good deal as all the other 3060 laptops from 2022 like TUFs are around $1300
Also MSI's Alpha , delta laptops with AMD gpus like 6600M and 6700M are around the same price of $1100-1200 but these models really has a poor build quality and MSI's service also sucks in my Country
I think 4060 75w is the budget option when it comes to vram. Wouldn't you guys agree? I'm thinking of gygabite g5 with 4060 75w for 1099$. It needs upgraded ram but you can do that later.
Yeah the G5 will probably be the Budget King again in terms of FPS per $. :) Otherwise cheaper RX 7600S or M Laptops could steal that crown... if they exist ;)
I want to buy the lenovo legion 5i pro gen 8 with rtx 4060 and i5-13500. I'ts about 100 euros more than the rtx 4050 variant, but i think you get more for your money.
I bought a laptop with a RTX 4050 and I7 13th generation 1tb ssd and 16gb ram, its my first laptop ever and for me its a good option, im not upgrading its my first one and I like to play in 1080p, as I can see all games can run in 1080p high to ultra graphics with no problem
Totally agree to be honest, the bare minimum now if you want to play 4K is 16GB (desktop or laptop on its screen or with monitor plugged... Try playing Cyberpunk on 4K and ultra settings with RT on its around 15950 mb for Vram already, yes 4050 is not intended towards 4K gaming and yes cards in this segment do not have the processing power to help even if there was 16 GB Vram, what I mean if a game from 2-3 years like Cyberpunk already uses 16 GB Vram, there should not be any 6 or 8 gb, it's limiting games at lower res and lower settings you don't have to play at 4k, rt, and Ultra settings to be bottlenecked by a 6 to 8 GB of Vram, even 12 Vram will most likely limit you in many title from 2021-2024, if you are buying a desktop though, and have the money and want to game 4k, then by one of those 24+ cards that will be released soon from AMD, Nvidia, those if came with the expected good specs will last you 6 years flat ....
I can’t decide between these laptops, someone can help? • Asus tuf gaming, Ryzen 7735HS with 4050, $1200 • Asus tuf gaming, Ryzen 6800h with 3060 140W, $1312 • MSI katana 15, i7 13620h with 4050, 1230$ Im thinking about streaming, but im mainly worried about the battery life and good temperatures.
Hey, there's a laptop from Acer, Nitro 5, i7 12650H, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, 8 GB RTX 3070 TI available for around USD 1220. Specs look cool. But there are downsides too; RAM obviously. Battery is just 53 or 55 WHr and many people who have used it, they have a complaint of thermal issue/ bad cooling; temp rising beyond 90-95°c and some who had 1-2 year old model they complained about CPU being fried i.e. dead laptop i.e. all money down the drain. So I just wanna confirm from you about it if you've used it or anyone.
I bought the same version pcu with 4060 for 899 just a week ago from acer official store. And there was ddr5 4800 instead of ddr4. And nitros get hot, and full fan load is louder than my vacuum cleaner (I am not exaggerating, me and my wife have actually compared the two).
Its faster than the 3000 series nvidia so of course it is going to heat up more. But does it shut down if it gets too hot? As long as it dont shuts down for little reason when it gets hot. You can try under options like limiting the fps for longevity
Good content and observations. I just bought a laptop with said GPU and it is not an issue for me as sole purpose of this was to replace my outdated PC. I moved to consoles 6 years ago but still have a massive (300+ games) library of now "classic" games which were all running fine (60+ FPS on high/ultra) on said system and I just want to replay them but don't need massive tower with water cooling/ 9 fans total etc to stand there so I can play StarCraft 2, Doom 2016, AVP 2000, fear or NFS Underground 2 ^^. For someone like me this smaller ram is no issue
I have Asus Tuf F15 i5 13500h RTX 4050 , in warzone at low/medium i am able to pull a constant 120 fps locked , i am very satisfied with the performance.
I really don't understand the point of this video. NVIDIA has to skimp on VRAM because the 4050 GPU for laptops has to be smaller while still coming close to its sister desktop version, of course they can't just magically cram 8gb of VRAM into a GPU thats smaller and has lower wattage. I have a RTX 4050 w/ AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, and this laptop runs great. And yes, I run Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy very smoothly with some global graphic tweaks.
