Thank you for this helpful stitching lesson. You filmed it so well I can easily see your needle and thread working along the edges. You have a generous heart to share your knowledge with us.
Exactly what I needed, though I’m several years late to the party. Just as I gave up on my first ever EPP project because my stitches were showing and I didn’t like the look of it, my [non-sewing] friends kindly gifted me the La Passacaglia templates and papers. 😯 This video gives me the confidence to actually begin that project! Thank you! (See you in 20 years when it’s finished…)
So glad I came across this video. My whip stitch is awful and flat back stitching is very slow for me. Much better speed and much, much better results with the feather stitch. THANKS!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial! You explained the method very well and I could actually see clearly what you were doing. Very much appreciated 💗🌺
I've never heard of this stitch! Can't wait to try. I wish your thread was a darker color for your sample so I could see your stitches a little more. Thanks for the video!!!
Excellent job on the tutorial! Very easy to see what you're doing. I tried the whip stitch and flat back stitch but they just weren't working for me. So glad I found this tutorial!
I have been practicing my EPP during this quarantine time and I am so happy I found your demonstration of the feather stitch. It is exactly what I need! Thanks for your tutorial and I am looking forward to watching others.
An alternative thread conditioner that I like is to use silicone putty ear plugs. They generally come six or eight in a package and are very affordable compared to Thread Heaven, but they're nearly the same thing. I like to smoosh a blob of that putty onto the end of the Gutterman spool of thread I like to use, then store the whole thing in a prescription medicine bottle, perhaps along with a needle, for a convenient sewing package.
Thank you! I’ve been quilting for years but just picking up paper piecing. Your technique just made this process so much easier for me! Again, thanks! ☺️
I'm estatic that I learned this stitch. It goes faster for me and really is invisible! Thank you so very much! So happy to have found you and Mister Domestic! God Bless you both! 😀😇
Thank you for this tutorial. I've been having trouble keeping my stitches invisible. Your video is clear and your close up while you stitch is super helpful. Love love love!
In my world that’s called the ladder stitch. I used to do it that way but now I lay my pieces flat, much easier than all the stress of holding those 2 pieces tight.
Very interesting way of doing EPP! I going to give this technique a try because I definitely stack my stitches. I have been told by a teacher and can not seem to get her techniques down. I think that I can do your technique easier. Thank you for sharing this extent video!
Thank you so much for this video, it changed everything for me! I'm new to epp & the whip stitch wasn't working for me. This feather stitch is perfect.😀
It is so bad that “thread heaven” is no longer sold. It is the best product. The newer type is called “thread magic” and it is in any way as good as “thread heaven”.
Oh em gee! This is my stitch! Tried the whip stitch and it was taking too long and I can see it. Tried the flat back stitch and it was pulling my seams up. This is great! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You explain this very well and I love your camera view. It’s so hard to tell what people are doing when their camera is farther away. Can’t wait to try this method!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have been doing the whip stitch and I have been unhappy with the stitches showing a little. I’m going to try this! Very nice tutorial!
Happy that you liked it! Yes, very often the thread shows on the front when using other stitches. Glad you have a way to stitch all your epp projects now! 👍🏻😊💕
Nearly jumped out of my skin when the loud music kicked in at 7:29! Question: Is the place you pick up the fabric on Fabric A directly across from the place on Fabric B, or are they kind of alternating/staggered? Thank you for the video!
If you allow the thread to stay around the needle at the start of your stitch, you will have a knot, without that extra going through the loop at the last second. It is also a good idea to knot at the end of each inch of seams. I was taught to wrap the thread ends around my needle while the point is protruding from the fabric just as you do with blanket stitch.
Do you know if there is a video on this. I am a beginner and not positive I know exactly how to do what you are speaking of. I will be giving it a try. Going to write this down. Any advice much appreciated!
This wouldbe a much better video if you had used contrasting fabrics so we can see more clearly the stitches... perhaps you can make a video with contrasting thread...? Great video otherwise, just wish it was clearer
Good video but awful music. Also it’s too loud not consistent with your soft voice. Had volume turned up to hear you and music made me jump because its too loud.
12/2023 it was very nice to learn a better way to sew epp. I am 75 and orove you are never to old to learn a better way to do something. Thank you

This is a stitch my mother taught me over 50 years ago, but I never see people use it now. Thank you-now I know-feather stitch!

congratulations on great friends, with such a gift of encouragement. How is it going?
Now I know why I waited to start EPP, I needed to learn this so not to get discouraged. Thank you.
This is the best method I’ve seen. Thank you!
Wonderful! Your voice and accent are easy to understand and are enjoyable. Thank you for this video.
So glad I came across this video. My whip stitch is awful and flat back stitching is very slow for me. Much better speed and much, much better results with the feather stitch. THANKS!
Excellent tutorial, great teaching skill, beautiful stitching and I just love your voice to top it off

I've never heard of this stitch! Can't wait to try. I wish your thread was a darker color for your sample so I could see your stitches a little more. Thanks for the video!!!
I just found this!! I am going to try this right now! I used to just use ladder stitch or slip stitch. This technique looks neat and tidy!
Excellent job on the tutorial! Very easy to see what you're doing. I tried the whip stitch and flat back stitch but they just weren't working for me. So glad I found this tutorial!
I really like this method. So much easier than trying to sew both sides at once!
This is the best tutorial I have seen on stitching epp. You are clear and thorough, and your video is easy to see! Thanks 😊
I have been practicing my EPP during this quarantine time and I am so happy I found your demonstration of the feather stitch. It is exactly what I need! Thanks for your tutorial and I am looking forward to watching others.

Thank you so very much for providing this video, Pat. I really appreciate it as I'm new to quilting and EPP. :-) Wendy
Thanks for showing me that stitch. It really helped me to complete my English hexagon paper peicing quilt. Now back to work Sept 2020!
Thank you! I’ve been quilting for years but just picking up paper piecing. Your technique just made this process so much easier for me! Again, thanks! ☺️
Very well demonstrated. Thank you!

I haven't seen this stitch before. Thanks for the demo. I use the flat back stitch and it has made EPP something I love to do. Thanks.
The Feather Stitch is the best!!! You definitely need to try it!

whow, I have never done it this way, I can't wait to try it. Looks like a much cleaner finish! Thanks so much xx/oo
Love your technique-always have been frustrated with the thread showing in previous projects.
Happy that you liked it! Yes, very often the thread shows on the front when using other stitches. Glad you have a way to stitch all your epp projects now! 👍🏻😊💕
Love this! I'm doing a hexie quilt in grays/reds/blacks and the thread always was showing on one of the colors. Thank you!
Oh my God, that will end up being a super pretty combination of colors for a quilt! Glad you enjoy my tutorial! :)
Thanks can’t wait to try this stitch many thanks
Jillian Ludeman You are welcome Jillian, happy quilting! ☀️
Why aren’t you doing more videos? You are informative!!!
WOW! Can't wait to use this method.
Pamela Winterrowd Thanks Pamela, you’ll love it! 🤗
I’ve just finished a Lucy Boston quilt, wish I had seen this before I started, much nicer finish.
Why this didn’t show up as the first video after searching for this?! Thank you!

Can you please clarify whether you keep the thread to the right or left of the needle when going on to the second side. Thankyou
Like your technique but it would be better if you had done it in a darker colour thread so that we could see the actual stitches.
How do you quilt when the top is finished?
How do you store all your Enlish paper piecing items?
Your voice is very quiet compared to the music!
