Yo, very clean. Was wondering what the downside is to cutting out the endpiece from your filter.
Karl Creech If you’re talking about the opening on the end of the filter itself, that’s supposed to be there and it was originally open. I left the small end piece of the stock box to help hold the filter in place but it should stay without it

Would do this to my car if it wasnt illegal in CA to modify the air box. I have to use OEM parts or approved CARB parts, so either full intake, or RS airbox are my only options sadly..
since it just a top cover, easy to swap an oem part on for inspection.

Ghostspartan no, my air box is lifted up a little bit because of my intake pipe so the rubber seal seals off the hot air from the engine bay. It’s pre intercooled air anyways so it shouldn’t make much of a difference. The more airflow and throttle response would counter it out anyways
I bought the intake pipe you suggested but i was contemplating the air box mod but if youve already been in the heat ill take your word for it and sent it 😂
Ghostspartan Go for it! Most intakes have a similar design and the filter is pretty far away from the engine anyways so you’ll be good
Oh hey im just courious what did you end up using to cut the intake pipe? I don't remember if you showed what you used sorry if you did i mustve missed it 😅
Ghostspartan I used sheet metal cutters. I’m sure a dremel or maybe even scissors, a blade, or a saw would work too

Oh boohoo, it's just an airbox. Most of them won't care. They've probably done work on much more modded STs.