Haven't tried games from beyond 2020 yet, but my Lenovo Ideapad Gaming with R5 7535HS + RTX 4050 is able to easily get Ultra Graphics on slightly more older titles such as FH4 at consistent 90-120 FPS in Ultra and also Watch Dogs at more than 100 FPS.
Definitely the 4060, it has more VRAM. 4050 140w will practically never use more than 95-100w. 4060 can match 4050's peak performance at just 55watts of power. If you go with 4060 you might get like 10% less performance but the extra 33% VRAM will be worth it. Furthermore, the 45w 4060 laptop will be thinner, more portable and lighter as well and maybe even comes with a smaller power brick. Just get the 4060 if you haven't already, it's a win win situation. Remember VRAM is very important. Coming from someone who owns 2 4GB GPUs, if you run out of VRAM it is nasty.
Im thinking to get the Predator Helios Neo 16 but I am torn between getting the 4060 which is priced around $1253$ and the 4050 priced at $1056 both having i5 13500HX, which one should I get? Also other option is Lenovo LOQ 15 with 4050 and Ryzen 5 7640H priced at $984. Can you give your thoughts? Thank you!
Well in Mexico the xbox series X still costs like 800 dollars, I bought a laptop with 16 GB of RAM and rtx 4050 it cost me like 900 dollars, it runs the games better than an xbox series S that cost me like 335 dollars, so well the price is equivalent to almost triple and the performance is the same, so on an xbox series X you can't play spiderman remastered but on the laptop you can and at more than 60 FPS I'm super happy with that also a few days ago a video driver was released for the laptop and halo at more than 120 FPS in portable mode it's a real pleasure to play like that and the FHD due to the graphic overscaling looks like 4K on your monitor. I still need to try more games but at least all the games from the last generation, as long as they support more than 60Hz, can be played at more than 120 FPS with everything to the maximum. If there are games that don't work, they will be few and not very interesting, for some reason the most popular ones do work. In addition, you would only have to wait for them to release updates for the games and also for the video drivers. It is worth mentioning that in Mexico a PC, especially a laptop, with these features costs approximately $2000, which came to less than half of its base price, so if it was a good deal, the games I wanted to play worked without problems.
Finally, GPU equality. 4050 desktop coming in 6GB and 4060 on desktop coming in 8GB VRAM too. That was sad to hear and heartbreaking at the same time. Guess this is it for the next-gen gaming. There is no point gaming higher than 1080p since so many badly optimized games released these days even 1080p gaming being too demanding. VRAM not maxed out is a RTSS scam. It's actually bottlenecked heavily. According to Tech YES City where they discussed 8GB is the bare minimum for the newer titles with no Ray Tracing. I like NVIDIA features which AMD don't have like Shadowplay and DLSS for instance. If not then Imma go with AMD instead. For productivity and editing, it's very doable, just make sure you have enough RAM and gitgud display and that's all about it.
How to choose 799$ legion i5-13500H+3050 6g or 1069$ i7-13700H+4050 6g? The productivity of those CPUS are 10%+ and the improvement of 4050 with 3050 is about 50% but the prize raised 270$ which one should I choose?
Given that new models with 4050 (like 13th gen intel pcu) are at the same price as 12th gen with 4060 - there is no point in buying any laptops with 4050
I onestly love the 4050 but i have an extreme niche use cases. I have a z13 that i use only with the screen and 6-P cores active; so i basically use 65w total with all the PC. For me it's basically the handheld i want, with a couple of 100w Powerbank you can achieve 6 hours of gaming with performance that igpu can't never reach. And basically you're still on battery. It's not a good card overall, but it's impressive for the performance per watts.
@@Hubwood absolutely right, I would be really curious if they could achieve an handheld with maybe a 5050 or something low power form Nvidia in the future. Time will tell
@@Frigobar_Ranamelonico not sure if we will need that. The next AMD iGPU generation is to be expected 30% faster than the last already. Coming soon. Probably at an even lower wattage. Maybe the low power dedicated GPU section will be replaced by that completely.
