- QuakeCon 2002: Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel, plays John 'Zero4' Hill on a campgrounds. Being dominant as well at that time, Zero4 has quite a hard time doing anything in this match against Fatal1ty. He gets destroyed actually. This is Part 1. Enjoy!

if this gets to Fatal1ty, my dad is Sillyphuck.
He was one of the only people to EVER beat Fatal1ty. He placed 12th place in quakecon 2000. My dad had got him 1 out of 10.

Gosh it must be 19 or 20 years ago when Fat would occasionally hit my server (ASWP Prime). He'd come in, and just annihilate the whole clan and then leave after a round. Never got to know him. I miss the old days. Now I'm old.
i used to play under the name predator and a dude would follow me on every server and just try to kill me (he'd usually succeed) and we had this back and forth banter where he'd call me prey... i miss the old days too
by accident got to watch this video again, yeah so much time has passed its unbelievbale. good days and i feel such an attatchment to this dm6 map , its the one i used to play the most :)
A documentary should be made on why he was so good
This person doesn't just Shoot and run. He hunts, looks,Listens, picks the weapon(s) in a split second. The weapon he picks is appropriate for the distance and for MAX damage. I've seen "Fatality" Years ago at a live convention. Some said they will get 1 or 2 points.. NONE of them received any! He's not only smart but also a GREAT competitor ! ! !

Theres nothing too special with his killing style, it was the way he seemed to know exactly where his opponent was that made him so legendary at this game.
I've always admired how fatal1ty used to play back then. Was this the grand final match of that QuakeCon 2002?

They are using the standard bunnyhop trick, it's real easy to learn. Watching this video, i can see Fatal1ty's strategy, he controls the main power-ups, so it stops his opponent from getting them so he can kill them easier
Is it map specific or are the RL, LG and RG only primary guns used in tournaments?

There are different versions of the maps. You probably have the standard version of dm6, you will need to download a map pack with all the other maps. Also get the latest point release if you haven't already.
True Story: Call of Duty has from the start.. and STILL runs on the Quake 3 engine.

ALL players that compete are extremely talented.That's why they win contestest.I've seen all sorts of comments that aren't fair.A writter said that you have to surpass the condition of being just talented to become a professional writter.I'm convinced that this is the case with all elite professions.Maybe it's like in RPG games :D.You start with a level 1 equipment and then, by the time you get to level 50 it doesn't so much matter how you started, what matters is what eq you have in the present

Research it.. IW has been using a modified Quake 3 engine since COD.. upgrading minor things as we go, but it's still the Q3 Engine.

No, CoD still runs on what is basically a heavily modified Quake 3 engine.

BF is no 'console game'. It was nice of them to port it over though, for people who want to play as if they are wearing mittens (lol...controller). I get your point though, there is no comparison. BF is extremely fun if you are playing with a good team. Quake is just its own league.

Why aren't you taking part in any quakelive tourneys? It's easy to trashtalk behind the internet but zero4 still plays occasionally. If you're as good as you say you are, you should be winning quakecons. Zero4 is a 3 time quakecon champion.

Zero4 was offpeak in 2002. Zero4 is considered THE greatest q3 player, not fatal1ty. Zero4 owned fatal1ty in 2001.

I wouldn't reproach anyone of playing it safe in a big event for 1st place and cash prizes...
It costs them money to go to these tournaments. You've got hotel fees, airplane ticket fees, food etc.
Regardless if someone has a sponsor or not that helps them, if you spend cash to join these tournaments, I'd be playing it safe to earn it back too.
But really... Omg, that kill was fucking amazing!
The Rapha vs Cooller matches look more intense and skill-based than this. Then again this was back in 2002.
Wow, ZeRo4 way not on his game here. Fatali1ty got control of the Mega and RA early on and never let go. Not to mention control over the Railgun, he controlled where the fights were going to take place. That's bad, since ZeRo4 isn't exactly known for his accuracy. ZeRo4 cautious as always, but here, maybe a little more aggression cold have turned this around.
Fatal1ty on DM6 is like HAL9K on Aero. You just don't wanna be that other guy. Also i think this was an early encounter, Zero4 eventually figured out how Fatal1ty played but by then Fat was off to play Q4 and UT2K4 and whatever else was hot.
man, quake 3 plays much better than ql
