I live in southwest Louisiana, surrounded by Cajuns. When I was young we would go to my grandparents house on Sundays and they had a neighbor who would sit out on his back porch and play an accordion. I know it’s sounds pretty stereotypical and cliche, but true story. I miss those afternoons. They’re all gone now.

As a french citizen, my heart is broken to see that a french legacy remains and at the same time that this legacy could be disappear. from a member of the deep french to a member of deep american people, don't forget the legacy of french colonisation of louisiana, and the deep affection that bound our two countries, now and forever. This link between our nations will never disappear, i hope.
Amen and thank you for this great and wonderful songs.

Old guy on the squeeze box is really good. and the fiddle guy is holding his own playing with a star fiddler consigning himself to the rhythm guitar for this tune. Nadine is just naturally good, especially when playing her favorite music, Cajun.

Magnifique...

I just restored a Cajun themed quilt, that hubby and I actually dug out of a refuse bin. I said to myself, "Cajun culture is to be honored, not thrown in the trash!!" And went to work fixing this up. It now hangs on my wall. What a gift to be able to curate and repair this lovely piece of folk art. Aiiieeee...!!!

That was my favorite too, L'amour qui ma seduit le coeur. I don't have an accent on my computer or I'd put it there over the e. I loved this so much I had to call my brother in law and ask him to get the words for me. If you play the guitar, the chords are easy, and I'll bet I've played along at least 100 times so far. That looks like a beautiful place they're playing in, and the lady on the far left at 1:38 looks so much like my my deceased mother it made me cry to see her there.

Nadine Landry's singing at first listen is such caterwauling as to stop me in my tracks...and perk up my ears. Then looking at her exuberant, beaming self... her beaming smile and musical energy is transcendent...perfect boost for these chaotic times. Your alligator man rendition is the best one I've hear. Hard to get out my head. Thanks all for your toe tapping music.

    • @custerranch

To be heard over a Cajun accordion or fiddle, a singer pretty much has to caterwaul somewhat. And if you listen to Jesse's version of the regular Jolie Blon, he's kinda got that distinctive sound too. It actually works well with Cajun music, to my ear.

Just love this music, neighbours in our
Street sent a couple of presentatives ,
Complaining about the very loud music I play,
I said you telling me you've been hearing this
For last 3yrs ? An angry yes was the answer,
So to avoid any fisticuffs on my doorstep
I promised to do something about it. And I
Did I sent a very plight bill ,for music supplied
Backdated with interest for the last 3yrs.
I haven't heard a moan from them since, also
Had a nice long holiday on the proseeds. O by the
Way two buggers that refused pay to went missing
Haven't been seen for the last 2yrs. Bit worried about
That i could be a bit short on payment for nexst years
Holiday they ain't bloody cheap you know.

But watching this turned me into a huge fan of Jesse Lege - he is truly great and his music transcends any language barrier there may be because it speaks to the heart. (Fortunately I do speak and understand some French.) But I'm wondering why are there so many songs about a jolie blonde and never about a jolie brunette, lol. 😸