@@Hubwood I'm not that convinced; looking at the upcoming games+ the few UE5 put right now. They're so demanding even on my 4090 that I think it will be similar to right now with the steam deck. Great machine as a companion, to a main PC; unfortunately way underpowered to achieve a decent performance (without crashing the graphics quality) in the heaviest games
I'm an upcoming film and media student who needs a laptop capable of video editing for my school, do you think a 4050 with 16 gigs of ram is enough for Davinci Resolve at 4k
Going from console to PC is not such a big code-rewrite as people claim ... actually it is quite easy nowadays. That perception comes from the older consoles many many years ago when their hardware was often completely different from PCs. When the Xbox used power-PC, or the Playstation used Cell (and basically all earlier consoles) the behaviour of the hardware was wildly different from PCs. But now? No. Hogwarts is just wasting a lot of memory and LastOfUs has been widely criticised for the myriad of memory bugs it has. For both games people have shown that even just ini-tweaks can significantly improve performance and reduce memory usage WITHOUT changing visuals, and for both the communities have created mods to further fix all those memory bugs (say having the max quality textures loaded for an object in the far distance that is always only shown at the lowest LoD ).
Yeah, TLOU is defenitely buggy. Unfortunately reality is, that more and more games are released that way. People with low VRAM can't play them. Especially people that are not into tweaking and stuff like that. On the other hand buying GPUs with bigger vram encourages the developers to continue like that. It's a mess. 😐
@@Hubwood Yeah. People need to start voting with their wallets. We can see that this works with many examples, and we also see the opposite. When games are released completely broken like Cyberpunk and people still buy them then the next game will be no better. When game have poor performance and memory bugs but people still buy them then this will keep being the same the next time. When scalpers (illegally) sell GPUs for insane prices and people buy them then they will continue doing so. When Manufacturers set the GPU prices at twice the value they should be and people still buy them then the prices will stay at those insane levels. Sad, but yeah it is unlikely to change in the near future.
I own a 4050 laptop and this video seems incorrect. From the benchmarks and games I've tested, it's around 15% to 35% slower than the RTX 2060 6GB that's in my main PC, and around 50-60% slower than the 1080Ti and RTX 2070 Super than you said it's comparable to in this video. TechPowerUp also backs this up. What games did you test it in to get your results? They seem pretty skewed.
@@Hubwood nvm I just looked it up and it's a much lower wattage RTX 4050. So you're 100% correct, techpowerup must have also accidentally tested a lower wattage version (I just assumed they tested the fastest version lol) Sorry for commenting without doing research. Your video is great

Hello i just came across your video while looking to buy a new laptop and im having truoble choosing a laptop. The first one has a 4050 with 24GB or RAM and a AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS (And its kinda expensive but right in my budget) and the an acer model with the AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735HS and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 and 16GB of RAM which is just a little out of my price range and im wondering which one should i get?
well if it won't "hurt" you, the 4060 will last longer due to it's bigger VRAM Size which will make certain Games in certain Resolutions and settings unplayable on the 4050...
Hope for an advice. I am buying a gaming laptop for my 11 years old son the choice is between a new LOQ 15 with a i5 12450HS and RTX 4050 at 857UDS or a used HP Omen i7 9750H with a RTX 2060 at 530 USD. after seeing this review I am in doubt if I should go for the used laptop at the RTX 4050 will be outdated soon anyway. My son current play Fortnite, Minecraft, Raft, Tear down...please advice
I think AMD Radeon make a smart choice for understanding gaming n editing perspective making more vram volume at affordable price. The key is simple heavy games n application needs more vram not iconic brands. So go for AMD radeons 💪
Dude can you make a comparison between the 6800m and the 4050 or 4060 without frame generation? Watching this video i am extremely confused now.... I think that 6800m will generate lesser frames than the 4060 native without dlss or frame geberation but the 6800m has 12 gb of ram and thats way more future proof than these 4050 and 4060.... And all of them are similarly priced ( i mean the tuf a15, f15 and the strix advantage edition) and i am very confused which one to buy.... Primary and solo purpose is to game.... And very rarely stream... I mainly play forza horizon 5 on a competitive level, and planning to play the upcoming forza Motorsport. Thanks in advance
I recently bought a laptop with a ryzen 5 with a rtx 4060 . But traded it for. Ryzen 7840hs and rtx 4050 . As I don't play games much. Still a great machine
I mean a 4050 laptop would not be bought with the expectation of being future-proof. It is sufficient to play most current games in accepatble 1080p quality (though I agree, in 1440p one has to experiment a bit with ingame settings). As entry-level gaming laptop, I think a 4050 RTX should be fine. You want to play some Fortnite and sort, and that is possible. Baldur's Gate 3, Witcher 3 and other titles also run well if you use appropriate settings, and those games still look good. Not everyone would need highest fps in Cyberpunk.
Hi... I am about to get a laptop for blender purposes (3d modeling) and video editing (Davinci resolve). As i am pretty confused at this point as you said in the video and I can't find out much info on this 3060 vs 4050 on content creation... can you please say whether 4050 Asus vivobook (16 gigs of ram) or 3060 such as hp victus and legion 5 (16 gigs of ram) would give the best blender experience and rendering.... Thank you and nice video mate
Cheers. Both GPUs are basically identical for these tasks. We're talking about head to head mostly. Both have 6gb. Both have around the same performance. In that case focusing on other aspects like cpu, ram, ssd or build quality would make more sense :)
10:14 😅 Hi again as you said here why is that 4050 will fail at complex renders using optix pls ??? Also will 3060 handle these complex renders using optix ??? Thank you
@@josephjebarajs3550 optix uses more vram and fails to render if the vram is "full". Regular Cuda rendering uses a bit less vram. And cpu rendering can use the system ram, which is usually bigger. The 4050 and the 3060 both have 6GB. It doesn't make a difference which of these 2 GPUs you use for blender rendering.
@@Hubwood thanks for the reply bro... So it is impartial of error in both 3060 and 4050 as the matter is vram ?? But which of these might have high render speeds and have you tested the studio drivers in both of these brother ??
Yeaaaah well in most cases yes. But some newer games might already become an issue if you'd be using ultra settings. And surely upcoming games will be an issue.
I use my laptop for music production, photo editing, and web browsing, so the RTX 4050 is far enough for me. I am too old to play videogames in 3D. I still prefer old school videogames in 2D from the 80-90's, lol.
Recently got the MSI Cyborg 15 on sale at Costco for $800 for the price that's really really good normally it sells for $1000. I think it's the cheapest you'll get for a RTX 4050 gaming laptop. You can play majority of the games to ultra to high settings with a some what solid 60 FPS sometimes dipping down to 50 FPS which is not that noticeable to a casual player. The only downside is the storage with only 500GB but for some people that's all you need if you just only play few Triple A titles. I mainly play fighting games and your typical shooter games that's about it. What's your thought's will this be able to run Tekken 8 and Modern Warfare 3 on Ultra settings?
They were selling 4060 cyborgs for 880 on bestbuy, but it is the laptop with serious power limit cuta - 45 wt for pcu and 75 wt for that 4060 if I am not mistaken. So it underperforms severely because of that
Seems like the 4050 is a monster i didn't think it would be as strong, not weak but it is stronger than i thought. If it had 8gb of vram it would've been perfect.
Still the rtx 4050 outperformed my gtx 1650 gddr5 😅. I dont really play AAA games im just casual gamer who play R6 or valorant and i think 4050 is more than enough
There is hp victus with Ryzen 5-8645hs and 4050 6gb but with only 70w max and the different between it and a max power on in my country is around 80 dollars, was wondering if it's worth spending the extra money for the 140w version if it really does affect the performance
It does affect performance a bit. 80 dollars might be worth the upgrade all things considered if you can afford it and it doesn't hurt you... You will probably get more FPS per dollar with the upgraded version.
The rtx 4050 laptop with full power comes with ryzen 5 7535hs and ddr4 and the rtx 4050 laptop with 75 comes with ryzen 5 8645hs and ddr5 should i still get the one with full power?
I am comparing 2 laptops with similar price in my country, lenovo loq 15 irx9 and HP victus 16. Lenovo uses i5-13450HX rtx 4050 tgp 105W, and HP uses ryzen 5 7640HS rtx 4060 tgp 120W. Can you rate which one is better and why?
I have a laptop with 2060 and am looking at upgrading to one with a 4050 - i can do this for free (via airmiles) but don't have an option of any other card. Is it worth doing?
You can buy it. But be aware of the 6GB VRAM limitation. For 8GB you could get older 3070/3070ti laptops or a 4070, which is now available for much cheaper as back then. Unfortunately 12GB VRAM in a laptop (4080 and above) are still super expensive...
I thought that full wattage (or over 115w) 3060 laptops would be great to buy now since they are faster than similar 4050 laptops due to power scaling, but now the 6gb VRAM seems to be a major limitation. At least the AMD 6600M/S and above have over 8gb of VRAM and usually cost the same
I've been a console gamer my whole life and currently transitioning to PC gaming. However, building a PC is too complicated for me so I decide to start with a gaming laptop. I got asus tuf a15 4050. How long before a 6gb becomes obsolete 😢 do i have to upgrade again in 3-4 years? 😢
That totally depends on the games you play and the settings and resolution. But there will be a point when the first games need more than 6GB even at 1080p and low setting. But lighter games and games that are released until today are usually fine...

Hey there I’m planning to buy rtx 4050 laptop. Im confused. Can I play the new AAA games on medium high settings with 6gb VRAM. Im moving from a gtx 1650 laptop.
Well... That really depends on the game. For a lot of games yyou probably won't be able to get 60 FPS on high settings anymore. Unless you use DLSS and or frame generation. For some you will be able to do so. The 6GB will be a limiting factor in some games as well, in others it's still okay.
I wanna get a legion pro 5 from this year since they have pretty great sales on the Lenovo website, however their ryzen + 4060 version is out of stock and the intel version is too expensive as my budget is limited to 1700CAD, do you think i should go with the 4050 version which is at the same price as the 4060 that was available or do you think that theyll restock the 4060 at the same price soon ? i sure hope so and for extra info, i work a lot with 3D and i do some video/photo editing in addition to gaming with like Elden Ring and Mw2, i sure plan on playing the next call of dutys and some more upcoming games so i was wondering what is the best choice if you guys can help me
Well, this is not such a simple question and depends on many factors. No one knows how the price will change and how quickly it will happen. If you have a choice between 4050 and 4060 for the same price, it makes sense to wait. The only question here is time. How long are you willing to wait, because life goes on? For example, maybe there will be good discounts on Black Friday, but are you ready to wait that long? In addition, if you do 3D and video editing, it may make sense to buy an Intel laptop, since they are better than AMD in that segment.
@@tataroma4900 well to be honest my biggest issue is here, waiting, i am willing to wait but id say a maximum of like 2 months is i have the guarantee to get the same price, which is very far from being a fact. more than that i am going for the AMD version since it was cheaper with the higher tier CPU and GPU than the intel one which is out of my budget. However if i do decide to go with the 4050 it would be the intel based machine. So right now here is the big issue, Will is be back on the website, and if yes at what price ? other than that thank you for answering !
@@TarekKhadir Well, I'm afraid that no one will be able to predict whether a particular model will be available on a particular web-store at a particular price in two months. Why don't you write or even call to the support of that seller and ask them about it? You can ask first if there will be a restock in the next two months, and if they say yes then ask what price is expected. This is the only thing I can advise you. Also, within two months, new models with the same video cards may appear on the market, possibly at a lower price due to competition.
@@tataroma4900 alright alright then i will just ask them and look around what's new for a similar price, thank you for your support really, i appreciate it!
@@TarekKhadir If you're on a budget, check out the new HP Victus 16 or HP Victus 15 (2023) with 4060 graphics cards in your country. 15 inch ones are just entering the market, 16 inch ones have been on sale for a long time at a good price. In general, 15" models have a more limited TDP, but maybe size matters to you. 16 inch ones have a higher TDP for video cards. This is a pretty good budget option that has good reviews.
Hi guys need an advice before buying it : What about a 800€ (brand new) ASUS TUF A17 FA707NU-HX067W AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735HS Prozessor, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4050
Absolutely right. But as I mentioned alot of 4050 gaming laptops get 1440p screens now. Playing at 1080p can seem blurry depending on the game and if you're sensitive to that. 😐
nah, 3060 at high wattages gives more FPS than 4050 at 95w(which is max wattage it uses at any game), if you want to take more FPS with 4050 you have to turn on FRAME GENERATION which creates lag delay latency as far as I heard and that is bad for e-sport games no doubt. tell me If am wrong

I'm convincing myself that laptop is not good type of device for playing games with highest graphics presets. Maybe it's better to buy cheaper laptop 4050 and later buy PS5 or xbox or good PC with 4070ti. In this case what is the point to buy expensive laptop???🤔 But I'm pretty sure I will want to play in some AAA games Stalker 2 for example. Hard choice))) when have not much money🙈 Which brand with 4060 could you recommend? I was thinking about Dream machine 4050/4060 and lenovo LOQ 4060. I heard legion very good laptops but with 4060 it is too expensive. What would you recommen if budget between 1100-1400$
I own a RTX 4050 laptop and this video is spot on. It's the reason why the 6800 XT is considered to be one of the best value GPUs from the previous generation.
im still able to run all newer games at 1080p high settings though right? and still get good fps?
@@johnnyb13 thanks!
Why not get a desktop then?
Also ps plus is underrated, its pretty much game pass@@dan9806
Don't worry as long as you r not competitive vram won't be a big issue for you
RTX 4050 140w version which is on legion pro 5 is actually faster than desktop rtx 3060 in rendering, I have tested it on many renders and benchmarks myself, it was even better than 2080 super in blender.
4050 above 80w is 95% performance as 140W .
Get chinese based ryzen7000 and 4060 then
Later they might sell for $999 with 16"
Yeah the 4gb ram is now these days considered minimum if you play somehow demanding games. But this is just a advice from myself. Even though my own laptop has EGPU connectivity options due to it having thunderboltr 4 build into it. I mostly stick to cloud gaming in terms of newer demanding titles
It's the biggest scam of the decade from nvidia selling cards claiming its "140w" when in reality barely reaches 110w smh
In reality it reaches 75-95w. Not 110 even ;)
BUT it can still achieve it's designed performance, but yeah. It's super unnecessary of them doing that...

it can play any game on ultra in 1080 or 1200p with at least 90 fps. if more than 6gb vram is not required it actually outperforms most of 8gb video cards. it outperforms all 3060s except ti version, it outperforms 1080, 1070, 1660 ti and even rtx 2070 and 2080 and I mean this in everything including gaming even without frame generation.

Very efficient back then (problem beeing 4gb vram)
Newer generations are always more efficient. There also are 60w versions of the 3060 that fit in slimmer laptops aswell.
And the 4050 version With 100w is not meant for slim laptops.
So it really depends.
But of course the low wattage versions of newer GPUs are always a good fit for slim laptops, sure.
rtx 4050 and rtx 3060 laptops price is almost the same in my country . I have rtx 4050 laptop and I am happy with rtx 4050
Considering there is an additional m.2 slot and an additional ram slot, I'm probably going to throw in another 16 gig stick and a 1 tb SSD (which with today's pricing is somehow under $100 for the both of them)
If you can get a good 4060 laptop for around the same price or even lower, I might even venture to say it's a somewhat good value buy considering the performance and portability you get, even compared to a similar desktop intel/nvidia build (if you factor in the monitor and peripherals) (although an AMD/AMD, Intel/AMD, AMD/Intel or even Intel/Intel build right now seems to be the way to go with nvidia's GPU pricing)
I'm interested what brand of laptop are you using ?

the katana is a big no, worst display, single fan, lowest wattage gpu. personally i'll go with the 3060.
@@alimrafif4457 why the 3060 instead of the 4050? Im more inclined to the 4050 because the dlss 3 thingy, but why would u rather the 3060 one?
hmm that asus tuf with 3060 looks promising, though may i ask how many vram does it have?
@@Gargantura it has 6gb of vram

@@Asadc1995 throtttling does not allow it to shut down.
Yepp, that's a perfect usecase
I have Asus Tuf F15 i5 13500h RTX 4050 , in warzone at low/medium i am able to pull a constant 120 fps locked , i am very satisfied with the performance.
The most detailed review of a GPU I have ever seen on RUclips
8:39 listen this y'all 💯
I really don't understand the point of this video.
Would you prefer 4050 140w or 4060 45w and in this case will gap between 6gb and 8gb vram effect much?
i choosed 4050
@@reza_nofiandri21 bad choice then, you'll regret 6gb vram with 96bit bus in next few years.

Thank you, I wanted to know whether it would be good for non gaming tasks.
why is rtx 4050 96 bit? Even my old 10 year old laptop was 128bit.
What problem would there be with that number? I don't understand.
I just bought a LOQ 15.6 with a 4050 for $700 at Best Buy. I don't mind the limitations at this price.
Great deal 👍👍👍
Id honestly take this under 800usd. Im content with 1080p and 60fps lock. And dlss is just future proofing my device for at least 10 years imo.
How to choose 799$ legion i5-13500H+3050 6g or 1069$ i7-13700H+4050 6g? The productivity of those CPUS are 10%+ and the improvement of 4050 with 3050 is about 50% but the prize raised 270$ which one should I choose?
50% more performance for only 25% more money + the better cpu. I'd take that if you can afford it...
That's a good use case though :)
It's a good beginner/entry lvl card. It's just that the 6gb should have been 8 ;)
@@Hubwood absolutely right, I would be really curious if they could achieve an handheld with maybe a 5050 or something low power form Nvidia in the future.
32gb would be better. But you could start with 16 and see if it works well for you and upgrade the ram later.
The 4050 itself will be fine.

Which 4050 laptop do you own and what's the GPUs tdp?

Spot on with your opinion`s Hubwood. Thankyou.
I recently bought a laptop with a ryzen 5 with a rtx 4060 . But traded it for. Ryzen 7840hs and rtx 4050 . As I don't play games much. Still a great machine
My 3060 draws 140w and my i7-11800h draws 80w it is definitely performance favoured pc
True. Not gonna argue on that ;)
Did driver updates solve some of these issues yet?
Which ones do you mean?

(wouldn't count on GTA 6 though 😅)
Which is better for work: new acer swift X intel 13th, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM and 1tb ssd OR Macbook air m2 16gb ram 1tb ssd? I want the fastest
Well. That's a good question. The fastest for what exactly? Apple and windows are different in using Apps... I mean which software.
Which Laptop is better -
LOQ i5 13450 HX / 24 GB DDR5 RAM / RTX 4050 6 GB Ram / I think the TGP is 115 (95 plus turbo boost)
For $ 950
Also another option Is
Asus Tuf A 15
Ryzen 7 7735 HS / 16 GB DDR5 RAM /
RTX 405/ 6 GB with 140 w TGP / The best part of this laptop is 90 w battery
For $1,050.
Which one do you think is value for money do you think. Do you think it is worth paying more for TUF , since the Display is also 100 %srgb in Tuf
Is Ryzem 7 7735 better than i5 13 hx .
Are people facing issues with motherboard ( dead) in 13 HX laptops
Honestly the GTX 1080 ti is still a better choice than an RTX 3050 desktop and a 4050 laptop because of the more VRAM you get. 11gb of vram is great in 2023
is the 4050 RTX better than a 6700s RX?
any help on deciding the good entry laptop with 4050 for now?
i got some laptop that has been release in my country (indonesia) which is
- lenovo gaming ideapad, R7-7735HS - RTX 4050 85w - 165Hz WQHD 16:9 100%srgb - 8gb DDR5 : 18.899.000 IDR
- Asus TUF A16, R7-7735HS - RX 7600S 95w - 165Hz FHD+ 16:10 100%srgb - 16gb DDR5 : 19.999.000 IDR
- MSI Bravo 15, R7-7735HS - RTX 4060 (still dont knowhow much wattage it take) - 144Hz FHD 16:9 70%srgb - 16gb DDR5 : 18.899.000 IDR (literally the same price as lenovo)
all pricing was using indonesian currency which when you change it to usd will be around 1200 to 1400 USD
Well either the 4060 or 7600s then. Defenitely. The additional price will pay off. I have made a full review on the Asus tuf a16 Advantage you've mentioned. Check it out! I think it's a great laptop!
Wah sama nih bro. Gua juga bingung antara beli lenovo ideapad (layar bagus tapi harus nambah ram), msi bravo (vga bagus tapi layar kurang), atau nunggu acer nitro 16 yang bentar lagi keluar
@@m.nakhwa2175 acer nitro kayaknya ga bakal murah keknya prediksi gw bakal sama kek asus tuf f15 jadinya > 20.000.000
Hey there
I’m planning to buy rtx 4050 laptop.
@@Hubwood thanks im going for the 4060😊
I wanna get a legion pro 5 from this year since they have pretty great sales on the Lenovo website, however their ryzen + 4060 version is out of stock and the intel version is too expensive as my budget is limited to 1700CAD, do you think i should go with the 4050 version which is at the same price as the 4060 that was available or do you think that theyll restock the 4060 at the same price soon ? i sure hope so and for extra info, i work a lot with 3D and i do some video/photo editing in addition to gaming with like Elden Ring and Mw2, i sure plan on playing the next call of dutys and some more upcoming games so i was wondering what is the best choice if you guys can help me
Well, this is not such a simple question and depends on many factors.
Hi guys need an advice before buying it :
What about a 800€ (brand new) ASUS TUF A17 FA707NU-HX067W
AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735HS Prozessor, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4050
I do think the 4050 has a place if you mostly play e-sports such as fortnite, but 1440p is more for the 4060 and upwards..
I'm getting a 4050 70W variant so how much less fps would it generate than a 90W 4050??
5-15% depending on the game I guess.
Please brother guide me. I am currently looking for Acer helio neo 16 with i5 13500hx and rtx 4050 configuration. I will mostly play games that are about 2-7 years old and I will mostly use my laptop for development and coding. Am I taking the right decision? I am getting it at about 1300 dollars.( Country is India).Taxes on electronic goods is high here.
In that case it will be perfectly fine!
Hello ,
should i buy the Acer Nitro 5 with rtx 4050 and i5 12450h for 999€ in my country or do you have a better option for a budget of 1000€?
Btw: Nice Video❤
That actually sounds like an okay price. Which country is that?

@@johnyasa7788 ja dann auf geht's! Für 999? Wo war das? 😱

@@johnyasa7788 is auf jeden fall n guter Deal.
So Amd 7600 better option if fsr3 comes ??
Possibly yeah if fsr 3 doesn't flop
it should be good enough for the next 3 years, for 1080p medium, right?
Yes, I would assume that :)
I think i will still be fine playing and streaming stuff like genshin, league etc espiecially when i don't care that much about all new games
Of course! Absolutely. I'm considering the whole industry and new games will be (or already are) a big problem on higher settings.
@@Hubwood yeah i see, nice video. Now i know what to buy if i eventually want to play some AAA games etc, that was helpfull
Well, I am an architect and 3d modeller and i am thinking of buying either the Dell G15 5525 with R7 6800h, 16gb ram, and rtx 3060. or the asus tuf a15 2023 with r7 7735hs, 8gb ram , and rtx 4050. both of them are sold almost at the same price here in turkey, and mostly i use software like revit, blender, autocad, 3dsmax, adobe suits and lumion. and i need help in deciding which one to buy. Help please.
I would go for an Nvidia Gpu in that case.sl specifically the one with 16gb.
Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 82XV004HPH| 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) 144Hz i5 13420H | 8GB RAM | 512 SSD | RTX 4050 is this laptop good for Gaming?
Yes. You should add another 8gb of ram though. 8gb only is too small.
Hey, is this a good laptop?
Colorful Evol p15
It is 780$ usd
It is also using rtx4050
Only problem currently showing is overheating
But the spec for this price is extremely good.
Evol p15? Never heard of it 🤷
@@Hubwood can you google search about this lap🥺
How the hell did you get a rtx 4050 to over 100 watts
Thank you so much for this video cannot choose between cheaper laptop with 4050 105w and with 4060 140 w that +200euro more expensive. I need it for work, but also 3d modeling, 3d maya, substance painter and games. Metro exodus, God of war. Hard choice))) when have not much money🙈
Which brand with 4060 could you recommend? I was thinking about Dream machine 4050/4060 and lenovo LOQ 4060. I heard legion very good laptops but with 4060 it is too expensive. What would you recommen if budget between 1100-1400$
